So since the vent thread is locked I"m just gonna put this here. Just found out less than ten minutes ago there is a murder on the loose in my area, kind of freaking out more than I should be at the moment. Aside from doing normal things like locking up I've also blockade my room door since it has no lock have all the lights off and am going to be sleeping with a knife tonight. Probably over-reacting just a touch but I scare easily.

Keep the knife in a sheath, and stay safe. I don't blame you for being a little scared. If it helps, that guy is probably long gone by now. Otherwise, keep an eye on the news and try to ride it out. <hugs>

Our only actual self defense knife is in the car and while I'm sure I'll be fine going to get it I can't work up the nerve to go get it. Thankfully when I was dumb teen I used to sleep with one all the time so I kind know how to not stab myself in the middle of the night. Thank you I'm sure you are very right but it's still a very scary thought.

I understand being scared and I don't blame you. You'll probably have trouble falling asleep until this is over. Hopefully you've got someone to hang out with. I'll be up for most of the night, and if anything goes down, you can always PM me. I'll be taking a nap in about 4-5 hours from now, but I'll be free until then.

One night I was home watching TV when I heard some kind of explosion. I immediately called 911, because I knew it wasn't a backfire, a firecracker or a tire blowing out. I told my husband while he was at work, and he listened to the police scanner. He told me that it was shotgun blasts I was hearing and there was reports of it in the area. About 45 mins later he came home early because the idiot shooting out of the car window into the air had fled and was spotted going into backyards in the area.

This is normally a quiet neighborhood and I wasn't too scared, since three dogs that bark tend to deter folks like that. It was still scary though. About a week later a roofer broke into our garage, borrowed to our long-handled garden hoe (that we only really use to chip ice off the driveway when it's been crappy out) and used it to remove roof tiles on the house next door. They put it back into the garage, but after that we got a security system.

It is a very sharp lamp to be fair, I could knock someone out with it with a few wacks. Seemed like it would work better than a can of glade and a lighter anyway

I've got a junior baseball bat. I have small hands, but I can wield it well.

Although, "Intruder Burned to Death By A Can of Glade" has a certain something to it.

Well, I checked and double checked. In the ranks setting, under guest, absolutely none of those boxes marked. So, I'm feeling like an all new thread will be the best thing, because then there's no way for a non member to get a direct link unless someone sends them one.

Dumb question: Is guest set to guest in the drop down menu? Last time I had a mod come poking around guests were set to member and I had to change it back.

I used to have so many walking sticks I could of used as a weapon but they all got tossed out while I was away.

Got some news today that the guy was caught so took a much needed nap and turned the lamp back into a lamp. Not sure if he's actually caught or if I was just being told that cause someone thinks I'm over reacting. Hoping it's the former.

So, a little news. I'm headed to San Francisco tomorrow, and I'll be staying at my Aunt's apartment there for about a week. 

 

I don't have good wifi there, and I hate posting with my phone, so my access to the forum will be more limited. 

 

I'll miss this group, but I more than trust you guys to keep this place fun and relaxed, so I'll just look forward to when I can be back around in a little while. 

 

Dumb question: Is guest set to guest in the drop down menu? Last time I had a mod come poking around guests were set to member and I had to change it back.

 

Yeah, it is. It actually had been altered in exactly the same way after the thread lock, strangely, but I fixed that right away.

I'm generally too lazy these days to risk leaving the safety of the Cullen thread, where I've lived for the better part of five years now.  At least it has quieted down again as DA:I recedes in the rear view mirror.   aaaand... I'm doing alright. I've got a (now) almost 9 month old puppy who's occupying most of my attention these days. Oh, and I know it's tomorrow, but Happy Spring everyone!

Aw, how fun for you! And time consuming. I'm laughing that at the start of Spring... I'm scheduled to get a freak snow storm today. Figures! LOL
