Me too. My dad also works for Nintendo. He sent me this little gem that was cut content from Twilight Princess. Enjoy.
Do you have that video with sound? May you link it to me, it would advance the culture.

You are single-handledly going to inspire EA/BW to start charging microtransactions for name changes.

I would, but Miyamoto-sensei would banish me from Nintendo and force me to commit seppuku while wearing a Mario costume in front of the entire company.
Yep. The only engine to really blow me away by having really small load screens, if any at all, was RED Engine 3 for TW3. I don't know how CDPR does it, but TW3 is a technical masterpiece.
For Frostbite 3, graphical fidelity comes at a price, largely loading assets and how long it takes. If MEA comes anywhere close to being as pretty as the in-game trailer they released last year at E3, that sucker is going to have big load screens. Unless BioWare just heavily overhauled the engine with the help of DICE to change how assets are loaded, I'm not expecting fast load screens.
But TW3 had average loading times tbh on pc. Loading a saved game seemed to take the same time as any other game! Also going from Novigrad to Skellige? Loading screen... Entering a portal? Loading screen... And these weren't all super short either. I did play this on pc so perhaps it's different on consoles.
On a serious note... Is a standard load screen, like the million that are in DAI (which we are most likely getting), really that much better than an elevator ride? I'm not even sure why people complained about the elevator load screen. Better than looking at a progress bar.
Yes. Because, like those dumb ME2 movies, Bioware managed to come up with a load screen that is not seemingly tied to the actual performance of the PC. The DA:I load screens last, maybe, 5 seconds. But the elevator (and ME2 movies), like that stupid narration in TW3, actually seem to have an internal runtime that makes me wait out the whole loading period animation.

They will have to meet me 1v1 in thunderdome first

That's definitely your PC. I have TW3 on PC and my load times are SUPER FAST! Loading a saved game takes at most five seconds. There are no load screens otherwise, unless you are using a quick travel point or are going to a different continent, which might take 10 seconds at most (because of the story narration). By far, TW3 has the fastest loading screens I've ever seen in a game so graphically intensive and massive in terms of scale.

My DAI load screens weren't five seconds. On the contrary, they were 10 if not longer. All Frostbite 3 games have super long loading screens. Star Wars Battlefront is probably the best about being efficient, but DAI was not fast by any means for me. I also have a high-end gaming PC, so hardware certainly wasn't the issue.

I prefer Mortal Kombat. Their battles are so elegant and beautiful, yet satisfying...

No. My PC is incredibly powerful. You seem not to understand how the TW3 load screen worked. They may have since changed it, but on release, the narration by Dandelion was not a load screen alone - it was an actual animation that had a set runtime. The narration was longer than 10 seconds. This is exactly how the ME2 load screens worked: they were a video, not an actual load screen. I think this must be what they did with ME1 as well.
If DA:I takes more than a few seconds, then you're either not using an SSD or there's a hardware issue. I can't comment on Battlefront as that's not a game I have, or any other FB3 game as I've played none.
But this is all fluff. You asked why the elevators are bad. I told you why: they were an animation, not a load screen. An animation divorces the loading time from the actual speed of the PC. That's dumb design.

I wouldn't put that on the existence of an animation, I would put that on the implementation of that particular process that is loading the resources. It is possible to have an animation dependant on loading time of the machine(Dragonball Z Budokai has done it.)

I don't know bud. My load screens were always fast in TW3, even at launch. I pre-ordered that games months in advance on GOG. If my load screens were fast, and yours weren't, I'm pretty sure it's a hardware issue on your part.
I don't use an SSD because I've never needed one. Frostbite 3 games, in particular, are always super slow if you don't use one. My computer loads any other games just fine. Dragon Age Inquisition was by far the worst though. Star Wars Battlefront isn't too bad.
I'll still take an elevator animation over a progress bar any day. The elevators honestly weren't even that long in ME1. People just love to whine.

Very, very different. Generally loading is fine on PS4 but if you die or load a save it takes a long-ass time, and often when you're fast-traveling to another region you get extra recaps from old Dandelion.

Weird because for me the saves take about 20 seconds at least to load while the quick travel and continent changes take around the same time as yours. And my pc is pretty good spec and no potato! Maybe it's because I tend to run my browser with a million tabs open in the background as well as some other apps etc.
Edit : Oh and I do have an ssd as well.

I see, yes those load times are pretty short on pc. I can relate though, Mass effect 2 and 3 on ps3 had some truly terrible load times!

I can pretty much guarantee you that is your issue. Whenever I game, I never have any other programs or processes running, unless it's required.

