The bug:

The Blade of Tidarion schematic is listed as a staff blade; not a staff.

This causes both

1. the confusion that someone (me, perhaps?) might craft it to use as a blade; and

2. the serious problem that runes for staves are not permitted on it, and runes that are forbidden to staves are.

The mod request:

For whatever reason, the Blade produces less powerful staves than other named tier 3 staff schematics. I like giving Solas the Staff of Corruption, and Dorian gets Wrath of Lovias or the Archon Fire Staff. Viv, being a KE, should get the Blade of Tidarion.

But if I do that, she tends to be at least 20 DPS less than the other two, even without allowing for runes.

So my mod request: please make a mod that makes the Blade schematic about the same DPS as the other named tier 3 staves.

If it's possible/relatively easy to do so, I'd also like the mod to fix the bug above.

Thank you, very much, to anyone who so much as reads this and considers the mod. Double and triple thanks to folks who give it a try, successful or not!

The "Bug" is not a bug as far as I know. As for success in your request I'd suggest you to post on nexusmods or daitools.

It is not a bug. The Blade of Tidarion is a staff that functions as a greatsword for mage characters. The schematic is correct. The blade allows the mage to strike enemies while casting spells. The blade is made of magical energy.

It is a bug. I'll explain...

Firstly, the schematic subtext (displayed under the underline below the list of schematics) is "Tier 3 Staff Blade Schematic". All the staves are 'Tier X Staff Schematic".

Staff upgrades are listed as "Tier X Staff Blade Schematic" or "Tier X Staff Grip Schematic".

Because the Blade of Tidarion is listed exactly the same way as the staff blade upgrades, of course people expect it to be an upgrade.

Thus, I would like it to be listed as "Tier 3 Staff Schematic" perhaps with (Staff-sword) or some other explanatory text after the text that shows what type of schematic it is.

As for it being treated as a sword for rune purposes: I can accept that being intentional. I just wish it told us somewhere.

Edit:

And yes, it's a fun weapon!

Deanna: Thanks for letting me know a better place to post for mod requests. I appreciate it.

It's a joke. A blade that functions as a staff. A staff blade. Confused the hell out of me at first too. I do wish they'd buff its damage output though. Maybe give it a special property that has its normal attacks do triple damage (they can't buff the base damage too much or it would make your spells too strong).

That is not a bug that is an error in classification. If you use the schematic you immediately see you are making an entire staff and not a blade or grip. The staff works as described. A bug would be if the staff does not work as described.

Okay. I get it now, re the 'staff blade' thing and the rune type being a 'sword for a mage' rune type, rather than a 'staff that looks like a sword' rune type.

I've posted a request for a DPS mod to http://forums.nexusm...de-of-tidarion/ - and linked back to here.

I also put in the suggestion for optional changes to the rune type and the text. If the latter two would be trivial 'while I'm here anyway' changes, better to ask someone to do it while they are in the properties of that schematic, than for a modder to be asked to do them as a completely new mod. If they're going to be difficult, I appreciate anyone even just looking into it.

Thank you to everyone who responded. And I apologise for not recognising the humour in the 'staff blade' - I truly thought it was someone's mistake!
