1) A return of the Tactics menu ( I think this was mentioned already)

2) More variety of spells (I'd like to see a return of wards, hexes, heals, and other non-damaging spells) .  Just lobbing fire or ice gets boring)

3) more in-depth side missions

4) fewer collection quests

5) remove the RNG for armor and weapon schematics

6) If we have a customizable base again, better decoration selection

I would like them to go back to the dark story type like in origins and DA2. Inquisition had a very boring story imo and I missed that thrilling dark story with darkspawn.

And I would like to see interesting and deep companions like in origins and romances done like in Inquisition, cause I thought they were well done there.

I agree I want more darkness. Inquisition was to bright so to speak. I also want a deep story line. I want something like the opening scene of Origins that spoke of the lore. Why can't the lore and background of the characters matter more? In inquisition it barely effected anything. I was always like oh sweet maybe they can use the background but no. It never happened.

This vid was done in 2012 when Dragon's Dogma was first released on console. AJ basically (for me) nailed it. The PC version, Dragon's Dogmas Dark Arisen was recently released in Jan 2016 which I'm now currently playing.

It's nothing like any of the BW RPGs. There is no in depth narrative, PC has no personality (but you can RP all you want if so inclined), no companions, no witty dialogue, no banter. Fast Travel is sort of fixed but that single save slot remains an irritating detriment to enjoyment.

What I'd like for the next DA to include is the kind of dynamic combat seen in DDDA, some samples of which is in the vid. There're many times in which I've wanted to grab on to the dragon in DAI, climb up and strike but of course it cannot be done; you just swing at the legs or head from beneath. A harpy can swoop down and fly off with you if you're not careful. And as you can see in the vid, the dragon actually flies off with the PC on its back! I've encountered the dragon but too low to try fighting it. Or a monster can be tough to beat but if you're nimble and clever enough, you can maneuver it to fall off the cliff and die. Objects can also be thrown at mobs; inflict poison, curses, oil and set them on fire, etc.

Class skills are not locked. You can learn to be a fighter, an archer and a mage. If you learn all three, your core stats make you a hybrid and stronger. As a fighter, you can boost a pawn into the air with your shield to attack flying mobs or simply to get better tactical leverage. I've to say the Magic Archer is a fav because one can wield daggers and a bow. As an archer, you can target up to 10 at once. There're seeker bolt and even ricochet strikes. Wielding the daggers you can double leap or plunge daggers into target to inflict fire dmg or plunge daggers into ground to inflict other kinds of dmg. You can cast out lines to tangle the feet of enemies and pull them down. Or sweep in and with one strong hit, toss the target into the air, then you leap in and cut some more while it lays stun on the ground.

The pawns are not companions and they can be frustrating at times but they can do good things. There was one instance my PC was grabbed by a harpy and carried high into the air. As I struggled free and fall all the way to the ground, I was certain the PC will die. To my surprise, the mage pawn levitate, grab hold and brought the PC down safely. I've not seen the like before; a A.I. companion that actively saves you in the middle of a fight with no cutscene involved. The pawn will also make attempts to revive the PC if bespelled. And of course, the mages do heal. There're also health and stamina potions.

These are some of the good stuff that I wish can be incorporated into a DA game.

I'm gonna be another player who says "The hair" needs improvement, but I liked DA:I character creation best among all 3 series. Though, there was once, part of my characters eyeballs were peeking out over their closed eyelids and it freaked the hell out of me.I thought I positioned the eyes too far back into his head but no matter how I tried to position the eyes, they still jutted of as he blinked....so maybe try to fix the small, weird details from happening?

The romance is amazing but I'm a greedy player and I need more love in my life. There should be more bi characters so we don't get so disappointed in being unable to romance characters like Cullen, Sera or Cassandra if we were the same gender as them. And please, let us romance a dwarf too! There are humans, elves, now even a Qunari but no dwarfs? That's just sad, especially since I really liked Scout Harding. I would also prefer more character quests than collecting stuff that I don't see the need to collect.....like the bottles of thedas.

