Ain't going to happen. Not because of any story issue, those could be bypassed simply without any real affect on the story. Its not going to happen as long as ML has any say in the matter.
3 other lead designers made DAO what it was, Brent Knowles being the most prominent. ML was only lead designer on DAO for 6 months... the game was completed for PC and he oversaw the porting to the consoles.
The HOF is not his character. He was the lead from beginning to end on DA2, and we all saw how that turned out.
As limited as it was, he had no trouble bringing back Hawke for DAI... the excuse for the HOF was they didn't think they could do him/her justice... but of course Hawke was in it... and physically customizable too. Go figure.
Bullshit. Bullshit. Bullshit.
They had a game engine that allowed the PC to create a male/female Human, Elf, Dwarf... enough said. They could have easily allowed the PC to create the HOF... the only thing comes down to is the want to do that... they didn't and apparently much of this lameness was predicated on... *gasp* the VOICE, which is another...
Bullshit. Bullshit. Bullshit.
Most fans who wanted to see the HOF again would have accepted Pee Wee Herman's voice... they, or should I say, ML, just will not allow it to happen. If seeing the HOF had been the HIGHLIGHT of DAI, everything ML supposedly brings to the table (very little IMHO) would be for naught.
Its a simple matter that ML has nothing to gain and everything to lose by re-introducing the HOF. So we get Bullshit excuses, this, bullshit excuses that...
But hey, make Hawke look just like you want to!
Its not going to happen... not because its a story issue, but because its a lame*ass ML issue. Seriously, it would be cool if he could grow a pair. Or move on to another project.
And you said it better than I could. I want my HoF back, anybody got a problem with that tough! I even preferred he/she was mute that way they had my voice in my head as I played much more immersive if you ask me. I hated Hawke, i really hated not being able to choose my own race. But I'm one of the gamers who like flawed protagonists having a one armed, mute, deaf or blind character! now thats interesting to me. But sadly they (Devs) won't because of a Very vocal few nay sayers. It should be an OPTION for those who want their HoF back and a NEW character for those who don't !.

oly heck did I just travel back in time or something I could of sworn I saw this thread before o.O
Bioware you fans invented time travel you should be so proud
anyway I would love my HOF back but as a cameo bioware have said no because blah blah it adds to much work for us boo
but really all you need to bring back the hof is the li background and who is in charge of ferleden and who killed the arc demon that's it really then they can give us a hawke like cameo and if they are worried about the combat just have the hof fight in the background helping the army

Oh finally a supporter, there are players who want the HoF back after all this time so clearly the protagonist was interesting a perfect tool to fill with your own thoughts, unlike the Inquisitor with that diplomatic boring demeanor static like a stone.

If the franchise was at least as good as the crappy Final Fantasy VI remake on steam, I would love to see the Warden back, but since it is completely awful it is better if we never see the HoF again.

B-W could bring back the HoF at great risk since many would be customers seems to be against the idea since they elected to kill their warden and Leliana.
I would welcome the idea as a DLC for those of us that would like to see what happen to the warden after the blight, the mess at Vigil's Keep and Leliana's return to the chantry. I never bought into the idea he/she's wondering around looking for a cure for the calling-weak at best.
The wardens go missing and instead of sending for the HoF she has the Inquisitor to hunt down a unknown warden. In real life I'm sure she would send for the one she loves and knows best. Even Hollywood gets that right in some of its movies.

I don't understand troll what?
We saw three characters that did not die despite being labelled as dead.
So what's the problem with the HoF?
they have just to expand the lore and find a way to explain what happen during the soul fusion with the archdemon, that's it.
Ferelden burns their dead, that's not it. Leliana didn't get a funeral, assuming a PC that was too weak to get her in line and was therefore forced to kill her. Neither did Oghren. But the Warden did get a funeral. Of all the possible variations of ending, it was, to me, the most satisfying memory from the entire game, so please stop trying to rain on my parade, I'm not starting "Please Kill the Warden" Thursday to rain on your inability to let go.

robertthebard,I must be doing something very, very wrong.. I never found the need to kill Leliana,Oghren doesn't die and I refuse to sacrifice my warden because dying for nothing means shite..
Maybe a DLC featuring the warden wouldn't be such a bad idea after all.

You mean the most boring character in the series?
No thanks, Bioware would never be able to satisfy a majority of players, let the HoF stay irrelevant as s/he has been since DA2.

Why use logic and reasoning when you can just blame a random developer! I see a conspiracy theorist in his early stages.

Arshei,I use my PS3 or Xbox 360 and still can't manage to hit the same Elf design every game.. I suspect with mods it may be impossible.
My Dwarf commoner is usually spot on every game since I do very little to change the default. Hair style is usually a sort light red pageboy and good to go.

Remember, your Warden doesn't know that the DR is going to turn out to be safe and trivial.

AlanC9,He/she also knows dying for nothing means shite and therefore won't throw their life away needlessly nor will I permit my wardens to do so.
All those past dead wardens didn't stop the coming blight that Flemeth warned King Meric about in "The Stolen Throne".

Bring back HoF thread #3215
They won't bring him/her back , they couldn't even do justice to Hawke that was much less customizable and had only 3 possible personalities let alone HoF that was entirely shaped in terms of personality by player.

Who says your Warden's dying for nothing? If she thinks that the DR is horribly dangerous, thinks Anora's an unacceptable queen, and only has the option to sacrifice herself or Alistair... what's left but taking one for the team?

I've never had to kill them either. I thought I was doing something right. However, dying to keep a Witch of the Wilds from getting a OG soul meant a lot to me, and frankly, even seeing how it's handled now, it still does. I didn't trust her then, and I don't trust her now. Despite the fact that I absolutely love her as a character. So to me, sleeping with, or having Loghain sleep with her wasn't an option, and Alistair was either gone, or dead, see "having Loghain sleep with her".
Perspective is everything, and from where I'm sitting, the US is the most satisfying ending possible. It's just too bad that there wasn't one for Hawke and the Inquisitor.

You wouldn't even be able to recreate her if you didn't use mods since the old (better) hairstyles are no longer available(except the one granny looking one with the too-short bangs), neither are the old tattoos and of course she couldn't be a shapeshifter, blood mage, arcane warrior, healer, etc...anymore either.

Alan C9.. I learned years ago dying for nothing means shite.. None of my Wardens see any need for wasting their lives when there is a way out. Of course I never was one to talk the talk and not walk the walk..
As far as taking one for the team that bullshit talk you don't help your team by dying. Alistair is the rightful heir to the throne and shouldn't even be in the battle against the AD since there is much to do after the blight that's why in my games he and Anora marries. Camine has no desire to be queen because she knows Ferelden would never allow a Elf to be queen and she's tired of Alistair, Ferelden politics and the GWs.
