If you only have Inquisition then you can skip using it on your first playthrough. And you probably should, the basic world state has been created with a newcomer in mind. It's mostly a glorified checklist of the actions you made in the two games before and it gives is a few nods to the older games, so much of it wont make that much sense to you or matter that much.

If it is your second or third playthrough then there are some tiles that can change up your playthrough, but I would go with the default state for the first run and skip the headache and nose bleeding.

I echo what Krypplingz said. If you're new to the series, just don't bother with the Tapestry.

In essence, it's just a checklist of choices from the first two games that MAY have an impact on Dragon Age: Inquisition. (ie. How did you pay for ice cream? Money/Sexual Favours/I don't like ice cream) But since you're new, you don't care about any of that stuff anyway.

You basically create a worldstate (think of it like a save you'd have imported if you had played the previous games) that carries over the choices you made in the previous two games over to Inquisition. You don't need to tamper with it and just go with the default for your first playthrough. You can play around with it to see what changes in your future playthroughs after your first one.

Actually, if you want to use it and really want to play a world-state you like, you can use it during your first playthrough, if you're willing to dive through dragonage.wikia.com as well as reading this guide: http://www.pcgamer.c...p-guide/#page-1 it further details what each choice is about.

But if you're not in for a lot of reading and decision making then you're better off, as everyone else said, skipping it.

It sets choices from prior games that might influence the state of the world during Inquisition. It causes slight differences in the dialogues of characters you interact with. The only major choices are these:

What race, sex, and class the Warden had.

If Alistair remained a Warden or was King in Origins.

If Loghain lived.

If Leliana had a romance with the Warden or not, and if she was killed or not recruited.

What sex, class, and attitude Hawke had.

What side Hawke took in the Mage/Templar conflict.

If Morrigan had a child with the Warden or not.

If the Warden completed the Dark Ritual with Morrigan or not.
