I hosted some guests from Finland at the winery. They were sweethearts. We talked about Nightwish and they gave me this strange licorice with a kind of salt on it. Fortunately, I love licorice.  ^_^

No Sonata Arctica? :(

Actually, they did mention that band. They'd been to see a concert just a few days before. I'll check them out.

Ooohh, but what kind of pasta? Inquiring minds want to know!

Just angel hair with a tomatoy sauce. I'm a minimal kinda gal when it comes to most things, including food.

I've been still going with my Square-Enix fix. I just finished FFVII and started on X/X-2 Remaster. The PSN version has the option to change between the original and new mixes of the soundtrack.

I just gotta be careful. Sometimes I can go a little overkill with the grinding.Last time I played this on my PS3, I clocked in 163.5 hours as of my final save. What can I say? I got a tad carried away building Ribbon shields for my entire party for the Dark Aeons. The bastards are hard yo. :P

Final fantasy eh.

The only games of that I played were 13 and 13 part 2. I enjoyed 13, couldn't finish part 2, didn't enjoy it at all.

I've also been told by many that 13 was one of the worst in the series, lol I had nothing to compare it too! xD

Been playing Stardew and World's Dawn a little bit last night and today and so far they are not disapointing though i'm finding myself doing Stardew more, something oddly relaxing about clearing out my land.

Ugh, that's like getting into Star Wars for the first time and watching Phantom Menace. I've played all of the numbered Final Fantasy games except for VIII. XIII was the worst of them, complete with a huge and unwieldy codex that was a nightmare to navigate through.

My love of the franchise is at least partially nostalgia. My dad picked up the first FF back in 1990 when it first came out for the NES. So when I hear the Prelude, I think of my family as a kid. :)

This weekend just mmmm so much patriotic goodness happened over here lol.

I learned pretty epic and sad family history, my great grandad on my Dad's side was a deeply nationalistic man, fluent in Irish and very pro IRA. He had a series of safe houses where he hid rebels who were fleeing from the British. One particular safe house is still there, Eamonn deValera stayed there for a time. He corresponded with my great grandad regularly as he gave safe harbour to many rebels over the years and during the Civil War many anti-treaty soldiers too.

I'm hoping to see his war medals during the week. My uncle took them out for the 1916 Centenary rememberance here.

Another great grand uncle on my mother's side was part of one of the many flying columns during the War of Indepencence. Sadly he died from TB at the age of 29, his health detoritated rapidly as he was on the run from the British for years.

All these family stories make me want to dig deeper into our history, just so damn fascinating. If only I could have talked to my Great grandad, I'd drive him mad with questions lol.

There's been a couple documentaries on British telly, but the news largely focused on covering the memorials and parades that took place to mark the centenary, but didn't shy from how unflattering our part in it all was.

Might have to catch the documentaries on iPlayer, am curious now myself given how the history we get taught in schools rarely focuses on anything from Scotland, Ireland or Wales whatsoever... for probably a lot of extremely good reasons.

(Because appropriate British guilt is appropriate)

The other thing that was on telly this weekend was the Queen turning 90, which also had some good documentaries being shown.

Got in a 10k run, 3 hours of boxing and finished off Automatron for Fallout 4 on one of my two days off this week.
Tomorrow looks like more of the same with a little yoga in place of video games.

I'm pretty sure there's like a law or some **** about people who like X2 smack talking other FF games*.
If there isn't, there should be. :P

*as someone who likes XIII, I really can't talk lol.

I think my surgical wound might finally be closed for good it's been closed for almost a week now, still hurts when it gets pressure applied to it but the other times it reopens after a day or two so I'm hoping this means that I'm finally closed up for good now.

FFXIII gets a lot of hate from people due to;

How the game makes repeated use of the same dialogue, the frequency of characters standing around stating their motivations, transitions to new locations always involve crashes that they all miraculously survive, a couple plot holes you could drive a Fal'Cie through and how 90% of the game has the map consist of one long "corridor" that you cannot leave or depart from any any point.

The voice acting cast is wonderful though, it's the most positive thing people can agree on.

Fair enough.

It was the only one I finished so I didn't have anything to compare it with aha. I liked Lightning and Fang oh and the soundtrack was pretty sweet too.

I'm happy for a few reasons right now. I've been working extra hard lately, working more hours, taking on more clients, and spending the money that I earn more wisely, and it's finally starting to pay off. My savings account is steadily crawling to where it needs to be. And I found out that I have this weekend off, which is a nice surprise since it's the first one in about a month and I wasn't expecting it! (I'm working a side job on Sunday, but still. I get Friday night and Saturday off!)

And as luck would have it, my bestie's off work too, so we're going to treat ourselves to a fun night out for being so very good the past few weeks. ;)

I'd recommend FF7, since it's probably the most popular of the series. It's also getting a remake (finally) for the 8th Gen, I'm hoping that the only changes are to the graphics and not the story.

That would be salmiakki, very popular in Finland. From booze to candy.

Just heard that the room I'm moving into has been getting some work done to it, I'm hoping that, it means it's been getting scrubbed and scrapped and not just painted (It really needs to just be bathed in bleach and other sterilizers) but going to try and see if I can  get a solid answer on if I can keep  my couch or not. Obviously hoping for a positive answer on this.

Oh my gods. After literally almost an hour on the phone with Social Security, I finally got ahold of a real person. Turns out all that needs to be done is to have either me or my husband bring our original marriage certificate and my ID into the office. Looks like the Sasquatch and I have a trip to the SS office next week. Once my birth certificate shows up, i"ll be golden with my ID stuff matching my photo ID.

Blessed be to the Lord and Lady and the Flying Spaghetti Monster. I'm so relieved that I am almost in happy tears. :D :D :D

Here's another one: Playing games co-op with my husband. He got the fan cable I needed for my PC and talked me into playing ToR with him for awhile. Our only debate is Imperial versus Republic. He wants to play a Jedi Knight and I miss my Imperial Agent. :P
