For the end game, do only the Normandy upgrades and squad loyalty count?

This is probably what im going to do:

Legion for vents

Garrus leader

Escort: I dont know either Jacob or Grunt

Biotic: Samara

I herd that your crew gets taken on a mission.

I want to avoid that mission until i get all the upgrades and loyalty so i could go after them immediately.

How would i do that?

Garrus or Miranda for fireteam leaders, Legion or Tali for the vent hack, Samara or Jack for the biotic barrier. These are your options.

Also, I'm fairly convinced Mordin's chances of survival are improved by his prototype omni-tool, and I believe shielding and health upgrade decrease the chances of "random" deaths.

I did Legion and Grunt in Shepard's Squad, let Garrus lead the other squad both times, Thane did the vents (he died at the door), Jack led the crew back (she died), and Samara did the biotic shield.

Hmm i used Tali for vents and she gets killed when closing the door. How the hell did you guys manage to keep her alive?

I replayed it and tried Legion in the Vents, same **** happend at the same spot. Rest of the team survived on both tries. There's gotta be more factors to this.

I left both Mordin and Tali with Garrus as the Second Squad, and they both survived.

I figure that upgrades do count, at least to some degree. In the first section, the team leader gets shot and I figure low/no shield upgrades would cause them to die. Since everyone also uses ARs during cutscenes, I figure that they help to. Also, speed is a -huge- factor.

Hm, perhaps you didn't upgrade your omni-tools enough. I'd be willing to bet a few credits that omni-tool upgrades are a factor.

On my Renegade Femshep playthrough am expecting casualties most likely.

Am looking to go through without Grunt, Legion, Samara and Tali, so that means no Shield upgrades, so maybe someone dying on the ship. One of the lesser techs is obviously going to be sent through the vent but am going to do my best to ensure the vent doors are opened ASAP as I believe this has something to do with their survival (seeing as people have reported even Legion and Tali can die at the door). All who go in will be loyal, Armor and Guns are upgraded.

So yup, I am not expecting it to go smoothly, but am going to give it my best shot to make sure most survive hehe

Considering full upgrades and special weps for specific characters.

I choose Legion for the Specialist.

Garrus for the second team both times.

Crew escort as Thane.

Barrier as Samara.

No deaths, casualties and everyone got out alive, used Tali and Grunt for the mission, but that never really made a difference.

The decision who survives seems to be a bit random . When I defeated the big reaper the first time, Jack, who was in the team with the members I didn't choose for the final fight, died. After a reload of a previous savegame I played the fight again and she survived.

Do you guys think whether or not you maxed out the squad's loyalty talents has a bearing on whether they live or die?

Legion for vents as I had heard that Tali is less able to withstand the heat.

Jacob for Escort as he had biotics and good gun skills.

Miranda or Garrus for Leader - I just made sure that Jack was NOT in the same squad if I had chosen Miranda.

Jack for Barrier because it felt as she were the strongest biotic in the team and one who would be stubborn enough to last if time became an issue.

As to my own squad - always picked Zaeed as one member and for all but the time I used Jack for Barrier I picked Miranda. The one time I did not pick Miranda I chose Samara.

End result - no loss to squadmates. Had all the armour upgrades. Anything that was a unique squadmate upgrade was done. About the only things lacking when I went was 2 or 3 levels of upgrades for SMG and Heavy Pistol. Everything else was pretty much done. I only had one reload and that was because of the flawed cover system that would not allow me to shoot someone off to my side, even though I had a clear shot, without standing up and getting swarmed. Second time through I just went to a different piece of cover and blew right through everything.

Also, I believe if you have someone do a job they are ill suited to do, that will have consequences- for instance, I went through the suicide mission with no casualties with all the upgrades and loyalties, whereas my friend who also had all the upgrade and loyalties lost Mordin after choosing him to go through the steam vents. (I chose Tali)

Did you make any changes to her or switch other members in/out of your reaper fight team on the 2nd runthrough?

Vents: Tali (best organic tech on team)

Second fireteam leader: Miranda (proven leader)

Escort: Zaeed (tough SOB)

Holding team: Garrus (knows guerrilla tactics)

Barrier: Samara (strength of a matriarch? hands down best choice)

I used Legion and Jack to fight the final battle. Everyone lived.

I also heard that if you have any character in your team at any point during the mission, they are automatically exempt from death.

Is that true? Cause if that's the case you all that seem to be losing Mordin should take him along with you at least once during the mission just in case.

Im pretty sure thats just for gameplay. What resources do you need for them. Element zero i dont have that much of.

I lost one, which was Zaed cause he wasnt loyal. Being paragon its almost impossible. I had close to 80% or more and still didnt have the last option at his loyalty mission. Didn't loose anyone except him. Which is funny cause it shows his dead body and yet joker says we didnt loose anyone(bug imo) I have all the upgrades. Does anyone know it the 360 achievement is based of all the crew members(non team) or just team. I don't believe Zaeed should count against you, hes technically DLC. Some people don't update the game and would never be able to get the dont loose any teamember.

Well, considering a lot of people are complaining about Mordin dying, and my Mordin was just fine, I'd say the only x-factor is his prototype omni-tool.

Also, it's logical to assume that omni-tool upgrades help Tali and Legion hack faster, and thus allow them to seal the door and avoid death.

If you grab the Reaper IFF you will set into motion a chain of events that completely screws you over. I'd recommend doing everything you want to do before that point. Wait too long and you will earn the wrath of the drunken cougar that is Doctor Chakwas. Also, a bunch of people will die.

No changes. I used the same members, Garrus and Grunt.

my first try I did garrus first group leader, legion in the vents, zaeed escort, mordin second group leader, jack doing the barrier. mordin died. then i tried grunt as second group leader, grunt died. got frustrated because I had all the upgrades and everyone was loyal, so I did a quick search and found out that I should use garrus for the second fire team as well, and that worked out. brought legion and miranda with me to the finale.

I did Zaeed's mission and was @ 100% Paragon and I had the relevant dialogue option in the end, so it's definitely doable to gain his loyalty as a Paragon. Problem was, by choosing that mission I lost half my crew, since I didn't go through the relay immediatelly after the Collector attack on Normandy. So I reloaded a save and skipped his personal mission and he still lived through the suicide mission, despite of not being loyal (it goes without saying that I didn't assign any special role to him).

I didn't have any problems with Zaeed, at full paragon.

Just finished a few minutes ago.

Vents: Legion

Second fireteam leader: Jacob

Escort: Grunt

Holding team: Jacob again

Barrier: Samara

Everybody made it.
