Is it just me or does anyone else despise this mini-game? The connect the circuits isn't too bad, but this one really irritates me. I wish there was a way to eliminate or let you get around it with omni-gel like you could in ME 1 when you no longer wanted to fool with this nonsense (I decided not to use a stronger word).

Compared to ME1 it's easy as hell. In ME1 if you make one small mistake you can't retry and gotta waste Omni-gel.
You know how small these buttons are on the controller and how pushed together they are? It's hard to fluently press A,B,Y,X without making a mistake.

The minigames were boring and they're kindergarten-level puzzle as in ME1. Not sure why they think its a good idea anyway. I like the datapad hacking more since I could finish it fast with just some wasd and spacebar. The wire thing is more annoying tho especially when you miss and have to do over.

I like the minigames, but an omnigel option would be good.

In ME1 I dreaded the mini-games except for Mira. I hated being an early soldier with no hacking and poor as a church mouse with no omni-gels. I really hated getting to something and not having high enough tech to open it - even with omni gel. The Laser to get to Liara was not bad, and the 'Hal' computer was not bad - especially could you could just shoot the power supply.
I thought ME2's mini-games were worlds beyond ME1's. I enjoyed them all. The colored lines patterns were easy as pie, and the circuit board actually followed the conductors on the PCB.

I don't hate or love them. They are way better than the ME1 stuff, but nothing I really miss in the 3rd game.
OP, If you are playing on PC, this mod might be interesting for you:

They're not bad. Most of my playthroughs I skip them except the ones I have to hack to move the story forward

How do you install the Mod? The mod site requires registeration and I don't want to do that until I know how to install the Mod. I understand the game is not mod friendly. At least not like the Sims.

And what is the best way to handle the Paragon/Renegade interrupts? They seem to appear and disappear before I can do anything with them. I really dislike something that is an unexpected timed event.

I haven't tried it, but apparently it works like a DLC -pretty much copy/paste with a little bit of original file overrides.
Registering on Nexus is totally worth it, imo (I also didn't want to at first, lol).
Apart from this mod, there is a shorter loading screens one for ME2 which is great (a bit of a hassle, if you don't have all DLCs and just paste the thing over, like I did
)
(I'm also assuming that you know about the 'Mass Affinity' unofficial multicore patch, otherwise the shorter loading screens mod is somewhat useless.)
And there is a vast list of mods for ME3, which are really great (but you should probably experience the original game first).
Not to mention mods for many other games.

For those of us how have problems with these here is a way to slow down the timer: http://cheatengine.org/ You launch ME, then this. You select the ME2 executable and then check the speed hack box. Lower the speed to something less than 1, say .2 when you do a mini-game and when you are through you raise the speed value to 1.

At the risk of being alone in the world in my opinion, I (much) prefer the ME1 puzzles to the datapad puzzle in ME1. I'm generally against these types of minigames as a general point though, because almost no one knows how to design a game that doesn't interrupt the flow of the game. On that point, ME3 got it right by doing away with them altogether. The datapad takes way too long for me to favour it. If the game takes more than 10 seconds, it's an obstacle to having fun, and at that point, you're just developing a feature that does nothing but annoy people and waste 3 minutes of their life per playthrough.
ME3 got it right, and removed the games entirely.

That mod is awesome and makes replays of ME2 much more fun, I was surprised at how much of a difference something small like that makes.
Also must agree that the Nexus is well worth registering for. I even went as far as paying for a Premium membership to support the site.

yeah I agree I've been using Nexus a lot lately mostly for DAI hair mods though. I don't have a premium account but there's a fwe good mods on there in fact just found a couple that interested me for DA2 next time I go through it. Haven't got this mod though but seeing as I'm not that bothered by the minigames it's not a problem for me.
