Imagine mission(loyalty one) in where you go to help one of your companions out.

However during their mission there is that final choice that must be made that will define this entire mission and even your companion and you as leader in group as per usual tell them what to do, which choice to make, you even use your max persuasive skill(whatever that might be in ME:A) to convince them, there is no way anyone refuses you but.......instead your companion just says "I don't make decisions for you, neither you will for me. I'm doing my mission my own way." and then they simply make they own choice regarding of what you wanted them to.

THE END

And yet Ciri makes her own choice about her own life regardless of what Geralt wants to.

People already demand how the game should be and literally tell the writers how to do their job.  It's not that far off the mark tbh.

Can we arrest them for insubordination since they are disobeying the orders of a superior officer and/or results in them committing a crime?

Companions having their own free will is certainly a good thing, although I can see that rubbing people expecting another space jesus the wrong way,

Pretty much.

Geralt's decisions do affect her enough that in end she makes choice for herself without Geralt deciding it for her. That is what would be nice in here. Your choices will affect your companion so in end they make their own choice and chose who they want to be themselves

Oh please FFS, please add this.

The amount of times weak minded characters compelled me to choose for them in the ME series was staggering. The 3rd was the worst in this aspect.

One of the most awesome character moments in the entire franchise was during Grunt's loyalty mission when he tells Shepard to ****** off when the Commander tries to veto Grunt joining the rival clan. Something along the lines of, "Shepard this was never your choice and you have no business telling me what to do in this situation". Raised my respect for the little Krogan by miles.

The companion quests often aren't exactly official missions. I'm not sure you can court martial someone for a renegade op to buy their sister a birthday present.

Demanding? Ehm...who is demanding what in here?

I'm just suggesting, nothing more. Besides be a bit happier that this isn't another troll or "Who can I bang" thread lol

If they fall under the terms of insubordination, you can. Stopping someone from getting their family member a birthday present doesn't, but ordering someone to hold their fire but they fire anyway does.

I will say that Shepard telling the squadmates exactly what to do in their loyalty missions in ME2 was really poor game design. It completely threw away a dozen opportunities to further define those characters. What were supposed to character-defining moments became mere opportunities to fill your red bar or your blue bar a little more.

Yeah I was saying in general.  That wasn't targeted at you or anything.

I like good troll threads.  If you can make me laugh I like you. We need a good balance though.  I like your suggestion and when more game info comes out I think the forum with improve drastically.....for about 2 days until its been beat into the ground. Rinse and repeat!

Aka Dragon Age 2. Merrill will mysteriously have the shard even when you don't give it to her or Anders will blow up the Chantry regardless of whether you help him gathering items or not.

We also need more sub-forums, because all of the threads are kinda scattered apart too much.

Speculation, suggestion and off-topic sub-forums need to brought in here because we have little to almost no info about game so there isn't anything to discuss for reals yet. All of the threads in here are pretty much speculate this and that, suggest this and that and just threads that have nothing to do with game.

No I want a universe with moar mindless drones who will leave the fate of their lives and even that of entire species in the hands of some random grunt with no college education who thought asari needed extraterrestrial species to reproduce. Bonus points if they'd rather suicide by cop/cliff/ space ninja/gun/ unnecessarily villanous monologue rather than defy my psychopathically stupid whims in the manner that a rational actor should.

Even if we don't give Merrill the arulin'holm, she is still able to work on the mirror, as all we did was delay her by not giving her the proper tools. This is why she still eventually needs the help from the demon in the third act of the game, because she'd fixed the mirror enough that it should have been working, but wasn't.

With Anders, he just needed us to watch his back while he went into the sewers to get the ingredients, as well as provide a distraction while he later planted the bomb, something he could have done on his own, albeit with more difficulty.

Ofc they can but then I want the option to kick them out of my squad. I won't tolerate rebels under my command. I kicked Sera out of my squad every single time because of that reason.

No objection, as long as I can respond by kicking them off the squad or killing them.

They're welcome to be their own person.  So am I.

I agree with your point but the player base would freak out over the loss of agency. Players want to be the Padishah emperor of their little universe the idea that they can't control their companions is heresy for some. Hence the who post about court martialing them.