I thing that I absolutely hated in DA:I was the limited slots for skills!!!! DAO and DA2 had a dozen slots but we only get 8 slots for DAI. Its frustrating! And also, please gives more AOE skills back. DAO and DA2 had awesome AOE skills which DAI doesn't really have, unless you're a rift mage. And another important skill....HEAL! there's no heal in the game unless you're knight enchanter?! Which requires focus to cast?! Also, to be honest, the rogue specialization kinda sucks. At one point, I kinda regretted playing as a rogue, except for the fact that a rogue can open doors which other classes can't.

The mounts were nice (at least most of them are) so I hope you keep that. But maybe allow the other team members to ride mounts too, instead of disappearing. I miss a lot of party banter because I'm mostly on the mount. Even when I'm not on the mount, the banters are so rare, unlike in DA2 where there was a constant stream of party banter.

Also, please add back the option to choose or world state if we don't import save files. DA2 had that option but in DAI it was only default world state. For the next DA game, it would be awesome to play as a Tevinter slave or an Antivan Crow. It would be more surprising to have these kind of ppl as a hero. Instead of looking down at a particular race, they are looked down upon because of their status or something like that. Maybe throw in darker scenes like showing us the actual torture they are put through like whipping? That will make us feel more sympathy for them instead of always just hearing them say that their tortured, you should actually show us that they're tortured.

Random spawning of characters like the chantry sister in hissing wastes was just tiresome. I lost count the amount of times I had to run around the hissing wastes just looking for one woman. If you do intend to try something like that perhaps on a smaller map? Like the quizquisition guy.

Better armor would be nice too. I liked the way some of the outfits made them look regal, like the high keeper robes or the warden armor, but some others just looked weird on them, so even if they had higher stats, I couldn't bear looking at them for the next 30 hours or so into the game and just sold it.

I liked how Varric was a playable character for 2 DA games, and how you brought back characters from the previous DA games like Hawke, Leliana, Morrigan, Alistair..... so I can only hope you bring back more, like Fenris (Tevinter), Zevran (Antiva), Sebastian (Starkhaven), Isabella (Rivain)...after all, we'll be exploring Northern Thedas, right? Oh, and don't forget Dorian!

I get that Solas would be the villain in the next series but he didn't seem all that badass to me. I think you need meaner villains. Corypheus was kinda too easy to beat at every turn. Funny how a guy with a dragon and a army of mages/ templars isn't doing much damage. If he wanted to cause havoc, you'd think he would just fly into Orlais or Ferelden on his dragon, blow some fire (is it even fire?) on them and burn Southern Thedas to ashes instead of giving the Inquisition the time to run around collecting bottles and mosaic pieces. So yes, I think you seriously need meaner and darker villains. DAI just wasn't dark enough. DA2 was full of it though. Mom dies, brother/sister dies, siblings betrayal, companion/ lover betrayal,....oooh, the angst is amazing. The next DA game needs more angst.

For now, that's all I can think of but I'll be sure to add more if I can think of any.

I want to go the Black City. I want to walk in there and finally find out what that place really is. It's so sad Inquisitor lost the anchor (or maybe there is still some hope they still have it and actually just lost their arm?) It would be great adventure! The Fade sequences in games have been usually very short and similar. I liked the Fade Sequence in The Calling where the Fade truly changed when they walked into other peoples dreams. In Origins it mostly just looked like the same old Fade. Maybe our next protagonist could be a dreamer and we could visit our companions dreams...

Other things:

- Better hair (obviously)

- Multiple player races

- Big lively city or cities with interesting NPC's

- Pet (not as a companion but rather similar to the mabari in DA2)

- Inquisitor (if not main character then at least playable in major scenes concerning Solas!)

- If possible I would like to have some different backrounds: Magister's apprentice (for elf or human mages), Outsider (for all class and race combinations) and Slave (for rogue/warrior elves, humans and qunari).

