Trilogy all the way. Keep the same companions throughout the whole thing and really build up the relationships. This is Dragon Age's weakness, at the moment you really care, the game is over.

Didn't they say it will be another trilogy? That's what I'm remembering.

We'll have playable races...in MULTIPLAYER. huehuehuehue

I got to play in a team composed of a Volus, a Vorcha, a Collector and a Geth Juggernaught.
Say what you want guys, but it was an amazing sight

I am pretty sure it is going to be a standalone entry with this character, to flesh out this new galaxy. I am sure if it does will there will be a sequel, after all we are talking about EA.

Personally, I think it would be interesting if they did something set pre Mass Effect 1, like the Krogan Rebellions or Rachni Wars.

If done correctly, andromeda could be a new trilogy and due to andromedas massive size which is 220 kly in comparison to milky way being only 9.5 x 1017 km or 100–180 kly in diameter. Andromeda has a whole 40-120kly on milky way, so I think it's conceivable that two trilogys could be set here. Though I hope ME becomes somewhat like star wars in the sense that it just keeps going, it's set in space which practically writes itself due to space being such a massive thing that continues to expand.

My hope is that ME eventually encompasses the NGC 6872 spiral galaxy which is 212 million light years away. It is five times larger than the milky way while andromeda is approximately 220,000 light years across and of course andromeda Is the largest galaxy of the Local Group, which also contains the Milky Way, the Triangulum Galaxy, and about 44 other smaller galaxies. Fourty four, four four people, 44 other galaxies just waiting to be explored. It's amazing and just mind numbing what could be explored and could be with the ME universe.

Crazy thought incoming: What if Andromeda is the small place that we start? What if the game covers the whole spiral galaxy? Would that be something else or what?

Stand-alone installments from here on out, would be ideal.

This.

Space has to limits in exploring and writing.

How about DA being like DA and ME like ME?

Considering that DA is now more like ME than its first game lol.

Hopefully here to infinity...well,not really, coz we are not gonna live forever. I would like it to be at least a trilogy...with a new hero. Shepard's story will always be remembered,at least by me. The trilogy of ME1-3 told Shepard's tale perfectly, from rise to struggle to ultimate heroism. Let Andromeda be at least a trilogy, don't let it be another big budget single game, that spends all the money on graphical crap that would be forgotten in a year...let it be a puzzle, and ME:A is only one piece, leave it for us to fill the pieces!

I hope for trilogy but if Andromeda will be standalone I would like to see something like Dragon Age 2. It was great to see how time passes by, characters starting caring for each other (or hating each other) etc.

LOL in b4 ban.  I'm impressed you've made it since Jan 16 though.  I could learn a few things.

I don't like when a company says "This is gonna be standalone/trilogy/saga" Because if they feel like the game can end in the second installment, but already said it was a trilogy then they have to make up for a trilogy; adding nonsense and story that is not really quality content anymore.

As long as it makes sense, I say they make 2-3-4 games continuing with the same story/characters if it's not forced.

The DA approach is interesting, but I wont deny that I enjoyed a lot the way ME story was evolving.

This is one of the reasons why I like ME over DA, having the same squad mates and protagonist for 2-3 games is nice because you get attached to them. Of course, that is a problem on its own because then you can't let them go... but still.

But then they wouldn't be able to tell human-centric ego stroking stories about how superspecialawesome humans are.

Except devs will f*ck it up. Every single time.

It's never going to change because that's the leverage humanity has in the Mass Effect universe.

Human master race.

Yes. I'd rather a new cast of characters than watch BioWare fumble trying to keep old ones interesting.

They have no leverage over the other species. When it comes to the other races coming over, they are in the same boat literally and metaphorically. And when it comes to the native races, humanity and the other Milky Way races are the new kids on the block.

True and true.

But, the special treatment the humans are given IS the leverage they have in the universe itself.

I can't imagine what would be the point of playing as a human and being encompassed as one if we weren't being seen as the center of the universe.

There are many popular stories where the protagonists aren't the center of the universe but are just participants in a greater story.

Well it isn't this one.

Unfortunately. That's the problem.

Even if we have to have a center of the universe story, there is no objectively good story reason why it has to be human-only.

Yes, I so want to be stuck with the same companions for 3 games. Maybe we will get numerous versions of Jacob to pass the time.

Like DA:

each a stand alone game with a new protagonist

a new team

a new area of the galaxy

a new conflict

major choices from the previous games can be checked off in a keep

No continuous railroading of a protagonist into relationships with whatever NPC was most popular with the fanbase, just a fresh start

No because then they always end on a freaking cliff-hanger to set up the next title. Say what you want about me 3s ending but atleast it felt like a resolution to shepards story.
