This is it this was the last straw what a mean b***tch is she . In my current playthrough i kept Blackwall out of prison so he was flirting with Josie  all nice and wel he gave her flowers and stuff so during one of my quests where the b***tch and Blackwall were in my party she said something so mean to Blackwall   i do not know the exact words anymore but if someone would say that to me i would probably cry so for me no more Vivienne if i start a new character the next time i will not even talk to that guy in Val Royeaux anymore

Too emotional, OP. Vivienne is a condescending b*tch, but unfortunately she's also very competent, which means she's the kind of person you should keep where you can observe them. For instance, I knew right at the first meeting that she staged that confrontation at her party. So I rarely take her with me, but I always recruit her. I like to imagine that I tell Leliana to keep her under observation.

(Though I have to admit - kudos to whoever wrote her, and Mrs. Varma. Both did a perfect job, because obviously, I'd never feel anywhere this strong about a badly written or badly acted character.)

@Leldra maybe you are right that it is a to emotional OP but that's the way i play a game i can get attached to digital scripted people or in this case not attached and competent in what way ?

...guess I'm the exception lol.  She's a ******, but she knows it and I absolutely love her for it.  Plus, despite my main being a mage I did often agree with Viv in regards to her opinions on the Rebel Mages, though I've made enough rambly posts on these forums in reference to that.  The only thing I didn't get from Vivienne that I wanted was why she personally was so cautious around magic and afraid of mages (including herself).  There was a personal story there, but like with Vivienne's moment to shine not existing in "Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts" (a place where she absolutely should have shined) I feel like it was cut.

 

Plus to be fair Blackwall takes quite a few jabs at here through their Banter, it is not nearly one-sided.

Blackwall's attitude towards people of nobility is quite *Redacted*, so I don't see why Vivienne would spare his feelings.

Most notably, she's competent at politics and intrigue. Thus, she can do some damage if she acts against you. Better keep her close. As for how to deal with her, I think the leader of a large organization can't afford to act on emotion alone. You have to think things through, evaluate the consequences of your actions, and act only after some deliberation.

And yes you are right the people who wrote her did a good job or maybe not but i am not familiar with Mrs Varma though

@CardButton yes maybe you are the only one out there who likes her     sorry to say this but i am not loving her for it    and i do not agree with you on that mages should be free yes true there bad mages but there are enough good mages to why do they have to suffer for what the others did but that's my opinion. I cannot answer that question why she was affraid of other mages ( including herself )

 

And on the banter thing i have not heard that banter yet he is always trying to get on her good side

I agree with you on that one that i cannot afford myself of being a leader of a large organization to be emotional but she brings out the worst in me

I think the thing about Vivienne and Blackwall is, she literally just can't comprehend him.  Blackwall sincerely wants to help others, from the bottom of his heart, no matter what.  Vivienne, who has never had an unselfish thought in her life, finds him alien and threatening.

My only problem with Viv is the constant use of saying 'my dear'. I didn't mind her dialogue when she was talking with other companions.

I like Vivienne. But i like everyone and recruit everyone no matter what.  I have characters that i enjoy more then others but they're not real so i'm not going to let any of them annoy me or anger me or fall in love with any of them like i would in real life.