1.) Orzammar as rendered by the Frosbite engine. <3_____<3

2.) Tevinter

3.) Par Vollen

4.) Seheron

5.) Kal-Sharok

And all the cultural/political nuances therein.

I would like to see better armor for non-humans, because that situation was just sad in DAI. I would like to see better hair, particularly for women since most of the hairstyles had signs of male pattern baldness. I would like to see mages with healing abilities and the return of the blood mage spec but only if it can be meaningfully addressed. I love the way companion armor works in DAI, how it changes according to the style of the character wearing it... moar of that, pls.

Since the Qunari will probably be the main enemies for most of the game if it is based in Tevinter, I would love to have potentially two duels between the Protagnist and a Qunari warrior. The first one would be against the right-hand man of the Arishok (bonus point if he is not a "Kossith" but a human or an elf) and the second one (accessible only if the right-hand was defeated in duel) between Stenishok and the Protagonist.

Yes, the duel of DA II agasint the Arishok was my favourite moment of the whole games (because I played a two-handed warrior so I had some really cool action ^^).

Edit : and no Vashoth character. I want to play a Qunari not a human with horns. At best, a Tal-Vashoth would be great, it would need to have very specific dialogues crafted to represent the fact that despite his departure from the Qun, he was still moulded by it.

I want to see both natural open world and urban open world, I do not like black or white, I want grey.

Good characters that events may or may not change them and their opinions(example Iron Bull which you can change his opinion, and Vivenne that barely changes as the story progress)

Good voice acting, I think the voice acting in all the DA games was well done!

gay, bi and straight romances(I am straight myself but that does not mean I do not care about other people) I am an elven fan and I would like to see a female elf romance BUT, considering dwarves had no romance option, no proper ordinary romance option, I want the dwarven fans to have their own dwarven romance.

A protoganist that can show more of his emotions and belifes and that even a small thing can trigger his emotions(Spoiler, when I played a Lavellan and his clan died because of my choices and no one even talked about it I felt sad really)

Playable races, so that all will enjoy

Minigames(Like wicked grace)

A protoganist that is not another "Chosen One"

Voiced Protoganist

Swiming

Day and Night cycle

Weather cycle

Season Cycle(Only if we can play after the mission ends)

A chance to see Val Royaux in its full glory(An expansion perhaps, I know we are most likely going north but, one can dream)

If elves are dissapering in the numbers, then less elven npcs

Things that aren't in south Thedas. I want to go see Tevinter and Seheron and Par Vollen and Antiva and Nevarra and the Anderfels and each to have the culture and architecture cranked up to 10 so I can't confuse it with anywhere else.

And, as unlikely as it seems, something story wise thats completely unrelated to characters from the previous game. If the point of a new protagonist is to make it easier for new people to come into the franchise and not feel overwhelmed like they need to play the previous games, then stop having so much of the story based around former companions and enemies. There has to be other game-story worthy things going on in the world that aren't related to the previous games protagonist.

If I have a castle again, maybe it could be totally fixed up by the end. And picking garden/sparring ring/hospital is more than an itsy bitsy cosmetic change. The Templar tower had a couple dudes by each door and like 2 dudes in it. It should have been a hub, or so I thought it was going to be.

If we’re going to upgrade a new Skyhold, please make it more useful. For example, if I decide I want the main tower to accommodate mages, then perhaps include unique mage gear/schematics in a treasure chest there. The mages are in there and just general mage interior design. If we upgrade the garden, it could provide exclusive reagents for a powerful potion/tonic/grenade and not two flower pots. I don't even know if the chantry upgrade to the courtyard did anything.

My "background specific quests" to be more than a pair of war table missions that take 3 hours to get a useless item from. I don't recall reaver quest beyond getting the ingredients. Being a human noble got me like 3 dialogues of "yes i know some nobility stuff like how to say 'my lord'"

If they show me the option to save a city/burn it, or customize the colour of my military's army, then actually let me. I'm still bothered by all their expo/demo promises of "hey this video we're showing features finalized gameplay options that are in the final game" and then they weren't. Remember the "Pinkquisition" jokes? I do, but I couldn't dye a rug pink.

