Dumb question....when playing Hawke in DA2, I used the default female Hawke minus the blood smear.  When meeting the Champion at Skyhold, I end up with a Champion who looks nothing like the Hawke of DA2.  What gives?  You'd think they would have no problem recreating their own default.  Instead, the new Hawke looks rather lame.

Also, the voice of Hawke is exactly like voice of my female Inquisitor.  All a bit disappointing...

You can edit the default Hawke  and Alix-Wilton Regan and Jo Wyatt are not the same if you listen carefully. Hawke (Jo) is higher-toned and softer), Alix (your Inquisitor) is deeper.

The fact that they didn't put much effort into preserving the looks of the default Hawkes was pretty disappointing, yes. But Hawke's voices are the same as they were in DA2, which are not the voices of the Inquisitor.

They both speak with an RP English accent, but they hardly sound "exactly alike", any more than two women who shared any other accent you pick would.

I think "deeper" is being used loosely here. Alix-Wilton still sounds rather high pitched, like a preteen girl.

*raises eyebrow*

You must know some odd pre-teen girls...

I think Jo and Alix sound similar, as voices go, but I don't know how either one sounds like a preteen girl  They both sound like average adult women to me.

I do think that Alix and Wyatt sound a bit similar. I just go with Montano so it's all good to me.

I've spent days listening to her as Samantha in Mass Effect so I can tell the difference lol and she also said she went deeper for the Inquisitor in an interview. I've also being hearing Jo a lot in ME and Witcher 3 so after awhile you do notice the difference.

Can I just add that the female VA for the Dwarf/Qunari was so damn awesome in Mass Effect 3 yet she seems so... less emotional in DAI. It's too bad because she's a good actress! I think she really was amazing in Trespasser though.

Nothing new under the sun....while searching google for images of the default female Hawke, I found a link to a previous discussion on this topic 18 months ago.

Someone also came up with a jpeg tutorial of how to customize Hawke to her original DA2 default.  It comes reasonably close, but it lacks that wonderful, self-assured smirk that helped give her personality!  Oh well...  After hearing the conversation again, I agree....different voice actresses for Hawke and Inky.

No problem for me. My Hawke is always male and of course, english. While my Inquisitor is always American regardless of sex.

Sumalee can act, just like I think all of the Inquisitors can. I think that (at least for the base game), all four of them were voice-directed to sound less emotional because Bioware was overreacting to complaints about Hawke being too emotional. And then people, understandably, complained that the Inquisitor was flat.

Luckily, they improved a bit in JoH and Descent, and eventually became truly emotional in Trespasser. If the entire game had been like that, it would have been great.

That's exactly what I thought! I loved Sumalee in ME3 and Alix too, but even in DAI you can tell they are holding back.

I like hearing AWR and Jo talking side-by-side. Both sound similiar. I don't see a problem with that.
