I have read that you should do this mission early, but that it is difficult. So when should you do this mission and what is the best way to do it. If I do it early would I be attempting more than I could handle at this point? I am thinking about doing it after I get Dr. Mordin Solus.

I've done it early, it was fine for me. But you don't need to unless you plan on taking her on many missions with you and want her loyal.
EDIT - Unless there's some upgrade or weapon that I'm not remembering....the Particle Beam that you pick up on Horizon can be useful so maybe waiting till after that is a good idea.
Just try and not second guess too much. If you research too many things you'll spoiler yourself massively. I've made that mistake myself. Just play, and if something gets too hard turn down the difficulty. ![]()

Good advice. Actually I am, what I call a casual player. I am playing for the story and adventure not the combat. I am playing on easy. I greatly admire the folks who play on insanity, but I get killed too often and wind up frustrated and then I quit. Actually the only reason I really want to do this early is to get the evening dress in my wardrobe.

The main reason for this mission to play as early as possible is likely the SMG Locust for many players, I think. But not all classes can use it. Soldier can't for example, so if you play one, you can also do this mission later on.
I tend to do it early because of the Locust, and if not for the weapon, it's also a really fun mission for me, probably one of the best loyalty missions ![]()

My Shepard is an adept so the SMG should be useful. I do know that that's the real reason to do this mission early.

Knew there had to be a proper reason for it, I'm clueless about which weapon is in which mission. I'll cut them entirely for RP only to realise ages later there was a cool gun I needed. ![]()
I love the setting, I wanna live there. That view, damn it's beautiful. Get outta the way Shep I wanna take a screenshot. ![]()

I did that with Bioshock. I wasn't enjoying the combat at all so in those circumstances I'll go with easy just to get it over with. There are many who relish the combat and play on the harder levels but I'm not one of them. Sometimes I like a good challenge, and other times I just want to get it done so I can get to the cutscene.
I looked up so much about DA and ME when I first played them that I ended up spoiling so so many things. I regret it. For example, would I have guessed about Blackwall? I'll never know.
I should've just fired it up and gone with it. That's what I'll do with Andromeda, even if I mess up or regret a decision. At least I'll have the surprise.

I tend to do Zaeed and Kasumi loyalty first since their mission didn't count for Horizon to trigger but did count for Collector Ship... and theres alignment check

As someone mentioned, you can get the Locust SMG on Kasumi's mission. A lot of players really like the Locust.
You can also get a Tech Damage upgrade on this mission. This allows you to get a third Tech Damage upgrade before Horizon. (The first is purchasable from a Citadel store, the second is found on Archangel's recruitment mission.
Getting two Tech Damage upgrades unlocks the Tech Duration upgrade. Getting three Tech Damage upgrades unlocks the Tech Cooldown upgrade. This is good for tech-based characters and can also help improve squadmates with tech powers.

Me neither. I guess I'm slowly getting there, after more playthroughs. I only know the Locust is in her mission because it was so great on my Adept and that stayed with me, haha.
It is! I also love that whole heist idea, it's just fun!

I usually do it after I pick up Zaeed, Archangel and Mordin on Omega. It's recommended as others said for the weapon, but Zaeed's is recommended to be done early if you want to keep his loyalty by not helping him with Vido.

This was not mentioned: doing Kasumi's mission early makes her Shadow Strike more powerful vis-a-vis the enemy. As you level up the enemies gain more health and more protection. But there is only so far you can level up Kasumi's Shadow Strike. Once you rank up Shadow Strike to rank 4 it is not going to get any more powerful, yet the enemies will keep becoming more powerful until you reach level 30.
This decreasing power of Shadow Strike vis-a-vis the enemies is particularly noticeable on insanity difficulty. At level 7 Kasumi's Rapid Shadow Strike will one-shot kill a full health, unshielded enemy. So you can strip the enemy's shields with one of Shepard's powers or with your weapons and then order Kasumi to Shadow Strike. This will guarantee the enemy dies and that she is almost instantly ready to use again. By the time you hit level 17 or 19 her Rapid Shadow Strike has become much less powerful vis-a-vis the enemy and will no longer one-shot kill a full health basic-level enemy.
Another reason to do her mission before Horizon is to get her Flashbang. Using Flashbang against Harbinger will cause him to not be able to use any powers for about 50 seconds. Basically, when Harbinger shows up you can have Kasumi Flashbang him and then forget about him while you deal with the rest of the Collectors.
When I play Engineer or Adept I often make Kasumi's mission my first mission after Freedom's Progress, even before getting Mordin, in order to get the Locust. As a Soldier, since I can't use the Locust, I put off the mission for a bit, but still do it fairly early for the reasons mentioned above.

**Little, enemy related spoiler below***
If done early, I find that using the Arc projector helps a lot...
(I also find Zaeed's mission harder to do early on.)

Spoiler(I also find Zaeed's mission harder to do early on.)
Zaeed's mission is very easy if you take up the correct position in the final room. The only hard part, really is the very first encounter, and that is mainly because of that stupid Fenris mech. Here is a Soldier insanity example. Adept insanity. Engineer insanity.
Also, the Ymir's on Kasumi's mission I do not find to be a problem. They do not approach very close and all you really need to do is just time the use of Overload or Energy Drain for the brief window in-between when they are shooting their gun and when they are about to shoot their missile. (Or if you are a Soldier, time your shotgun blasts for that brief window). It is the Vanguards that I find I need to be careful about. They can be difficult to deal with because you have so many other people shooting at you even as they get closer and closer. Insanity Adept version. Insanity Soldier version. Insanity Engineer version (where I die once. This episode is titled "Kasumi kills Shepard"
)
