For the Batarians?

We all know that Batarians are essentially like the North Koreans of the ME Universe and are not that lovable like the Klingons are in the other desirable universe. But even with all that's happened and hearing the atrocities many slavers, Pirates and the old Haugemity have done, do you believe now with the old Government trashed and their numbers fewer than the Krogan, along with a noticeable politician rescued, Governor Grothan Pazness, do you think that they can change even if it'll take time maybe?

Considering that their homeworld and system was the first one to get invaded with little effort, and a huge number of them were transformed into cannibals, any influence they had in the galaxy can be considered nonexistent now. They going to need the Council's aid to rebuild their infrastructure and they are going to need the batarians living outside the Hegemony to boost the population of new colonies, in order to have a chance surviving as a race.

Post Reapers, the Batarians have a severely depleted population. With that inherently comes a breakdown of the caste system; you can't have multiple castes if everyone's too busy being focused on survival and rebuilding.

It may be a century before their population expands enough to fill Khar'shan again, and even so they're going to be crippled economically for a very long time.

North Korea doesn't have a successful empire based on slave trade. I could have given examples just based on the caste-system alone.

If anything, the Batarians you meet in the trilogy, except for the slavers you see during Bring Down the Sky, are all exiles. The fact that the refugees from hegemony are given entry to Citadel kinda tell a lot how the galaxy tolerates them.

Given ME3's events and that the last DLC featuring a Batarian, Omega, had him as outright friendly (as Omega Batarians go) towards Shepard, I think so, OP.

Thanks to Batarians like Bray (Omega DLC) I have hope. His email to Shepard really showed a different side to them, an almost "human" side and I liked that.

Batarians should often have an edge to them, as well as different attitudes than humanity in general (though that's hard to pin down even for us).

But they can have a different edge. I actually wouldn't even mind having a story shift where we see a newer batarian government/societal approach be arguably superior to where the Alliance/humanity is possibly headed.

Yep! I totally agree!

I also liked Balak despite how we first meet him. He sounds like he just wanted someone to listen and then messed it all up with the Blitz. He willingly lets go of his hate to join Shepard after all that's happened to him and his people too. I found him and Bray showing us a side to them that makes it hard for me to hate them all. I even liked how the Omega DLC had Vorcha that helped you, and one of my fav scenes is seeing Shepard and a Batarian working together to take down that one Vorcha to have the other join during the Blood Pack mission.
