It's actually one of my highest leveled URs, at six, I think. And I liked it on my collector adept even when it was level two.
May have to go back to rewarm the ACA again... haven't played this guy in a while and he can be so much fun.

I mostly use it with the collector and as a sidearm with some infiltrators
But mine's at X (last ultra rare I maxed)
I didn't use it much until it was at VII
Theres quite the amount of prolecctor love in this thread...do you guys take the collector weapons damage evo/build..or go full power build? I could never get the hang of that character...I do remember there was a small amount of time, about a year ago, where I was getting really high scores with him...but I was promoting so much that I forgot what build I used..I have tried to get back to that build..but it's been too long....usually I go back & forth with either full weapons build..or pure powers. Thoughts?
I use it with the magazine upgrade + power amplifier on Human Engineer. Fire it between cooldowns on your powers or short bursts and it usually won't run out.
All the infinite ammo weapons need leveling to increase their magazine capacity. CSMG especially since it has magical disappearing shots.
My ACA is a little more power damage focused I suppose you could say, and I run CSMG on it commonly. It rarely even hits more than 25 SMG kills in a gold game on him, biotic kills get maxed. Part of that is that WA will steal kills from the actual weapon, but the other part is that CSMG does not really do a whole lot of damage. It does ok burst damage against armored targets with high headshot multipliers, which happen to be the least common type of target.
I run it on my human engineer with IA and it is ridiculous. Has probably turned into my favorite kit, fire explosions galore
Exactly. Any character with spam-worthy powers that can hopefully string combos together (HEng, HSent, AA, et al) break up the clip consumption perfectly. The CSMG has made my QFE feel like she's coked-up...such quick cooldowns and that 800 RPM, lordy lord.
I've actually become overly-addicted to fast-paced characters as a result. Tried to run my BatSent a couple times with slow firing weapons...and I feel like I have zero rhythm with him now.
Lots of people say they like it but honestly it just doesn't seem to cut it compared to many other weapons, but that's SMG's in a nutshell. (Excluding the Hurricane, but that's it's own can'o'worms)
I'd rather take a pistol (Talon/Arc), the Valiant, or even the Mattock.
Tons of people on here like the thing, which I don't get. TBH I'd rather have an uncommon like the Locust or Tempest. It just seems to lack sustained DPS except against armor, where it is decent but still mutilated by even the Hornet and BPP in its own class, before we even start to talk about the unholy abomination that is the Hurrdurricane.
Tho I hardly use SMG's because Biower didn't include a quarian one, but they gave us a passive to reduce SMG weight. Nice try Biower writers, but I know your tricks: Implying that we steal SMGs is just yet more blatant antiquarian racism.

This is my build I used to roll with. You could of course go with Ascension mode for more damage, but I don't like the long animation, nor the damage taken penalty.
And I forgo the power damage for more weapons damage and headshots, since CSMG is good @ headshots and the power damage is not that huge. You could experiment with Dark Matter Sphere, but the 4.5 meter radius I feel is a bit too small for more open maps like Hydra and similar, but very good for White or Glacier.
I use this:

Dark Sphere evos are bugged so I really see no reason to go past Rank 4. The CSMG is decent with this setup, but the bulk of your damage is going to come from Dark Sphere detonations and Dark Channel Seeker Swarm combos. It's one of the most fun kits I've played, when set up like this. I tried a PPR Weapons Damage build and it just was boring.
I use it on the Prollector with Ammo Clip and Piercing Barrel and Warp ammo. Throw Sphere, cast Dark Channel, shoot, detonate Sphere, maybe fire off some Swarms and by that time the CSMG cools down. Rinse and repeat. Obviously go for headshots since it's easy.
Melts boss armor like frickin butter.
Does it have any advantage vs a hurricane for instance ? I always found this weapon to have a real advantage only as a primer, for instance on a human adept or volus engineer.
For those who do like it, is there any particular reason to use it over the functionally similar Lancer other than it being a little bit lighter and Collector passives?

More stability. Being a little lighter is also a nice feature for my HSent with 4 ranks in tech armour. Also, I use the Lancer on a bunch of kits already ![]()
It's not an amazingly powerful weapon, and there are more damaging options in the SMG category; I wouldn't use it as main source of damage, unlike Hurricane, BPP, and Tempest (TSol
), but it does hit hard with the proper setup (for me, warp ammo on a biotic kit), provides utility, and works at pretty much any range.

You can strap a power amplifier on it?
I've used on the Justicar and Huntress since forever. ACA too but I haven't played him for almost 18 months.

Clip starts to regen immediately. And it uses SMG consumables. That's all I can think of offhand. The Lancer has more recoil, which may or may not matter.
It is really a pretty average weapon, even though reading the forums you might get the impression that it is god tier.

That was my impression. It's sort of okay on a kit where you are using a power every 2-3 seconds, so the clip regening between makes it take forever to run out, and its inherent accuracy/stability makes using it without consumables or accuracy boosts very easy, but it doesn't do much actual damage. Warp ammo on a biotic sounds good, but that goes for just about everything.
I've tried it as primary on the QFE and it worked okay for spreading disruptor/fire bullets, but to me still felt underwhelming compared to something like even the Locust (which I actually can stack a power amp and barrel mod on due to the reload duration being next to nothing), nevermind the Lancer. Best use I've found for it is an anti-goon/armor backup weapon with ULM/HVB on some setups that aren't all that good at dealing with them.

Yeah, but since the Thermal Clip mod is essentially required, you lose out on the damage or piercing barrels and essentially limit yourself to AP ammo in the process? Maybe Warp IV ammo on a biotic balances this out?
Guess I'll never know until biower adds a quarian biotic.
I use it on the Fury. Mainly because she's a walking biotic explosion waiting to happen and doesn't really need a weapon. Helps with shields on big things I guess.

QMR forsakes Quarian Flotilla!
QMR: "Poop Suits got uncomfortable! And they're a pain in the butt when they pop!"
The illustrious BSN combattatant, obsessed with Quarianism, caved in to Asari superiority, yesterday. Reports indicate QMR already training dashes and ordering large amounts of Warp ammunition.

typical Council speciest slander. Always jelly of what you can't have.
Another one of those "Close, but not quite" guns.
I still use it for variety, but the Hurricane is my go-to SMG. I don't like to play a distance game anyway.
N7 Slayer is great with the CSMG because holding your fire button while charging/PD'ing the gun immediately charges ammo for the duration of the animation at the same rate that it fires so you don't need to really keep an eye on the ammo situation as long as you're using a lot of powers, as a Slayer should.
