Mmm, those creatures were ported from NWN1. At least according to the description. Of course it's possible they may have been enhanced in the process.

Technically, it's possible.  Sure.  You wind up keeping the mesh and the textures and tossing the skeleton and animations, using existing ones from NWN and re-weighting the skin mesh yourself.  For instance, I did this with my Automotoi, Arabian Nights skeletons and the rhinoceros I contributed to Draygoth's mount pack.  It can take quite bit of work, though.

As a general rule, any mesh that you can load into 3DS Max/GMax can be exported into NWN.

How well it runs and looks, though, is usually dependent on how much care went into the conversion and how good the model was to begin with.

Edit: Also, NWN2 models tend to lean real heavily on their normal maps.  Most of the time I don't think they'd look that great converted to NWN 1.

Yes, you may need to bake shadows to give the back-ported model more depth.

The lions/tigers you put screenshots of are not nwn1 ports, they are nwn2 "native". The ones listed as Bioware, Bioware-DLA, or CODI are nwn1 converts, though Hellfire probably gave them more polys and stuff. The myconid may or may not be a port.

And as OTR said, you'd have to do new skeletons for them because the skeletons are not convertible.

Ya well I had just ran across them while looking for animal hak packs. I was just thinking to myself that having animals that are less blocky in NWN would be nice is all.

May be one day I will look into toying around with animals, but for now I will stick with learning about working with tileset haks. :)

There's lots of options for overriding, you just need to look around in depth. CEP, Project Q and NWNE have plenty, to begin with.
