...writes stuff...

Yep.
Two things.
1) as alluded to above, ur ps3 was a technology marvel >1 decade ago, but is still old and runs comparitively hot. That silicon paste heat transfer erodes over time. If ps3 is old and fan runs loud- that would be good time to reapply a thin layer of fresh paste.

2) Whatever we do to avoid the memleak, sooner or later we all arrive at the point of no return ("Alea iacta est").
- A good host would recognize it, and verify.
- If confirmed, and rate drops substantially, the host will announce his/her imminent exit graciously beforehand
- and exit (after wave /objective end + promptly after the new wave start.

This selfless act means that only the host suffers consumable loss and unfinished waves. No-one needs to rebuilt - and three coop players (coop) can at least finish their game. The gentlemen/ladies's agreement would be that everyone reboots after that and not prolongate the leak to another game.

^ Still off topic.

And I still love to play on PS3, so I don't get what you're getting at. You saying I can't make observations? Or complain on BSN?

No map is worse than the other, if you're using the Scimitar V.

Neither. Simply like we said.

Live with it.

And when leaks/ frame drop/... happens don't spoil it for the other players in your lobby, by selfishly clinging to finish till w11 as host.

No, I rage quit. Unless I'm playing with someone I know. Then I complain for great justice. Then bring that justice to BSN.

On topic: hazard giant is the biggest NO of all the content on the PS3; frame rate loss guaranteed.

I try to actively avoid this map at all times. If a random settiong hits HGiant I will immediately quit %90 of the time.

Goddess is fun to play but glitchy as fvck, frame rate loss occurs at a high rate on this map

Goddess would probably be my favorite map, if not for those issues. I just think it's a really fun map. But one round on it, it's reset the system time for me

I wouldn't really know.  I have only hosted 3 games on the PS3 and they were all slayer games preset to glacier   ..I would imagine glacier hazard or ghost hazard would be terribly taxing on the system.

^ No hazard map is good, and after playing on one you should really restart your system, but Hazard Giant is far and away the worst (for my system anyways)

^ So you could then say Retaliation is the best DLC for PS3. Right?

Still missing my point. What you saying is that there's no yin or yang and that everything is equal. And I'm saying there still has to be a worst map on PS3. They weren't all created equal. Then again, this is a fantasy forum were we're all kitties and quarians playing Mass Effect in perfect complaining harmony.

Your point is wrong. The worst map is whichever map I have to play against geth on.

I wasn't aware of Hazard Giant.

Did always liked it, because I love Giant, and Hazard has far more Grenades.

Never suffer much trouble while hosting it. Jade and Reactor seems to causes more problems.

yeah. Agree. Like Forrest Gump says : "Life is like a a box of chocolates you never know what you're gonna get". Some blame the map, the rest just get on with it.

lol  That sounds great in theory, but in reality you get those Hosts that stubbornly refuse to quit even when you get the 'endless extraction' wave. I mean if they aren't getting any credits no one else is either. Right?

I think the biggest issue on PS3 is players not being aware of memory leak and hosting for long durations without a PS3 reset.

SF, supremocognito (evnltn), (probably our only Bengali) explained all of this memleak avoidance in a post a while back.

Collectors: You can play even collectors on plat, but it requires u to know your wave budget and limit the number of praetorians instantaeously to 2 (even if it means missiling), as well as limiting the swarmers. For some reason most pugs missed the fact that they have large squishy heads with marvellous hs bonus.

Long story short one can manage the wave budget on gold generally as only bsn'er in a game, whilst the rest of the pug aims for the feet, ignores swarmers, and do things that pugs do like running around/away avoiding known spawn points etc etc

Memleak prob2 : starting without a full lobby. This is the most common one. Leaks occur Ca 33% of the time when a player fill an empty spot ingame. The host (ps3) takes a leak. And the game starts to show this through stutters all the way onwards till finishing w11. So, faithfully ignoring this early warning , the rest of the players stays/ goes their own way - or jumps all over the world to other new lobbies with their mem leaks, happily suitcased and ready to spread. All would've been happier if the stutter-jacks would simply reboot (only 2 min wasted )(after the receiving the early warning) and joined lobbies fresh. My last freeze was ca 1 month ago.

It's not the freezes that concern me that much. After all, I mostly pug Gold. It's the frame drops. I'm much more sensitive to frame drops after playing on PC. I adjust pretty well to 30fps standard, but as soon as it drops too much, it just becomes a pain as everything becomes more and more a blur the lower away from 30fps things get.

And I never heard about the mem leak starting with a lobby not being full and when a player joins mid game. Maybe that would explain why today as host I had mem leak already by start of second game, even though I picked the best maps and factions. So thanks for this tip. Will look into it next time I start another session (which should be soon, as I'm just taking a quick break from a long enough session). But so many are impatient to wait for the lobby to fill up... including myself sometimes.

Hazard Gaint.

Between the patato frame drops, meme leak, dark disorientating vision made worse by constant flashes of light that also comes with constant screen shake, it is the hardest map for precise aiming bar none on PS3.

Why it's made much worse on PS3 (especially if hosting against Collectors or Ceberus) because the terrible frame rate greatly adds to making everything a blur while moving the camera in search of targeting enemies. Analog aiming is less precise with less frames. Situational awareness takes a big dive too. And when you do line up an enemy headshot, screen shake stagger will make you miss. All that's missing is a Venom Heavy Melee FragNade spamming Destroyer with AdrenMod3's always following you.

Have to agree on hazard giant on every point.

Found myself wondering why I don't host random maps more often some months ago. Then that turned up. More of a sniping nightmare than glacier, or hazard dagger.
