There are weapon upgrades and armor and prototypes but do they only affect the gameplay?

From what I can gather on my first play through, the weapons and armour available to the squad for the "suicide mission" have no effect on the way it plays out.

Only squad loyalty, ship upgrades and your decisions as to how to play the mission and who does what will affect the outcome.

The upgrades for the Normandy are important, as are squad loyalty. That's all.

Is the Med Bay Scar removing upgrade required?

That's 50K of credit I have better plans for if not needed.

No it isn't, that is just the quickest way to remove your scars.

I personally like my glowing scars, but I had extra resources, so I bought the advanced med bay anyway. Never used it, probably never will.

So the medbay isn't needed for survival? If not well I just wasted 50 thousands resources...

Don't let Thane be a captain of a squad. For the love of god don't do it.

Ok, Someone give me a rundown. I had ship upgrades and loyalty and still 3 people died.

The tech specialist died

the team distracting guy died and one person also died where the rest of the squad was while I was fighting the end boss

I started a new game plus*

Choosing the right people seems to be the key for 'most' people.

Tali for vents.
Garrus for alternate squads, both times.
Jacob to escort the crew back.
Samara to hold the shield.

Everyone lived

For me

Legion for vents

Miranda for teams

Grunt for escort

Samara to shield

Tali died so I will bring her on the team. I hear techies dies easily so Tali and Mordin will go with me. Legion will always manage

When you reach the first meeting point one of my characters took a hit as they were providing covering fire while the massive door was closing. Survived though, not sure if it may have been a fatality if armor upgrades are not high enough.

Ok squad loyalties I get. So only ship upgrades are needed NOT squad upgrades?

If so... what needs to be upgraded on the Normandy?

The only ship upgrades I didn't use were the med bay and the double probes. Everything else (except fr the scanner), I'd say take it.

I had full upgrades/loyalty and made choices that had people survive and I still had one person die at the very end. I wonder if it has to do with how long it takes to kill the boss vs how upgraded your squad is.

Squad upgrades have no effect on the outcome. Squad loyalty and ship enhancements (except the scanner, probe and med bay) are paramount, as well as the sort of personnel you assign for the pivotal tasks (specialist/squad leaders) during the end-game mission.

Oh, so who should I use for what on the final mission. From what I heard

Tali or Legion for vents.

Jacob or Grunt for Escort.

Miranda or Garrus for Leader.

Samara or SuZe for Barrier.

Does it matter who is with you on the last boss?

What do you guys think?

I heard that techs cant stand the holding battle so you should bring Tali and Mordin to the final boss battle

Hmm i used Tali for vents and she gets killed when closing the door. How the hell did you guys manage to keep her alive?

I replayed it and tried Legion in the Vents, same **** happend at the same spot. Rest of the team survived on both tries. There's gotta be more factors to this.

I took Legion. I rather have someone who doesnt feel stress doing that kind of mission. Plus he can calculate real fast with that computer.

This is what I did.

Second team leader at all times: Garrus
Specialist: Legion
Crew escort: Mordin
Biotic Barrier: Samara

And ofc. All ship upgrades, upgraded plating, shields, thanix cannon.
Im not sure the fuel, coupling and probe upgrades do anything but the medical bay is ofc irrelevant.
