HULLO FRIENDS. My name is Gomez. I spend more time in cemeteries than most corpses I know. I like loud music, pretty dresses, petticoats, crimefighting, crimecausing, tomatoes, gemütlichkeit, objects with sharp edges, humans with sharp edges, humans with soft hearts wielding objects with sharp edges, objects with sharp edges wielding soft human hearts because why not, vidya games, tabletop games, cuddling, reading, writing, poetry, Classical mythology, running with scissors, comic books, the living dead, turkey vultures, other stuff, lots of other stuff, gratuitous comma abuse, unnecessarily long lists, staring at the ceiling, watching paint dry, lying facedown on the floor and gathering the energy to mop the kitchen, never actually mopping the kitchen, cute puppies.

Nightscrawl here. I frequently post at odd hours. On these forums, I always try to speak for myself alone, never insinuating that my opinions are the views of all (or even most) players, and appreciate those that do the same. I'm also apt to pull out developer quotes from my rather large collection of bookmarks as evidence of whatever point I'm trying to make. In general, I try to treat others as I'd like to be treated, never resorting to snark (which I'm bad at anyway), but I can occasionally fall into the unfortunate behavior of acting like I am "right," -- being aware of the problem is the first step, I suppose -- and I try to avoid this, if possible. Finally, I try to look at things practically, and will frequently be a buzzkill in offering a reason why some idea or request might not make it into the game, and I also try to be open to developer limitations.

As this is The Romance Defense Force, I'll say right off that I like angst. Uh... perhaps not the Solas-level of angst, but I do enjoy it quite a bit. I do like a happy ending, or at least a satisfactory one, as long as there are plenty of angsty challenges along the way.

For anyone who might not be aware, I am pretty obsessed with Dorian Pavus. I like talking about him a great deal, so if you come into the Dorian thread and ask a question, be prepared for an answer several paragraphs long. I quite like my Dorian x Trevelyan Inquisitor romance as well, but the character himself is the primary focus for me; the romance is bonus content.

Gomez!!! Oh wow, I thought you had bailed for good hun. It's good to see you around.

Hi, I'm Natashina. I'm 36, a houswife in the suburbs of Denver Colorado. My husband works the graveyard shift while I take care of our three dogs. I've recently gotten into cooking and baking with some simple but tasty stuff. I enjoy history, philosophy, and bad puns. I'm a Denver Broncos fan, but I'm not much of a sports person overall.

Like Donk, I'm also big into metal. I like a lot of blusey/crunchy music as well. I try to be diverse. It's not unusual to have Slayer and Machine Head on the same playlist as Oribtal, Bloodhound Gang and Enigma. Music is the soundtrack of life. I've seen a lot of different stuff, from Riverdance a few years ago to Garth Brooks to Lords of Acid to Megadeth.

I have a few tattoos as well. On my right arm is the kenji for "rainbow," which was my first tat. Above that I have a flying fox drawn anime style...which wasn't what I had asked for, but it still looks nice. On my left arm I have a yin/yang made of roses, and on my left shoulder I have a pair of very small purple wings. That I got in Vegas on the strip at Vince Neil's Tattoo shop. The big one is on my right thigh. It's a portrait-style tattoo of the bunting lark, the Colorado state bird. I'm not a big fan of birds, but I wanted something unique to show my love for my homestate.

I believe that we should be celebrating our similarities in games rather than focusing on our differences all the time. I grew up when adults and girls "didn't play video games," with my parents laughing at the notion all the way. I take that with me. Hell, I'm still really excited that I can talk to folks internationally about the same games we've all played. :D

I just realized that I never actually introduced myself in this thread.  So my name actually is Dave Liam and I really regret using it as my username here because it's ****** weird when people are all using my actual name.  I should have picked hairydwarfluva or something.

I'm an old school console gamer and have been playing games since way before most of you youngins' have even been alive.  I remember playing Adventure on my parent Atari 2600 when when I about four.  I've been hooked on adventure and RPG games ever since.  The one that really solidified my love of RPGs was Ultima Exodus on the NES.  I'd never really seen a game where you could make up your party from so many options.  I was especially fascinated that you could make a party of all female characters.  There were only four of them out of about 13 characters and they didn't really work well as a party, but it blew my mind as an option.  My personal favorite was the "Lark", who was a bard with long curly brown hair and dark skin.  I was totally hooked and wore that game out.  Funny anecdote:  For weeks, I didn't realize that the characters behind the counters could be interacted with (I'd never played an RPG before and I was only 9 when it first came out on NES).  So I kept getting killed because I was in the starting gear and was totally frustrated, but determined to figure it out.  Imagine how dumb I felt when I realize that I had to do was click A and it would allow me to talk with merchants!

When I'm not playing video games, I work at a major conservation non-profit in NYC and I'm a doctoral candidate in science education.  I am mostly a teacher educator, but most of my work lately has been on projects working on climate change education.  I'm about as left-leaning as you can get and I've been accused of being a SJW so many times that I actually wear it as a badge of honor at this point.  I'm a huge animal lover (I do work at a zoo, after all), but currently I only have one pet:  a guinea pig named Lana (she's named after Sarah Paulson's character from American Horror Story: Asylum).  And I'm married to a trained chef so I'm about 35 pounds heavier now than I was when we met 9 years ago.  Oh, and I really really love coffee, cheese, and meat.   And sarcasm.

I realize you've been a member of the BSN since 2010, likely with that same name, but this version of the forums does allow you to change your name. If you keep the same avatar, or add it to your sig for a while -- "The dwarf formerly known as daveliam," or something -- people will recognize you.

