1.the if>then Tactics system from DAO and DA2 back. Bring back the ability to use ALL your learned abilities in combat, the ability to switch weapons in combat. All areas monsters shoudl just scale up with the Character if you're trying to avoid Linear Story. I think it's weird they removed blood magic, but I guess it would hav ebeen too much for the Herald of Andraste to do it, and Viv and Dorian woulnd't touch that magic with a 10 foot pole. So it got cut. HA AN ACCIDENTAL PUN. I don't even like bloog magic but it seemed weird that is was such a hot topic and no one could use it except NPCs for bad uses. We're going to Tevinter. Blood magic needs to come back.
2. Keep Qunari, Dwarf, Elf, and Human races, don't downsize PC race options. I severely missed the lack of City Elf option; I don't worship the snow flake Dalish and don't want to be forced to be one just so I can have pointy ears and issues with other races. And why can't we have a Qun following Qunari like Sten? or a true Tal Vashoth, not a Qunari who was never raised under the Qun? Or a duster turned surfacer, not just surface dwarves?
3. Keep the big areas, just have fewer of them. Keep in mind we are not the Thedas postal service delivering letters from dead people to other dead people; give us an NPC to talk to about these fetch quests at least. DAI got too ambitious with multiple empty land masses but then the castle didn't g et finished and the final battle wasn't held at Skyhold. Boo.
4. I think flavored dialogue should be a part of nearly every exchange. I miss being sarcastic 100% at every opportunity... Nevertheless, if our character is painfully sarcastic it should get to come out more often than just moments the writers have deemed as emotional to warrant flavor speech. Although, I've come to notice that flavor speech is hidden vy it being in the same order as DA2 anyway, but you may as well put that icon there. Also, I want my PC to talk more when I pick something. Three words suck and make me feel like you didn't actually want the PC to express an opinion at that moment but threw it in so it didn't feel like the group was just ignoring the Quiz.
5. I think we have a pretty good take on Orlesian and Fereldan human society. I think we should explore other races' society more and if it requires Origins style prologues, you won't hear me complain.
6. I think race gating romances is realistic but, at the same time... I don't like it. I just plain don't like it. Maybe it was okay for the 1000 year old elf but it's not okay for anyone else.
7. Why do we get to name equipment, but not our horse; more importantly, being able the name a save file should be a basic requirement.
8. "Companions need to be able to push me up rocks"- I second this, because it seriously was impossible to get those shards otherwise. Why not? Companions know how you need magic to light the veil fire. I think it's pretty stupid, however, to make walls only smashable by warriors. If Cassandra can do it, my human rogue can do it.
9. I liked DA2's method of resource gathering; find it once, and head cannon that you're having servants get it, or even that access to the resources gets a free delivery from the merchant you educated about the location. Why am I mining and herb picking constantly as I travel across bear infested forests? This kind of realism is just unnecessary. Also, I want to know what an armor will look like before I buy the schematic. And speaking of picking up random things, AOE looting.
10. Give me a bad guy I can hate with every fiber of my being. Corypheus plunged into stupid post Haven. And we already know Solas will be the next Villain, but half your players want to save him. (possibly me included.) Loghain, Branka, Meredith, Seeker Lucious. I've even read an amazing argument that the Fear Demon in the Fade should have been the real villain of DAI.
11. Better hair, makeup should be available for both genders, height weight sliders, and mages should NOT always wear robes, especially if you're an apostate in Kirkwall. Speaking of outfits, why the heck does only Viviene get to be pretty in every armor option but my gal doesn't? If there is a ball, and I'm female, a dress should be an option.
12. I will never care about liquor bottles and it irritates me no end that I can't choose to not go looking for them.
13. Thank you for making Marriage an option; It obviously can only work in games with time jumps, but guess what? DAO and DA2 had that as well, so I'm glad we finally got two in game marriage scenes.
14. More companion-related quests to replace all the sidequests that were just filling; Like Varric's request to blow up red lyrium is a perfect example of a side quest that had background story aplenty to make us care.
15. Don't have my rogue stabbing air. I don't know what happened between DAO/DA2 and DAI, but I feel like my PC used to be better at following people for attacks.
16. Please please please please let Leliana remain in the background, never to get more than one scene to catch up on her story. I have never disliked a recurring character so much; she is not Varric!
