So I reinstalled the game and forgot to switch languages before starting a new run. Since Origin obviously checks IP and thought I might like the German version, it did just that.

 

Now, do you know when something's too clean. That's what the German version is. I only played through character creation to the first point I could actually save, but that was more than enough. The voice actors, as opposed to the original english version, come over as totally emotionless. No accents, no down to earth expressions, just as if they read some text from a page in a meeting. For the first time. They're conveying the meaning all right, but there's absolutely no feeling put into these lines. Liara is even adressed like a total stranger although I took a character that had an affair with her.

 

So, it's correct. No flaws, but also no emotion. Can't imagine to play the whole game with voice acting like that.

I've yet to find a single game where the localized version beats the original in terms of voice acting and translations.

 

Mass Effect 1 & 2 were localized here in Hungary (no dubbing, just subtitles), but it was godawful. It looked like as if they just translated the lines in the dialog file, without even checking the context in which they are said.

 

(if you change Origin's language to english, it'll download the games in english too)
