I'm sorry that this may not help but did you search for the 'Writing on the Champion's Methods' book located near Blackwall in the Skyhold stables, and the merchant Willvan vendor items for sale? Those should be the only two places I know. I can't remember the exact place in the stables though.

Edit: Wow, I misread the beginning of your post. So if you got the book, is it in your inventory? If so, maybe speak to Lord Chancer again to see what he might say? If you did pick up the book, you should have the 'Way of the Champion' codex entry. If you do, and have no book..is it possible to accidentally sell it or a bug considering you have the Reaver book? I'm not sure but I hope it works out for you.

Do you know off hand which number the codex is?  so i can double check..

The Codex entry number depends on which DLCs are installed. Accirding to the wiki, it's 70 in the base game, +3 with JoH, +5 with The Descent, + 11 with Trespasser. History section.

Alan covered it. It is codex 70 under History and plus (+3JoH, +5TD, +11T) with the DLCs. The book is located on the table near Blackwall. It should have the wooden toy that he works on during a cutscene. It'll be on that exact table. Let us know how it goes. If it doesn't work for you, I don't have this on a PC so I don't have information on console commands, ect though.

I found the book!   I am not sure what version of the game others have, but the book wasn't near Blackwall, but it was in the stables. No wonder why i was getting confused with those directions. I have the game of the year version.   He is standing near the stairs where you can enter skyhold throne room, across from the tavern, I have not talked to him, so maybe he moves after? The book was down in the stable building, on a box under the stairs, near a table..   I ran around the whole area looking for tables.  So that tip helped me, so many thanks

 

No clue why the book also was not for sale by that vendor in Val Royal either..  /shrug

 

I think the book i remember picking up was champions of the just, i was confused

 

 

I guess i was not bugged after all, But still odd the store did not have it, and he is in a different spot that i read, and people said.. No wonder i was having such a hard time finding it.  But here are some pictures, in case others are having trouble locating the book too.

Yes! That's awesome, man. I was hoping it would work out for you. I am almost to Skyhold and about to get the Champion spec as well.

I forgot that's where he starts as well as a few other companions when you get to Skyhold. It completely went over my head.

I'm glad you didn't have to restart on your playthrough/replay a save. Take it easy, bro.

thanks again..  and i wasn't going to go back.. I was thinking about just going reaver instead..  When i play Bio-ware games now, i tend to just pick a party, and play through, then next time i play i get a new party with new guys, and it's like an all new game.. Sorta

 

So i guess he does more, i have seen a few move, like varric moved, guess he is another..  But now i have the pictures just in case anyone else is having trouble.

 

 

BTW with out adding any spoilers, Have you tried the party i am running, Solas, Sera and Cassandra.. what great party banter.  It has me in stitches more often than not. Now back to the exalted plains to help the elves.. and be lectured more about Red Jenny
