"Elusive" stacks are OP as heck.

I mean seriously, does anybody else feel this way? I haven't really used it since Trespasser was released, but I'm now playing through the game again as a DD (though I was playing as bow before) artificer, solo, on nightmare, with all of the trials enabled, and I'm realizing that pretty much all I have to do right now to sweep every fight is make sure that I have 3 stacks of elusive from poison mist up before I enter it. And that's INCLUDING pretty much all of the boss fights so far (I don't imagine the rest would be any harder, either). At level 13. Level. 13.

I really can't wait until I get better gear so I can stop resorting to it. It just feels like cheating. lol

Oh, but I guess it could be useful for people who are still trying to get the "full nightmare play through" trophy/achievement/whatever. Just have a rogue cast elusive on your mages/rogues before you go into the fight, stack their damage output as much as you can, have your warrior(s) tank, and you'll probably destroy the game regardless of your skill level. :P

Sorry in advance for the stupid question- what's an "elusive" stack? How does a rogue cast "elusive" on a mage?

Yeah, it's ridiculous. I avoid using it, it's too cheesy for me. The stack is bugged too, it can hang around after combat ends.

He was simplifying. Rogue uses Toxic Cloud ability, party runs around in the cloud stacking Elusive, then they go find someone to beat on. Rogue doesn't literally cast anything on anyone, but effectively it's as if it were an AoE spell with a duration.

Elusive gives you 1 attack's worth of invulnerability. You take no damage from the enemy attack and one unit of Elusive is used up. You can have a stack of up to 3 units of Elusive. You can gain them back by hanging out in a Toxic Cloud.

Cast Toxic Cloud when your mage is standing close enough to your rogue that they'll be inside the cloud after using it, then wait there for a few seconds for the stacks of "elusive" to build up. You can lock them into position with "hold" if it helps.

Now is one of those moments I feel happy for never having picked up Toxic cloud, even if entirely by accident, on any of my playthroughs.

To be honest though, the whole rogue class is broken in this game.

While the Knight Enchanter got flak for being nearly unkilable, the rogue with a bow is pretty much a sniper with a .50 cal against medieval targets.

Seriously, you go stealth and snipe someone from nearly 1 km away for over 14k damage with long shot or even over 30k if you use Mark of Death or a drugged up Artificer.

Then you just hit Evade with Shadow Step or Leaping Shot with Shot from the Shadows upgrades and bam you are back into being untouchable.

And let's not even get started on the Amulet of Barrier where your crazy attack rate turns the Rogue into a pseudo Knight Enchanter.

That's why I changed over to DD. Artificer is a little OP in general, but at least this way big enemies are a challenge since they're harder to flank attack through. lol

Sometimes I wonder if the devs at Bioware follow a one track mentality when receiving feedback from the players.

I mean, in DAO the mages were all too broken because they could create a death field with numeorus AoE spells while 2H warriors were the joke class because they could not defend themselves properly.

Then, in DA2 the mages got nerfed to the point of being jokes because everyone had elemental resistances and very few spells actually dealt significant damage without TKing your entire party. Meanwhile the 2H warrior became a godlike bruiser who demolished crowds and bosses alike.

Comes DAI and both warriors and mages got somewhat balanced but rogues archers, by virtue of being squishy aggro generators in Kirkwall's narrow streets, got turned into one man artillery cannons who can slay dragons under 30 seconds.
