I've been away from the forum for awhile and just now coming back to it, so forgive me if this already has a thread.(I always get confused when trying to search for a specific thread on here :P ) The last time I heard anything about DA4 is when the Devs said "It has yet to be green lit by (The Tyrant) EA, and that there not worried" that was around the time Trespasser came out.

So...How bout now? Has it been green lit?

No real new information since then. We most likely won't get any until after MEA and probably the new IP come out.

I suspect there will be nothing concrete until after ME: Andromeda.

The game isn't even officially announced. Like, the fans know Inquisition isn't the last game in the series, anyone who played the base game, let alone Trespasser, knows that they're clearly continuing the series, and we've heard writers talking about having plans for the future, but the official word at the move about the very existence of DA4 is 'nothing.'

Don't expect anything until probably this time next year. They're absolutely going to let Andromeda get its day in the sun before they start hyping up the next Dragon Age game.

Easy question to answer from me

Not that I am aware of.

Likely hood of this being mentioned at this years E3

Not likely....unless they rushed it.....like how EA rushed DA 2.

I think the chances of them admitting DA4 exists before Mass Effect: Andromeda comes out are approximately nil. That probably won't be until late this year, maybe early next year. Even after that, they may want to throw the spotlight on the Sekrit New IP next. We may be well into 2017 before the team admit that they are doing something other than drinking coffee and making increasingly elaborate paper planes.

However, paying attention to the developer Twitter accounts, it seems that DA4 is in early production. While most people moved on to other things after the release of Trespasser, the core team of Mark Darrah, Mike Laidlaw, Patrick Weekes and a few others (including John Epler, I think?) still seem to be attached to the Dragon Age project.

Funny how one company would announce a new Final Fantasy game almost on a yearly bases and EA can't announced a plan DA:4.

Honestly if the DA team (or whoever is bloody helming it since I know EDGE OF REALITY seems to be no more so to me the DA games seem to keep changing teams) is smart they would do what they did with DAI and DAO/DAA and make DA4 within four years and not pull a DA 2 and make it within two years. I really hate rush projects and it seems like a-lot of people hate how DA 2 was rushed.

As far as ME Andromeda if I here anything about the game at E 3 I would be shocked because it seems like it keeps getting pushed (October 2015, March 2016) and it to be at E3 (again) would be news to me.

As far as DA 4 "to be announced" I wouldn't really say 2017 but more likely 2018 to 2019.....again if they are smart.

Pffffft.....someone wants EA to either leak early game specs which would be bad for EA or have EA pull a EPIC VS SILICON KNIGHTS by getting other companies to know about their new engine/specs/whatever, make fake deals with other companies and wind up in court over it.

Wasn't there word of a new book coming out set in tevinter?

If my memory serves me, I thought I heard something about a book Gaider was working on before he left that involved Fenris and was gonna some stuff happening in the Imperium to get us hyped and or accustomed to Tevinter.

I think DG subsequently denied he was working on a book and the Tevinter connection seems to be coming through he comic series, although the protagonists are currently in the south.   If it is going beyond the events in Inquisition then perhaps they will eventually take us back to Tevinter.

None that I've heard, especially none that any major outlet is running.

I am kind of scared though. After the announcement from David Gaider that he was no longer working on Dragon Age's writing, and with how poor some elements of Inquisition were (though to be fair to Gaider, not sure if he had a hand in it or not, Tresspasser was on point for the most part) I am scared for the plot and characters of the next Dragon Age.

I hope we don't get locked into a Windows/Darksouls cycle with Dragon Age, where every other game turns out to be a absolute piece of trash (Origins: Best In Series, 2: Oh God Why, Inquisition: Solid Game, 4: ??? vs. XP, VISTA, 7, 8, 10)

Still, we can hope. I confess, I have yet to read books 4 and 5 due to slight bias and fear against a non-Gaider writer. While I recognized some very significant flaws in his writing, it was in most his style and work that brought us Origins, alongside a devoted team. We can see that B team for Bioware writing did a decent job with II (for all it's flaws, it's writing wasn't it's most abhorrent part).

Though speculation at this point would put the scene in Tevinter, fighting Qunari. Past that speculation, there's been as far as anyone knows no confirmation via any social media, or leaks to that matter, from any of the Bioware staff.

As far as EA greenlighting, they will. EA are greedy, greedy wretches and know that 4 will make money. We can only pray they keep their day-1-on-disk DLC and microtransactions away.

I'm not worried since one writer doesn't make a RPG especially when one sees the story line flaws in DA:O and there was several and DA:I has more then I can count.

You won't be hearing anything about the game until after ME:A is out. Potentially, you will have to wait until the new IP is out. It's a 2-3-year wait, at the very minimum.

With the news of two of Bioware top people leaving Bioware, should we be worried?

Neither of them were on the Dragon Age team (and Chris Schlerf never had been) so probably not.

Funny how one company would announce a new Final Fantasy game almost on a yearly bases and EA can't announced a plan DA:4.

I'm not sure how well this has actually served SquareEnix.  FF15 has been announced in development long enough for me to stop caring in the way that I used to. I kind of like being a little surprised by a games arrival. It helps prevent me from getting misguided expectations of what something should be.  So I'm happy to wait on a DA4 announcement until we are closer to an actual game realized.  Square is a good company responsible for some of the best games I have ever played, but I don't love the way they market the flagship.

This is probably a bigger concern for Mass Effect, although I'm not terribly worried about that either. Its worth asking ourselves what incentive Bioware would have for announcing this is in production (and at least at the story level, I'm certain its well underway).  They have quite a bit on the docket before then, including a brand new IP that won't carry the same recognition as the two big franchises (a better question might be why doesn't that have a name yet).  If there was nothing else to market, I might be concerned about their general caginess on the matter, but as things stand, I looks like they just have other games to hype.

I'd say that there's a non negligible chance that Darrah's trial balloon about a T-RPG is a hint about an interquel.

Sooooo, kinda news on a potential Dragon Age 3.5: does that count?