Speaking of "...how this is gonna sound"
Need for Speed with its Frostbite 3 engine failed to get stellar reviews on both next gen platforms (XB1 and PS4).
The PC version however, may save it with its 4K/UHD textures... BUT... the system specs are hefty for the recommended specs if you want 60FPS @ 1080 and high resolution for the eye-candy.
They are:
Win 7, 64bit
30GB free on hard drive
Core i5-4690 CPU or similar CPU with four threads,
8GB of RAM and
Nvidia GTX 970 4GB or AMD R9 290 4GB graphics card.
Min Specs are:
Win 7, 64bit
30GB free on hard drive
Intel Core i3-4130 or equivalent CPU with four threads,
6GB of RAM and
Nvidia GTX 750 Ti 2GB or AMD HD 7850 2GB graphics card.
Unfortunately this nets you 30FPS at 720p resolution
What has this got to do with ME:A you ask?
If Need for Speed, coming out around March 2016, uses the FB 3 engine, then I bet you dollars to donuts that ME:A coming out late 2016 or early 2017 will also use the FB 3 engine. Add the fact that BIO has flogged the eye-candy goodness generated by the EA propriety engine for ME:A guess what the specs will be?
My rig (see signature) is below the min specs for the graphics card that I anticipate is required for the game. I also fear, NO MODS!!

Looks like it is indeed the bargain bin for me.

<long post>
Every non-sports game under EA is going to use Frostbite 3, so of course MEA will use it. BioWare stated a long time ago they will be exclusively using Frostbite 3 indefinitely. That being said, the version of Frostbite 3 MEA will use is not the same one NFS uses. One is a racing game. The other is an open world RPG. The only similarities is they have the same foundation, but clearly both games are going to be pulling on different systems and features. While you can make a general estimated guess that you'll probably get similar performance with MEA, we won't know until the game is released.
Bear in mind Battlefield 4 was the first game to use Frostbite 3, and the system requirements for it are much less than the recently released Star Wars Battlefront. Keep in mind they are both using the same engine. Without a doubt, I can tell you MEA is going to be hardware-intensive. I don't know ultimately where the dice is going to land, but it will probably have similar specs to Star Wars Battlefront, if not higher.

The elevators were also there to physically move us from one location to another. Those elevators were actually travelling from place to place.
And I liked. They made the transitions seamless, which was nice. Not even TES does that anymore.

I liked the elevators as well. They were actually... realistic. I really don't know why people continue to complain about them. There weren't that many in the game to start and you really weren't in them long either.

I demand more leaks. MORE.
If the structure were bigger, the elevators could move faster. Since the game doesn't need to render the moving environment outside the elevator, there's no limit to how fast the elevators could go.But of course, this only works because the ME1 Citadel is quite small. Or rather, it's a big place but everything we ever visit is crammed into a tiny corner of the structure.

The biggest problem with them is that there was nothing to do during those elevator rides, and the banter/news reports quickly got repetitive.
Compare to that say, the opening minutes of Half-Life where you're stuck on the tram. You still can't really do anything, but there's always new scenery to be looking at as it takes you on a sort of tour of the facility you'll be spending the bulk of the game running around in.
It lasts 10 times longer than any elevator in Mass Effect but feels far less boring because as a player, I have something to do beyond simply wait for it to be over.

Well. Realistically speaking... you'd have to wait to travel from one location to the next in the Citadel. Yeah, load screens are just instant on ME3 using the elevator, but it breaks the immersion. Sometimes convenience isn't necessarily always better for the experience.
Well, perhaps BioWare should have added some holo vids or advertisements, like they did in ME2 and ME3, to provide more variety and give people a bit more to do while waiting. I mean, elevator rides aren't really meant to be fun. I use an elevator everyday and it's not the most glorious thing in the world to use, to be frank.

The reality is that realism means very little to game development if it's going to be a boring mechanic, especially in a game like Mass Effect which isn't trying to be hyper realistic.
There's a reason games don't force us to sleep for 8 hours a night and shower, brush our teeth, go to the bathroom, have breakfast, etc.

It's funny you say that, because Fallout 4's new survivor mode is actually going to force a lot of those more mundane tasks on players, such as eating, sleeping, etc.
I'm not suggesting Mass Effect needs to be hyper realistic. I just find it odd how a short elevator ride was so horrible and offensive to so many gamers. I still don't understand what all the fuss was about.

and even that mechanic wont be realistic, as you just instantly absorb the food/water =P
The problem is the short elevator ride was boring. Gamers hate being bored while playing games they're playing to have fun.
