You sure you have it all?

Spoiler

Some of the DLC are now only available via the legacy BSN site.

I'm not sure this has been mentioned, but do not have DAO and DAU both installed.  You will have all kinds of issues.... they are not compatible.

Ultimate Edition includes Origins and all story-related DLCs (Awakening, Stone Prisoner, Witch Hunt, Golems of Amgarrak, Warden's Keep) plus Darkspawn Chronicles.  So if you already have Ultimate Edition, you don't need to have/buy a separate version of Origins.

I hope that answers your question, Apo?  I wasn't sure exactly what you were trying to ask.

Installing both leads to game confusion because the two different install routines put certain game files (the DLCs) in two different places on your computer.  (Also, the retail disc version places the main "root" game folder in a very different location than the EA/Origin version.)

Bottom line: installing both causes issues that can require a complete un-/re-install anyway, so do it right the first time!

(None of these problems corrupt your saved games though, so at least there's that...)

Well I have both versions and I installed the Ultimate edition only but in Origin both are installed, so if I unistall one both are uninstalled

I got DAO when it was given for free before the launch of Inquisition, and I bought UE recently so I don't know how to deal with it now

Uninstall both. Reinstall the UE only.

(If necessary, "Hide" the now absent original version in your EA/Origin "My Games" listing.)

You may be entitled to DAO in Origin (it shows in your library), but you don't have to download and install it on a machine with DAU already installed.
If you did, you really must uninstall both, and install only one...

just curious if anyone knows this, regarding unlocked specializations....

I played the game numerous times years ago, as DAO standalone, and unlocked everything.

I recently bought (a few months back) the UE (from Origin) and put it on a new computer, since i never played awakening and several other DLCs.

I now have decided to play again, the Origin story, since i enjoyed it so much, and never played as an Arcane Warrior...I cannot tell if AW is unlocked or not. Do those unlocks transfer from my Origin account?  Is there a way to tell? Looking at my Origin account now it shows all of my achievements from years back, but cannot tell about specializations.

thanks

For specializations, from Wiki:
"The game tracks this information [unlocked specializations] via the file profile.dap — the same file that tracks achievements, etc. — located in your user's "...Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Settings\" folder. Should you wish to preserve specialization unlocks through a (clean) re-installation OR should you wish have the option of reverting back to a "locked" state (e.g., if they become unlocked illegally/unintentionally via cheats, mods, or the like), backing up and restoring this file is an option."

So essentially if you copy over the whole dragon age folder "...Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\ then you should retain your specializations and achievements.

But I have to say sometimes the profile.dap becomes corrupt... and these settings are lost...

You can open the profile.dap file with ('Open With') Notepad, and (Ctrl-F) search for "arcane'. If the specialization is present you'll find it! But please deselect 'Always open with...'

DAO doesn't 'cloud' store saved games, so I believe that you have no option except to manually transfer the file yourself.

P.S. I understand why you would return to DAO: I recently completed another play myself! :)

Just to confirm...I got to level 7 today, and all specializations were unlocked, so looks like the cloud at least saves your accomplishments and unlocks, because I never played DAO on this computer before.

So I guess that the old BSN profiles are still active (at least to store some things)

I think that the cloud in Origin replaced the old BSN profiles because I never used BSN and my achievements were transfered to my new PC when I reinstalled the game a year ago
