When is the best time to do this?  I am doing the paragon route and I am really at the start of the game.  I have all the DLC and I have recruited Mordin, Kasumi and Zaheed.  Right now am just running around the galaxy collecting resources and doing up grades with maybe the occasional N7 mission.  My question is when to do the Zaheed loyalty mission.  I intend to do the paragon option and save the factory workers.  I understand that if you do that you will need a high paragon rating and therefor it is best to do this early.  Would it be best to do this before I do the rest of the initial required recruitment missions?

I think I did his loyalty mission when my paragon rating was half the way and had no trouble to earn is loyalty (I also saved the factory workers).

Even after picking paragon choice(saving the workers), I was able to gain his loyalty and I followed this mission order for ME2. Hope it helps.

I play it after Horizon. I did last night. Saved the workers. Gained Zaeed's loyalty

That's the very same mission order I am following.  I was thinking about moving Zaheed's mission earlier, but I guess I will leave it where it is.  I am at the check the planets for resources, Normandy memorial, Firewalker part.

I recruited all the characters of the first list (Garrus, Mordin, Jack, Kasumi and Zaeed for the dlc) did Horizon and then did all the loyalty missions I had to do at this point (included Zaeed's) and then recuited the new list of characters + did their loyalty missions. Just be sure to have half of your paragon rating !

I get it but Zaeed is not important to me so I kinda feel ok with that mission order

 

Edit: It's also like saving unimportant missions for last incase if I missed some dialogues with my crew members.

Pay no attention to the paragon/renegade meters. They have nothing to do with telling you whether you will pass a persuade check or not.

 

Here is what I wrote in another post:

For ME2 the persuade system is rather opaque. You have paragon and renegade meters, but they actually are misleading and you should not pay attention to them. To pass persuade checks in ME2 each check requires that you are either x% paragon or y% renegade. Sometimes the percentage required is very high, sometimes it is not so high. It will also depend on whether it is an intimidate or charm option. For some persuade checks the charm option (blue) requires a low percentage while the intimidate (red) option requires a high percentage. For others, the charm option may require a high percentage, while the intimidate option may require a low percentage.

 

How are these percentages calculated? Every time you enter some new area/run some mission, there will be a total number of paragon points that can be earned (p), and a total number of renegade points that can be earned ( r). Let's say you land on Omega, the first hub world you will probably go to. Let's say there are a total of 200 paragon points that could be earned here and 150 renegade points that could be earned here based on the dialogue choices you make. Now let's say you earn 100 paragon points and 50 renegade points. (And you missed out on a number of points because you didn't talk to certain people or picked a neutral option.) Your paragon percentage is now 50%, and your renegade percentage is 33%. Now let's say you are presented with a dialogue where you can persuade someone. The charm option requires that you be 40% paragon and intimidate option requires that you be 35% renegade. You will be able to use the charm option (blue) because your paragon percentage is 50% which is greater than the 40% required, but you will not be able to use the intimidate option (red) because your renegade percentage is 33% which is less than the 35% required.

 

As you travel to more and more places and run more and more missions, the total number of paragon and renegade points you could potentially earn keeps growing and growing, but the likelihood of you earning all the points available is rather low, meaning as the game progresses it becomes increasingly harder to pass persuade checks.

 

For this reason, it is recommended that you 1) try to get to difficult persuade checks early in a game, and 2) import as many paragon and renegade points from ME1 as possible. You can import up to 190 paragon points and 190 renegade points from ME1. Using the above example, a character that imported 190 renegade and 190 paragon points would start out - before even talking to anyone - at 95% paragon and 126% renegade, meaning they could pass any persuade check imaginable. For an experienced player who understands how the system works it is entirely possible to play a character that is 50% paragon and 50% renegade and pass all the persuade checks in ME2.

 

Long story short: import as many paragon points as possible from ME1 (190 is the max) and do Zaeed's mission as early as possible.

Well my imported save was max paragon.  So you suggest that I do the Zaeed loyalty mission early?

