I stopped recruiting Vivienne months ago when I found myself unable to tolerate her character anymore. It's not dislike per say, she just annoys me.
The last time she was in my party I gave her a fake wyvern heart. I found it oddly satisfying.

Patricia08, I agree.. In my next game she will not be recruited. I didn't like the way she mouth off to my inquisitor about the mages and Cole.
BTW. I enjoy my games better by getting into character and that includes getting emotional at times..
Solas and Dorian are all the mages I need for the story and DLC. If I want a Knight-Enchanter, i'll make one of my Inquisitors into one.
@AnimalBoy you to why oh why
i cannot believe that someone could like someone like her but that's my opinon what a b***tch for me there are only two characters that i am not fond of and i mentioned them both in this posts and i know that they are not real but when i play a game they become real

I've been in this argument too many times before on this board so i'm not going to get into it that much. But for me, i just see them as characters and i'm not going to feel too strongly about a fictional character. Love or hate is too strong for me too feel about people in a game.
@Dabrikishaw Okay i can understand why you cannot tolerate her anymore and why she annoys you
Okay good that it was satisfying
.-snip- The only thing I didn't get from Vivienne that I wanted was why she personally was so cautious around magic and afraid of mages (including herself). There was a personal story there, but like with Vivienne's moment to shine not existing in "Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts" (a place where she absolutely should have shined) I feel like it was cut.-snip-
@ArcaneEsper Okay i agree with you there a bit that she is wel written as a character but to make her such a b***tch
And the Knight Enchanter build wel for me BW distroyed that build anyway so not so handy anymore
@Tidus thank you and you are right with her big mouth she should keep her big mouth shut with duct tape or something
but i'm affraid there was no duct tape yet in that time period
Me to
I agree and Kara 1.0 did not recruit Viv but, given the way I play games, and these types of games it got a liiiittttllllleee annoying having to drag Dorian out everywhere for Trespasser/ Descent/ JOH. Just ugh....don't know why it bothers me so much but it did.
@Dabrikishaw true Solas and Dorian are all the mages that you need
@KaiserShep i mostly hate her and she always gets on my nerves lately wel during some playthroughs i cannot say she is that interesting anymore and she is not your ally she has her own agenda
She's an ugly clothes/hat rack in my games because I don't want to listen to her insult my companions but even so, she just adored my female elf in my last game and basically all I did is not say the wrong things to her. ![]()
@Krypplingz Thank you
@Al Foley Thank you i have not played the DLC's yet
@robertmarylin totaly agree with you on the first part and i did that to in one of my playthroughs that i was nice to her ( very dificult btw
) but no more
As someone who used her as my main mage for my entire first playthrough, I was very disappointed with her role in the story. Considering her big thing is supposed to be political intrigue and maneuvering, she does nothing of value. She sits at Skyhold and you are supposed to headcanon that she is doing useful things. Wicked Hearts would have been a great mission to incorporate her. But in a cast of mostly unnecessary people, she ends up feeling the most poorly leveraged.
Oh well, at least her banter with Sera is funny. But then Sera's banter with everyone is funny.
I free Blackwall because I like full party and "100%" approval with everybody but how can someone have any minor interest in him is beyond me... if I can't even picture someone bothering with him there is nothing more alien than someone being angry with Vivienne for insulting him. It is like insulting an inanimate object. I am only concerned for the sanity of people talking to Blackwall, talking to a ghost like Cole is ok, but Blackwall is so null he doesn't exist at all, game should crash when you try to put him in the party. He and bull are 2 empty character slots in the party, Cole would be a close 3rd but Solas makes Cole kind of barely interesting.
I despise Vivienne and her positions but at least she makes me feel something, besides she is a fashionista wich is the most amazing quality in a human being and makes her automically absolved of any sin.
Inquisition is the DA game with more boring characters ever, I thought Sebastian was useless but he seems deep compared to DAI clowns. Dorian, his drama is way too cliché, well he is a walking cliché. Also Bull is a walking BDSM preacher cliché, so yeah it makes sense for two cliché guys to marry and have clichéd babies, too bad nothing interesting comes out of it except for a blood magic male pregnancy from Dorian to please his daddy ghost with half qunari grandchildren. Blackwall is something that got boring 10 years after Jesus said forgive the killers, thieves and prostitutes, so yeah, 2000 years ago his story would be awesome!
Real characters are: Solas, Sera, Cassandra, Varric, Vivienne and Cole. Some you love, some you hate.
Vivienne is everything wrong with the Circle and the status quo regarding magic. If recruiting her didn't strengthen the Inquistion (via her combat abilities as a squad member and her war table missions) I would gladly leave her to fade into obsurity in Orlais. As it is I am forced to grit my teeth through every conversation with her.
Vivienne horrible person for being a meany and hurting Blackwalls feelings.
Blackwall is behind a plot to murder a whole family....but least he brings flowers!
Vivienne is awesome. She was right to criticize Thom, and he even agreed with her, actually. He knew it couldn't possibly go anywhere, and Viv was just trying to look out for Josephine. She thought she was being intimidated into being courteous to a man who had murdered in the past and was now taking an unhealthy fascination with her. Logically, even if Thom had truly reformed, the situation itself could cause harm to Josephine's work performance, thus harming the Inquisition's efforts. Better that she not have the distraction weighing on her mind. I can't fault Vivienne for this. She knows how chevaliers are.
The only problem I have with Vivienne's presence isn't really with her, but rather that BioWare doesn't allow the Inquisitor to really debate her or prove her wrong. But even this wasn't a significant problem for me since my Inquisitor agreed with most of her views. I think the only thing I disagreed with her about was keeping the templars on lyrium. I could voice my position, but she had hers and that was just all there was to the conversation. No real option to make a counterpoint.
But I don't get why people complain. Isn't this the strong independent woman that "everyone" has been asking for? I made her Divine.
