Saw a quick news article and stream of twitter posts by Chris Schlerf.

We finally got the confirmation about him departing BioWare, which apparently we all picked up on a few months back it seems. Makes me wonder why it took so long for him to announce it.

He is apparently working for Bungie now. It also seems like he is not necessarily in the know as to what the final product of Andromeda, although he's excited for the release. Seems like an amicable parting of the ways as well.

I am curious now as to what is going to happen, what this will mean for Andromeda. Your thoughts?

So sad, the man gave John - 117 some life, still - his work on the game was probably done. New Bungie desperately needs a writer for their crappy game.

Seriously, Destiny's "plot" (if you can call it that) reads like it was made up with mad-libs and cutouts from the back of cereal boxes.

Dude's hopping from SciFi writing job to SciFi writing job like he's rushing to finish a bucket list or something.

Of course it does, it's all PR and political correctness. If everybody told everybody else what they REALLY thought of them, there wouldn't be a single employed person in the world today.

Don't believe me? Look at Jay Wilson telling his facebook buddies !@#$ that loser about David Brevik, because he gave Wilson's Diablo 3 a thumbs down compared to his own work on Diablo & Diablo 2.

After that "leak" happened, Jay Wilson was never allowed near D3 again.

Makes me think that Schlerf chose to leave and was waiting for an NDA of some kind to expire.

Given that he started with a post-Bungie Halo, maybe it's simply a matter that Bungie is a company he always aspired to work for, and when the opportunity came he jumped at it.

According to his twitter feed he hasn't been using it since August 2015. He apparently confirmed that he wasn't at BioWare as soon as he noticed people were asking.

It could have been that he had a hard time adapting to how BioWare writes their stories and went to something that was more familiar with Destiny.

Unless BioWare announces a lengthy or open-ended delay I'm not worried about Schlerf leaving. I'm sure the pay at Bungie is better and the story would and should already be done by this point. All that should be left to write at this point in development are the small details and dialogue.

My thoughts? Did he just get tired of making games with actual stories -_-

well Bungie is trying to save their asses with Destiny 2 so they better be hiring some good writers.

Maybe this time they should actually release the whole thing. Destiny had at least twice as much story content before it shipped but they stripped it out in the hopes of selling it bit by bit later.

Well Destiny is looking up... I mean I like Destiny's Aesthetic I its look and feel

Its story however is woefully underwhelming even though it really does have the parts... its just not used very effectively

I mean If he can take the Stuff thats there and just give it the Nudge, Yeah Destiny should be petty good going into "2"

though... The Asari wish they could pull off the "Better then you" like Mara Sov.

I've always said that the guy did a pretty good job with Halo 4. Many people hate the story of Halo 4, but I still maintain that they hate it because they dont actually understand anything about the lore of Halo. This guy does a better job going into detail about just how good Halo 4 actually was than I ever could:

https://haruspis.wor...lysis-prologue/

It's worth a read for anyone that likes Halo.

But that's beside the point - I welcomed his addition to Mass Effect. He proved to me that he could take a daunting task - take a story that has more lore than Mass Effect, yet its a FPS, and somehow weave the extended lore into a FPS narrative in such a way that it set the course for a new story arc (the Reclaimer arc). Could it have been better? Yes. But I would argue that it is exceptionally difficult to address the vast lore of a game story Halo (literally it has like ten times more lore than Mass Effect) in the confines of a first person shooter...

...and so, I was interested to see what he could do with an RPG. You know, a game that actually cares about the story as it is central to the function of the game mechanics. I was cautiously optimistic, as he was unproven in this medium - but I wasn't against it like a large number of people here were (and I think unfairly so).

If only.

Although I think like over half the MEA sub would be gone if that happened.

Frankly, I'd like it if they just replaced this entire forum with a giant Twitter thread.

More like an outline with the General thought behind it.
