(Starting this off by saying that the last thing Harry Potter that I've been exposed to was the second movie so just went ahead and did a hand full of quizzes mostly blind cause it looked fun and I want to fit in with the cool kids)

House: Slytherin (I'm pretty much a **** so I guess that makes sense from what I remember how that house was in the movies I did see)

Wand: Unicorn hair, maybe oak, rigid/sturdy

Patronus: Snow Leopard (Don't really buy the quiz on that one, though it did have somewhat of a point of not being notice until striking)

Potion: Smoke, a natural fire on a cold day, smoldering logs.

Slytherin comes off as the house of pr*cks and stupid bullies in the books and movies, but the the sorting quiz puts anyone who likes reptiles and moonlight into that house. I could turn it on its head and see Gryffindor as the house of sanctimonious white knights. And I could say that it takes a thief to catch a thief.

Brings me back around to what I don't like about the series: Snape aside, it's Gryffindor=Good, Slytherin=Bad, and the others are just inconsequential.

On a lighter note, I've read the sentiment that anyone sorted into Slytherin should be made Tranquil, so I know I'm in the right house

I took the quiz. I was expecting Ravenclaw but got Gryffindor. Ah well.

My wand is Chestnut wood with a dragon heartstring core, 12". Unyielding flexibility.

Patronus, I'd like to think a cougar.

Potion: Pine trees.

I've read most of the books and seen the movies, but didn't feel confident enough to answer any of those questions without taking a test first. I took the Pottermore quiz and... Slytherin?! Seriously? That... was not my first guess. Maybe my last.

For my wand, I got Cypress wood with a unicorn hair core, 10 1/2" and slightly springy flexibility. I got the 'unafraid to confront the shadows' wood and the 'generally the most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts' hair. I think this is what the wizarding world calls playing chicken with the train.

Now that the professionals have answered those questions, I'd say my patronus is a turkey vulture (they like dead things and their first line of self-defense is to vomit on their enemies).

To me, an amortensia potion would smell like a musty old house, thick woolen blankets, and the first snow of winter.

For those who might be interested, Rowling has just released a really interesting story that explains the origins of Ilvermorny, the great magical school in the U.S.  There's also a Pottermore sorting quiz for the four Ilvermorny houses.  Now I'm curious to see if there are any other fellow Pukwudgies in our group.  Pukwudgie represents the "heart" of a wizard and tends to favor healers.  I like it!

Oh yeah! Off to read and take the test.

Thunderbird! Ravenclaw and Thunderbird. I guess I'm bound to end up as something with wings. LOL Flashback to elementary school where my school's mascot was a thunderbird.