That merchant anecdote is adorable, btw. :3

Also! I notice that your forum profile description says you've never played NWN. Why is that? In case you don't know about this, and you'd like to give it a go, GoG.com has the Diamond Edition available (all expansions) for only $9.99. It's a simple process to download and play the games through them, as well. In addition, the robust toolset is still great (the basis for DAO's toolset), and the myriad amount of fan created content is still available.

If daveliam changed his name, I think it would feel like the earth just shifted on it's axis.

I'm such a hypocrite, though. I never want anyone else to change, but I think about trying a different name all the time.

Yeah, I've thought about it, but the damage has been done.  People already just call me 'Dave' and not 'daveliam' a lot of the times so it would likely continue even if I changed my username.  It's not the end of the world, though.  Just weird at times.

I had NWN on my old desktop when it first came out, but never really got into it.  (Honestly, I created a few characters and that was about it.)  Then I just never picked it back up.  I will at some point, but it's never been a huge priority for me.

We have to introduce ourself? Oh man.

Well here goes nothing. Outside of this place and the Internet in general i go by the name of John Ivar, which is my real name, duh. I am a man or more like a boy who enjoys gaming, and i have ever since my brother put a Nintendo controller in my hand at age 4. And i am forever grateful to him.

I've been a console and PC gamer since then, and videogames was a great escape from reality. I didn't really consider it as an important part of my life until i found RPG's, and the first ones i played was Baldurs Gate II and Morrowind, since then i've followed Bethesda and Bioware closely, i adore all their games, even Mass Effect 3. But i pretty much enjoy games from every genre, RPG's just tend to take most of my time.

When i am not gaming or doing other stuff, i work as a pre-school teacher, or well i did before i lost my job, downsizing. So currently i am working with people seeking asylum in Norway, mostly refugees from Syria. Which is quite interesting and abit scary.

Outside of that i mostly just hang with friends, watch movies, listen to music, all the normal stuff. Guess i consider myself a Socialist. I think everyone should have equal rights, and i hate labeling. Whatever works for you, works for you. Also i tend to let the Internet get to me, so many stupid comments and i always get involved, which never ends well.

There is my very corny and clunky introduction.

Since most people have given more exhaustive answers, I guess I should expand on mine.

In the meatspace I go by James. As I've said, I'm an IT student specializing in databases. Previously I studied applied linguistics to do translations between English, German, and my native language, but the work opportunities were so meager, I decided to switch. English is not my first language. I think I have a pretty good grasp of it, but if there's any weirdness, now you know why.

I'm not exactly subtle about the fact that I'm a gay man, I talk about that a lot here (whoops). I live in a hostile environment i.e. an eastern European country, so I'm painfully single and, for the most part, in the closet. I do hope to move somewhere (fingers crossed, Canada) next year, but we'll see how that goes.

My first console was a clone of the Famicom, then the actual Famicom (better known as the NES), which introduced me to gaming in general. Then came the Gameboy and Kirby became one of my favourite games, beating the final boss in Kirby's Dream Land 2 on my own was a huge achievement. After that I started playing on the PC, starting with Dink Smallwood (very fun game, and my first RPG), Icewind Dale, and Baldur's Gate 2. And I've been a PC gamer and RPG fan ever since.

I'm interested in, well, anything that captures my attention. Technology, psychology, linguistics, architecture, games, music, tv, movies (2001 A Space Odyssey was my introduction to adult cinema). I love animals and I feel pretty odd with not having any in the house anymore.

Random fact: I have to recite a German mnemonic every time I need to use "West" or "East" in a sentence (Wasche nie ohne Seife).

OH EM GEE!

I have a cat almost as adorable as this!  You made my morning! :D

As for me, nice to meet you, folks.  I'm an over 50 lady gamer and mom of 2 adult children (one of which loves games as much as I do).  One of the first RPGs I got was Baldurs Gate 2 and I still play it from time to time.

Awww, big hugs to everybody. It's nice to get to know everyone in more than bits and pieces scattered about the forum.

It's good to see you too, Nat!

I'm too obnoxious to leave, honestly. Like the noble cockroach (and Gloria Gaynor), I will survive.

 I tried, but I'm weak. Life wasn't life without my imaginary mustache.

Dave could always become... Evad?! That's kind of the same, right?

If you do, be sure to get HotU. The expansions are the meatiest part of NWN. You could say that same of NWN2.

Name's Dragonflight, college graduate from Wayne State College and working on becoming a publisher. Currently a carpet cleaner while looking for jobs. I love fantasy and occasionally sci-fi, intelligent conversation and roleplaying. I also write fanfiction as a hobby.

When I'm not working, videogaming or reading/writing I'm here on the forum. And in serious need of a social life.

EDIT: Also I'm very proud to have graduated college without taking out a single loan, so no college debt for me, and no, I'm not rich or upper class at all. Instead of 4 years at college I went for roughly 6 and worked my way through it.

I know just what you mean. I like being able to spread around, and then come back here when out there gets too frustrating or dull. The venting thread is also really good for hearing about what's going on in other parts of the forum.

I invited Sandal, by the way, but I don't think he saw it when he logged in today. I think I'll message him about it once this semester has started to wind down for him and he's around more. I thought he might really like it here.

I'm sure others have seen this already but our Venting Thread got locked. Thought of making a new one but not sure if it will draw the ire of the mods and don't want to give bad attention to this lovely group.
