I still like Ashley for some reason.. but I feel like I blew my chance with Miranda by denying her. Like I was asking earlier, will I get another shot with her later in the game?

Wow... you know what? I completely forgot about the impact of being "unfaithful" (by "" I mean... come on, you died... ) Puts a new twist for playthrough 2 v14 (yup, I redid my New Game + character that many times...)

Yeah, I wasn't really interested in continuing to pursue any kind of relationship with Ash after the scene on the colony, some apology email doesn't change the fact that she had no faith or trust in you when you try to convince her of what you're doing, which are kind of the building blocks of the serious kind of relationship that you're expected to stay faithful to over long distances for long periods of time.  Pretty much kills any desire for a relationship on my part, and like I said I liked the ME2 characters better than the ME1 ones anyways.

Where are people getting the info referred to on this thread about ME3 implications of 'cheating'?  Dev posts somewhere?

I'm picking Miranda. I'm just confused a bit as to why my import has Ash as my li as I didn't talk to her much if at all during the game and I rejected her before going to Ilos. So basically my Shepard doesn't have much ties to her so I'm going for Miranda. Though on other playthroughs I'll try the others.

You know the scene with Ashley really took me by surprise. I had intended to do my first and primary play through staying faithful to Ash, but after the confrontation on the colony I started leaning heavily towards moving forward with someone else.

Then I got the email from her and now I can't decide how to proceed.

Kudos to Bioware for making this a hard choice! I honestly didn't think it would be.

That being said I'll probably cheat. She really rubbed me the wrong way on that planet and the poetry thing is getting annoying. Also the characters in ME2 are a lot more interesting then Ash and Liara.

Neither, both characters are boring.

Tali, Jack, Liara > Miranda or Ashley - and who's to say who will be in ME3?

Conflicted over this. I like Ashley and was planning on sticking with her, no matter how good Miranda looked. But Miranda's a pretty interesting character, too, This is really funny, I have to admit I haven't gotten that far with Miranda yet, but something like turning down Ashley's photo on my desk would make me reconsider, too lol. (And Miranda's whole fanatically-loyal-to-organization-i-still-consider-evil is still offputting.) And Slam is dead sexy. Doesn't help that the email is all we get of Ashley...oh, for the transparency of DAO relationships...

I'm assuming in ME3 we get another class swap, so it's easy to do multiple playthroughs from the same ME1 decisions. Make which is Shepherd is with who easy to remember, and let's me start my ME3 adept with Ashley even my ME2 adept is with someone else. But with both, which is my personal canon?

It's also entirely possible that they'll be sidelined for ME3 by Newer Sexier ME3 Girl. I am personally hoping for the Mother of All Dramatic confrontations, Given the huge number of possible confrontations, though, that's probably unfeasible.

I agree.  At first was really worried like a lot of other people.  I was worried they were going to completely sideline our love interests from ME1 in favor of the NEWER!  SHINIER! ones of ME2.  I was ready to be angry with Bioware and yell "WHERE IS MY ASHLEY!?"  But I actually really like what they did.  And now I can't imagine any of the love stories being nearly as interesting as the conclusion to my Ash and Shepard one (assuming this gets its due in ME3.  IT BETTER!)

For those of you real worried, Bioware is not a company to force something as momentous as keeping your ME 1 romance and then killing it just because you strayed in ME 2. I imagine there will be some rough words, but if you're slick you can get your ME 1 romance back...or stick with whomever you chose now.

This is what I imagine tbh.

Still hedging with more then one saved game, though. (And to think, I only bothered with two ME1 playthroughs...prolly gonna end up with at least 3-4 ME2 ones. Including at least one where I pretty much see what it takes to get Shepherd killed.)
