I just build my first Keeper/Bloodmage/Battlemage using Velanna and a Manual of Focus, but I don't know what tactics use for her. Since she is a Bloodmage, I should do the < 50% health turn off BM and then turn bloodmage back on >50% health. Beyond that, I do not have a clue

That's really all you need. Tactics in Awakening are unnecessary, given how strong your characters are.
