Differences between DAI vanilla game and Ultimate Edition?

I first played the basic DAI for PS4 at the beginning of last year.  It was my first introduction to the world of Dragon Age.  I then got Origins Ultimate Edition and then DA2 -- both for PC.  I'm now playing DAI Ultimate Edition for PC and am now noticing differences with the vanilla game, which makes me wonder about the degree Bioware revised the game for Ultimate Edition.  I've just finished "In Hush Whispers."  After defeating Alexius, Alistair and Anora return for brief cameos.  In the vanilla game I played last year, they actually look like the characters I saw in Origins.  In Ultimate Edition, it looks like an effort was made to make them look older and "less cartoonish."

Also, this time around because I previously played DAO and DA2, I assume a number of other cameos are to be expected.  I know Hawke is coming from my PS4 playthroughs.  So far, I've run into Connor in Redcliffe who I was able to talk to prior to the initial meeting with Alexius.  During "Hushed Whispers," I hear him being killed but don't actually see what happened.  Was this actually shown or was my party simply pointed in the wrong direction?

Is there a list anywhere of  other cameos by characters from the previous games and where I should see them?

Also during "Hushed Whispers," I noticed a weird glitch.  In the room where the Venatori torture a Chantry sister to death, you never arrive in time to save the sister.  However, during my epic fight with one of the mages (I had the "Trials" setting to allow enemies to level up) the dead Chantry Sister kept standing up as if she were okay.  Just curious if this had happened to anyone else.

Other Ultimate Edition comments:  I like having access to new armors, however, they seem for the most part underwhelming and weak when you get them.  The "antaam-saar" qunari schematic looked like it would be good for my female mage inquisitor.  But though it can reach a decent armor level, you don't get anything beyond the basic attributes of "cunning" or "dexterity" based on the materials chosen.  No special resistances, etc.  The Qunari armor I thought would work well with Iron Bull only seems to make him die more quickly.

The Sigils -- which weren't available in the vanilla game -- are interesting but frustrating.  I'm finding it hard to figure out whether the trade-offs between characteristics is worth it.

Could it be that the quality of the faces is better because you're playing on PC now?

The Spoils armors are only there for looks. The best crafted armors are always going to be the Superior or Refined Battle-armors because they can be upgraded. The looted armors from The Decent are the only things that can compare because of the inflated stat boosts they give.

However, the Spoils schematics generally reach you earlier than you'll find equivalent or better schematics in the game world. Assuming you're not using the Golden Nug, of course..

Ha, I'm always the opposite. PC is always way worst for me.

Granted, I use a laptop, and even this one is two or three years old now, but still. I barely manage XCOM or KOTOR on the lowest settings.

The special edition for DAI is called the Game of the Year Edition, not "ultimate."

For none of the games -- DAO, DA2, DAI -- did they do any "revising" for the various special editions. ALL of the special editions, for all of the games, contain bonus items and DLC that was released after the main game in a singular, discounted package. That is the point of them; to get players to buy and play the game, including all DLC and bonus items, by bribing them with stuff (and for convenience).

The DAI DLC, particularly the Trespasser DLC, added significant changes to the game, like Trials and the new ability upgrade toggles, that are only available with the Trespasser DLC. Because the GotY edition has the Trespasser DLC, you get these changes.

There were no graphics updates. You are noticing this change because you moved from console to PC.

As for the bonus items -- weapons, armors -- the ones you get at the start of the game in the Haven chest are primarily cosmetic, as you quickly acquire better items via looting or crafting. You get schematics to craft upgraded ones once you arrive at Skyhold. But these items were never meant to be some of the best loot available; even the T3 crafted dragon sword is less-than-stellar.