I have no problem getting Zaeed's loyalty when playing the mission after Horizon. I even save the workers. Its not hard.

I've convinced Zaeed very easily with the blue bar at about 25% filled. This was done just after Horizon

 

With the Jack and Miranda confrontation, I do Miranda's loyalty mission, then complete Jack's loyalty mission right away. When I face both, I have both the renegade and paragon dialogue to choose from without losing their loyalty

Full bar ? nope. Each time I played the game and did Zaeed's loyalty mission I had only a half of my blue bar and never had any problem.

 

For Miranda/jack and Tali/legion, my bar was full.

An import with a high Paragon rating can probably pass the persuade check right away. I've managed to earn his loyalty right after recruiting Mordin and Garrus on a Renagon import, so a Paragon import should have no trouble.

Well I am following LordTrinen's mission order at:  http://www.gamefaqs....ct-2/67767824. So far it seems to be working well and he has Zaeed's loyalty mission near the end.  He has it last, but before Leagon's obviously.  I have just recruted the first 4 members plus Kasumi.  I have not yet triggered the Horizon mission, but I know it is next.

That is a pretty decent guide to follow but I would like to make one suggestion that I find to be extremely helpful.

 

After Horizon I would suggest delaying either recruiting Tali or Grunt/Mordin loyalty mission until later because you can only complete 5 missions/assignments before the main story line progresses.

 

Instead while on Ilium visit Baria Frontiers near where you talk to Tracking Officer Dara and purchase the Pylos Nebula Star Chart.

 

Head to Canalus in the Dirada System and scan the planet for the N7 Assignment: Anomalous Weather Detected

 

The mission reward is another Damage Protection upgrade worth another 10% to shields/barrier/armor but more importantly it should be your third Damage Protection upgrade (The first should have been bought from Saronis Applications on the Citadel and the second from scanning the destroyed YMIR mech during Jack's recruitment).

 

This third upgrade unlocks the Hard Shields research upgrade on the Normandy which will provide another -20% damage protection to Shepards shields/barrier.

 

I usually make this the first mission after Horizon because the extra damage protection is invaluable and you can definitely notice the difference.

Ok.  So what missions would definitely do after Horizon?  I assume that the other missions can be done after Collector ship mission.  I was going to do a bunch of N7 missions, but I didn't realize that they counted for the 5 mission trigger.  Should I wait on those until after the collector ship mission?  I don't think I bought the Damage protection upgrade on the Citadel so I will need to back track for that.  I will do that before I do Horizon.

The best time to get Zeed Loyal is after you have your paragon up hi enough that his renegade don't set your paragon back.

I was able to get Zaeed's loyalty after Horizon and saving the workers. My paragon bar was just barely past the first line. This was done yesterday.

 

As far as what missions to do after Horizon. Its up to the player and what he/she wants to for the playthrough. If you want to recruit everyone, I would do Miranda's and Jack's loyalty mission first. Recruit Samara and Thane. Head to Tuchanka to do Mordin's and Grunt's loyalty mission. Yeah I know. Only 5 missions can be done before the Collector ship mission. Not this time. Do Grunts loyalty mission first. Head back to the shuttle and choose another squadmate. Pick Mordin. Go back and complete his loyalty mission.

 

After Collector ship, recuit Tali. Complete all loyalty missions that are left and any other missions you want to complete. Do not complete Tali's loyalty mission.

 

Go get IFF. Talk to the geth. Complete Legion's loyalty mission and then take it on Tali's loyalty mission. Now go through the Omega 4 relay.

Yes I intend to recruit everyone and do everyone's loyalty mission.  So after IFF I can do Legion and Tali's loyalty mission?  I have heard that it results in some interesting dialogue.  I want to save the entire crew once they are taken so, as I understand it, if I want to do that I can't do Tali when you suggest.

 

Also for the 5 mission/assignments to trigger the Collector ship, do the assignments on Illium count?  If I want to up grade the damage protection modules as suggested above I will need to return to the Citadel.  Would this count?  I have all the DLCs so at this point I have 6 squad members.  I did recruit Grunt.