And also mini bar games like cards and the stuff they had in Fable 1. That was awesome and would be great.

I agree that some of the things they showed in early demos looked cool, but I can only assume they had reasons for scrapping them; ideas/features will always be moved out from games at late stages for variuos reasons, no matter how finished they are. So early demos will always have the risk of showing things that will not make it in the final game. The alternative would then be to go "total dark" á la Fallout 4, but I think I prefer the developers showing us some teasers.

I'm the complete opposite. Don't sell me on a game with features that won't be in the game, and especially don't do it when you're saying "We're only showing this because it is totally and 100% finished. Aren't you excited to do exactly this?!"

Imagine if you were buying a car and were told "This car comes with heated seats!" and you were all "Woohoo, warm butts! I can live without them, but it is sure nice to have them included" and then you buy your car and the seats aren't in it because reasons. The car is still nice, drives well, gets good miles to the gallon but you miss the heated seats you were promised.

The problem is that software is very different from cars. You implement parts in increments with the goal that each part should be completely finished at each deadline, but there is always the possibility that anything you thought was "finished" is removed later on due to unforeseen consequences (bugs, market desicions etc).

So if you want to see anything early on, you must be aware of the risk that you are shown "the heated seats" which later had to be removed because testers reported that their butts got burned ;). At the time you were shown, there were no problems and the feature was fully included. No one suspected that this would have to go.

Anyone being shown such pre-releases should of course be informed of this. I guess it says so in any fine-prints that accompany the presentations. The problem there is that at least some of what was shown of DAI were leaked cams with no intention of being shown to a greater audience. There's no way the developers can take responsibility for anyone having seen stuff this way.

Then don't show something with the assurance it will be in the final game. Say "this is a system we are working on" and not "this will be in the final game and these decisions will affect your interactions with party members"

What i also would like to see in DA 4 is that you can use the environment to set for example a field on fire to destroy your enemy or something like that. And what i also would like to see is when i used that fire spell that the environment would be burned after that and not that there is nothing at all. No sign that i used a fire spell just a minute ago. That that would take a couple of weeks for the environment ingame to restore that kind of damage or longer.

And another thing that bothers me is i was in the Hissing waste and i used a meteor shower at a red Templars outpost and i used it right next to that cage on wheals thing with that sitting guy behind it. That is just weird there was just a meteor shower there and that guy just sits there like nothing happened just seconds ago. And after that no craters from my Meteor Shower so that looks just weird and unrealistic. They should do something about that to in the next game.

I'd like a family connection for the protagonist again. Multiple examples of this in DAO (Brosca, Cousland, Tabris, etc.) and the Hawke family. Even a cameo would be nice so it feels like your character has some roots...

Agreed. It was really annoying to not even get a letter from your family in DA:I (and its tone could have depended on which dialogue option you took with Josephine about how you got along with them). It would be better to have no known family than that.

Absolutely. Though I think Lavellan gets a letter from their Keeper? I could just be imagining that. Or misremembering.

It was especially weird with Cadash and Trevelyan, because we know they come from big honking families, and the significance of their family connections are part of their respective backgrounds. Even bumping into a cousin a la Charade would have been something.

I guess if you're playing a human, you've got Dorian.

If they do, can there at least be one origin with none whatsoever as well? I really don't want forced family connection like they did with some of the Wardens and especially with Hawke. I want our background to remain ambiguous.

Lesser areas to explore in return for more story content.

If we go to Tevinter then I want a more in depth look at the politics that are currently going on. The party of Maeveris vs others. I feel like they really wasted that with the civil war in Inquisition. I also want a more grey perspective of Tevinter. So far we've only encountered the bad, aside from Dorian.

More freedom when it comes to customizing armour.

And ofcourse better hair options.
