06666 melee venom build for me, though I could see myself trying a 66606 or 66660 build, I skipped nades once but it seemed lackluster.

I like the GT Hybrid build over the N7 Destroyer, faster w/ free wall hax, & a dodge.

Anything lesser than Phantoms is just going to die in the hailstorm of bullets that is the Brophoon.

That was... Poetic!

Play the Quarian Marksman instead. Moar dakka. Moar accuracy. Moar speed. Moar dodge. Moar headshots. Moar wallhax. Moar quarian. Moar bumbum. Moar better.

Sorry, my friend. I can go along and even agree with the others...

But ain't nobody got moar dakka than the destroyer ;)

I either drop the Missile Launcher or the Grenades, but I'm sticking with a non-grenade build since I respecced him for a plat match a felt decade ago and didn't want to compete with Drell for boxes. I don't really miss them - nowadays the only respeccing occurs for either having mag size or RoF.

Spitfire Trooper is loads of fun, but prolonged exposure to Hunter Mode makes me queasy

I spec out of grenades, and max the rest. I mostly use fully automatic weapons (Revenant being my preferred choice on him) and prefer a power that doesn't break gunfire (HML). This was very useful when I used typhoon because of its ramp-up.

If I were to use a shotgun, I'd probably spec into both HML and MFG. 4/4 or 5/3 split between HML and fitness is what I'd do.

This is the build I'm currently using:

http://kalence.drupa...13N51314!G8.AGO

Of note, 4A on Hydra Missile means you only lose 100 shields, very important for any HM build

For Platinum you can replace the Typhoon with a high level PPR and AP ammo. On PS3 in particular, this far FAR more effective than using it with incendiary ammo. PPR X & AP IV Destroyer crushes Platinum bosses at a level few other kits compete with, it's kind of unholy.

I would also add, this is a kit with many different powerful specs: the argument could be made that skipping DM and using a Venom is the most powerful build.

^ Yes, so powerful I bet it would stagger screen shake the PS3 into memory leak. On Hazard Giant it would make everyone's PS3 explode.

Used to run him with HML in the past, it's a good power but it's just a bit boring, you don't really do anything with it as a player.

Since some time back I skip it and go with max points in nades instead, they are quite good.

PPR is good on him, but then again it's good on a lot of kits so when I do play him I prefer the Typhoon as that gun is more limited to fewer kits.

On my main a/c I've settled on the no-HML Typhoon build as being optimal, but on my low level a/c with no Grenade Gear I'm running a 66545 build with a 2-shot Executioner Pistol, which, combined with the triple-HML and emergency grenades is fairly hilarious and pretty indestructible.  You have to at least try the 2-shot Executioner option at some stage because of its uniqueness.

You don't need cluster grenades.  Are they good? Yes.  Hawk Missle Launcher is a guaranteed stagger though.  Most of the time the enemy is dead before they recover because he is such a beast.  The Lancer is my favorite gun and its pretty much all I use unless I wanna go easy mode with PPR or something.  I like NEVER having to worry about ammo boxes.

If you put some ammo on you will melt anything.

I'm not a fan of the Hawk Missile Launcher, mostly because the force of them isn't high enough to stagger Phantoms on Gold/Plat and I can keep them dancing for me without it.

Anything lesser than Phantoms is just going to die in the hailstorm of bullets that is the Brophoon.

Still makes them flip and stand there getting shot in the face.  They are usually dead before they recover.  (For those of us that aren't dance coaches :P

Well you also solo a lot, so it makesmore sense to choose nades over HML. For me the point of solos would be to see how fast you can beat it with a most optimized build. While when I pug, I tend to prefer to cut down on Rambo Lone Wolf cheese factor and match my dps closer to pugs (since I prefer to pug Gold).

Another vote for speccing out of HML. I just wind up turning it off and on like an idiot all match and the animation gets in the way of my shooting things with the Brophoon.

But seriously, thanks for all the suggestions. I'll give a try to some of them during the weekend, when I'm back home.

Sometimes I go to play the Destroyer, click on the soldier class and mouse over towards where he is... and somehow I always end up picking the Turian instead

Huh

for when I do feel like it

That build is partly me being cheeky and getting kicked from lobbies (or getting cussed out on the mic in-game once for NOT missile glitching as far as I could gather), but it's actually fun for me compared to the more min-max ways of playing this kit and decent on gold. I only save the frags for emergencies and don't spam them, most of the build relies on the Striker.

No. You see Ivan, is simple math.

Shoot 50% moar bulets > shoot 25% moar bulets

Sure, N7 Schwarzenegger gets more ammo, but using Typhoon Quarksman if you haven't killed the entire spawn with a single mag and an entire wave with the reserve, you've done something very wrong.

Except dm doesn't have a cool down and destroyer gets more damage bonuses than quarian marksman doesn't he?

Change AM to CM if you worry about shield.

You don't need accuracy or RoF when you burn everything to hell with that green beam of death. Scorpion is for extra stagger. If feeling boring, take an executioner and bang-bang your enemies.

That makes gold a lot more fun I agree (never understood why so many people insist on bringing Harrier, BW and Reegar X to Gold with lvl IV equipment), if it's more of a challenge it's more fun. I don't pug platinum so much these days but when I do I prefer to use more effective set-ups, since I don't have the patience or skill to clutch Geth/Condor with a low level character using a gun like the Locust should it be needed (and I'd probably be kicked from the lobby anyway with a set-up like that).

This build is my favorite on him. I don't like DM on him, anymore, and ever since I stopped speccing him with it he has gotten much funner and more reliable for me.

I always ran 60666, but boring.  Tried your 06666 and it's GREAT. HML is just plain fun, and not at all useless. And I like the extra speed and dodge. Plus, display with geth scanner is much better than DM.  Thanks for that. I'm keeping him.