17. Return of the characters hitting on you. It can be classy, not classy, but at least one moment where they seem to appreciate you for something more than just friendship/work relationship. So it doesn't feel like we are really pouring the flirtation on so much without them obviously reciprocating. I remember being so darn touched when Alistair gave me a flower and I realized that dating companions was a thing. And gifts; I liked giving gifts! It doesn't even have to mean approval mining, it could just be a way to get to know your companions more. Morrigan and the Mirror? Amazing. Story heavy romances; Morrigan and Alistair, Anders, Solas. If you notice, it went from two in DAO to just one in the next two games. Additionally, I find it more realistic that morally gray characters would be okay with some side action, NSA sex, but everyone but Iron Bull wanted to have a full blown relationship discussion before you could hit the sheets. I -DONT want Geralt of Rivia sex collector cards.-- Zevran, and I hear Morrigan, seemed okay with NSA in a believeable way.
18. Nefla gave a good argument for returning to a linear story. I feel like I have to metagame too much to ignore Hawke/Crestwood in favor of the winter palace just so I can see Alistair/Loghain talk to Morrigan.
19. I agree with smidjygil, "the story of that game to finish in that game. It's getting on my pip, thinking my Hawke would stop the Mage Templar war, that my Inquisitor would stop Solas, only for said character baggage to be pushed onto the next character with no connection to it. I think it would make each Hero's story much stronger if they actually finished it."
20. A friendship Rivalry system with more explaination for why a rival would hang around. Because I like exploring my companions TWICE to see ALL their personality. I guess we get a bit of that with Varric, Cass, and Solas being quite upset with you, but Blakwall, Sera, and Dorian just leave- making this something I ultimately avoid doing just because I want them to be there until the end.
21. Banter must be fixed, become more consistent, and more frequent, and it's been implied that one can only get to know Viviene if Cole is in the party literally broadcasting her thoughts. If you've bothered to create a companion, we shouldn't have to rely on other party members to learn more about them.
22. I like that there are now no "injuries". I like that any party member can shake another party member awake (revive). I don't like capped potions.
23. Night day cycle would be a win. WEATHER. I also second swimming IN FULL ARMOR... or you know, make our PC undress and drag a floaty holding our armor. Whateves.
24. I want to talk to my companions out and about. After DA2 and DAI world for a while, I went to go replay DAO and was shocked, as I'd forgotten. BUT I LOVE IT< BRING IT BACK.
25. I want my Mabari back! I don't care if it makes sense! LOL Or make a either/or pet that makes sense with either race. A pygmy Halla. A mabari. A pygmy bronto. uh. Would the Qun have any need for a pet? I don't know. a BIG SPIDER cuz some peopel love those things. Ooo, a nug! A cat, anders style, would be cool too. Can you imagine befriending a kitty cat with milk only to have it burn down with Haven? The feels they could torture us with with companion animals.
26. Appeal to reason said, "Things that aren't in south Thedas. I want to go see Tevinter and Seheron and Par Vollen and Antiva and Nevarra and the Anderfels and each to have the culture and architecture cranked up to 10 so I can't confuse it with anywhere else. " I AGREE
27. vertigomes said "I'd like a family connection for the protagonist again. Multiple examples of this in DAO (Brosca, Cousland, Tabris, etc.) and the Hawke family. Even a cameo would be nice so it feels like your character has some roots..." I AGREE. More attachment please! But I guess I also get that some people don't want all those details shoved on them. I just got so many feels in DA2 from the Hawke Family.
28. I think DAI forces you to be a hero whether you like it or not. I couldn't play a childish character to the end of Inquisition. The minute you accept that ceremonial sword, the only thing you can keep denying is that your Andraste's Herald; not that you never wanted to accept but felt obliged to, not that you would have already left if it weren't for the whole Cory thing; which, by the way, gets resolved. And no matter how your quiz felt about being Quiz, they still stayed as head of the organization for two solid years to the point of Trespasser. I guess one could just skip trespasser and claim their Quiz called it quits, but in DA4, you're going to have to fill in whether your Quiz disbanded or connected to the chantry, so it'd be a lot of head cannon.
29. Like Quyk Sylvyr said "A culmination at the end of the game that makes you and your companions look more like a complete team - show everyone that isn't in the "chosen group" doing something - this is sort of a combination of what you see at the end of DA:O and ME2. In DA: O you have the second group of companions that help to guard the city gates. In ME2 it's the other team who takes an alternative path." Yeah! I didn't even notice this to be honest, but now that you mention it... ya!
30. Loved the Customization cameo of Hawke. Wonderful idea.
