Hey all, Just about to embark on Jacks loyalty quest but I have a bit of a problem.

My shiny guide beside me said that it is IMPOSSIBLE to have both miranda and Jack happy with you after you come back from Jack's loyalty quest. Can someone please tell me if this is the case and I should get on with it, or if perhaps I should come back closer to end game when I have full paragon?

Or is this woman just uninformed and her guide faulty.

Merci

That's funny, my shiny guide says its impossible *unless* you have a very high rank in either Paragon or Renegade to persuade them....

Guide faulty, you are more than capable of persuading them both to stand down. It isn't even hard, it's like 40% paragon or renegade. Which means 20% or so and then max your class skill line. You should have that much right out of Omega.

Yup, the guide is faulty. I got the heads up from Kelly that Miranda and Jack were having problems. Walked in, saw a chair flying and one paragon choice later they're in the spots they should be and still loyal.

It's more that 40% because I was over 50% paragon and could not get them both to stand down..

On page 169 of the CE Strategy guide it says "If your Paragon or Renegade score is high enough, you can resolve this situation without alienating either crew member. However, if you do not have the left dialog (her spelling not mine) options you must make a tough choice right now..."

Then there is a note at the bottom that says "unless you can max out your Paragon or Renegade score before your final mission you cannot gain the loyality of both these crew members. If you manage to get a high enough morality score on either end of the pendulum, you can make up with your offended crew member."

Does your guide say something different?

My question is whether or not that it is infact correct. Others seem to believe everyone can be happy with a paragon solution even if my skill is only 60% or so. There is some confusion.

I managed to resolve the issue with a high (but not maxed) renegade stat.

I think the bar was probably 60-70% full or so from memory.

P.S - I am surprised you are using your guide on the first run through (if it is your first run) surely half the thrill of the game is making these decisions for yourself and suffering the consequences..?

with my femshep, i had about 70% paragon and i couldnt get them to stand down. so i sided with miranda. even with maxed out paragon, i couldnt make up with Jack later, the "lip service" option remains greyed out.

with my male shepard i manage to persuade with less points

Remember to fill your class skill bar first, the paragon/renegade boost it provides is significant. Also the inferno armor and I think one other thing can give you a 10% negotiation bonus you can use for those choices.

I'm an infiltrator, and the class bonus was either +70% paragon/renegade or +100%. I chose the +100% one first, and my paragon got boosted to about 85% full (even though +100% of the paragon points I already had should have maxed me out). I reloaded and chose the one that had +70% because it was more useful to me in terms of how I play the game, but it didn't boost my paragon/renegade at all. Annoying. Now I'm hoping I'll be able to max out my paragon before any of my squadmates start fighting. Or I'm hoping I'll have my paragon high enough that I'll be able to regain their loyalty by talking with them, if you can actually do that. Otherwise I'll be pissed. :'(

So we still haven't reached a verdict on this? Some say the only way to make them both happy is to be maxed, others say it's not required.

My bar is over 80% full Paragon, and I still can't get both of them loyal! What the heck is going on??

I think you'll have much easier time doing it as a Renegade. Worked for me with about 75% where as like 90 % Paragon didn't work

Yeah, had about 90 % paragon and couldn't make them stand down. Anyone know about how much I need to make Miranda trust me again?

Good God, this has been answered SO MANY TIMES.  Granted there is a lamentable absence of stickies or a decent search function... but you can find the answer with Google.

Anyway, the answer is that (like all conversation checks) this one gets harder depending on how late in the game you encounter it.  The way to resolve the Jack/Miranda fight easily, especially in an ME1 import game, is to do both of their loyalty missions as early as possible.  If you wait until later on, it can be difficult or even potentially impossible.

The other tip is to respec your class skill to the one that gives a 100% Paragon/Renegade bonus, if you haven't already.  This may make it possible to succeed if you were already close to the threshold.

Another data point to consider is that the Jack/Miranda fight is easier to resolve as Renegade, while the Tali/Legion fight is easier as Paragon.

STICKY PLEASE.  DO IT FOR THE KITTENS.

I sided with Jack and lost Miranda's loyalty with my Paragon ME1 Shepard. From reading here, it seems that I *might* be able to get back in her good graces later when my paragon score is higher. My question is does it really matter if Miranda is miffed? She didn't lose the loyalty ability....

thanks stillnotking, that tip about getting it as early as possible most likely is what made me fail in my last run.. I waited untill the last possible moment because I wanted to have paragon maxed as much as possible, I had about 85% , and the lefthand answers STILL were greyed out.. major bummer, because Miranda's leadership qualitys (team bonusses) are so darn handy.. shame I couldn't trust her with anything important after that..

the trick is completing both of their missions early in the game awhile focusing on either paragon or regenade.

I never had a problem with this. Maybe I just stumbled onto the answer completely by accident. I did Jacks loyalty mission just before I did the IFF mission getting Legion. By this point My paragon was maxed, so I had no problem with either Jack/Miranda or Legion/Tali. More to the point, I got every squad member(pre-IFF), then did all of their loyalties(pre-IFF), leaving Jack until last. Then I went and got the IFF and Legion, then did his loyalty. No problems at all.
