Interesting info. :) Thanks for sharing.

No loading screens sound great, although I'm not sure if it can be done without having stuff like textures not loading fast enough. But we'll see, I guess.. I'm cool with a loading screen every now and then.. just not that often & not too long (DA:I's loading screens take too long imo).. or at least let us do something interesting during those screens.

Even though we have no way to verify this information at this time, it still gets more even more excited for MEA.

This could be a sly marketing test to judge reactions.

About the synthetic:
That's one potential LI out the window. Could be that IDI replicated itself and is part of the ARK crew. Be as it may, I personally don't like the idea of an intelligent synthetic in Andromeda.... new story, new chars remember?

About AI Combat:
Better AI combat control for our mates is goodness.

my friend referred to the Synthetic as a HE....just saying.

I believe it. My husband's cousin is a game tester and at Thanksgiving he told me he played one level of Andromeda for a half hour. All he would tell me is that the Mako drops from the spaceship to the planet while you're in it.

Improved Squad AI sounds great. Squad AI has never been a strong point in the ME series, it's good to hear that the AI has been improved, if true.

2: There is a Synthetic in the squad...it is not a geth

Actually has me worried somehow ... but I am in the camp "no ties to ME-trilogy - have Andromeda started before ME3 ended" - and this doesn't really fly well with my hopes I have to say...

of course could mean anything...but I get nightmares of the green ending being somehow/partly true? *shudders* just my paranoia for sure, but would be almost a reason not to buy the game (yeah I am a fan as in fanatic(ally unreasonable) ^^)

Oh, and I also never liked synths, especially the lady-synth in ME3 ... but  I am also not much of a Krogan-fan...hm...just give me an all-human-squad I guess! But Ashley was such a pain...especially with her prejudices against non-humans...and Miranda and Jacob were so bland...wait, what am I writing here, it's all contradicting and has nothing to do with the OP...I...just keep typing a little more and than just sto

Really? So you have EVIDENCE to support your premiss that EA micromanages their developers, Bioware specifically? With all the people that have left bioware over the past 10 years I can remember zero tweets of EA is ruining Bioware by mircromanaging or EA micromanages us so I had to leave that environment, by these people who left bioware.

Perhaps I missed the tweets as I don't religiously follow developers. Can you show me ANY evidence for your position?

and no it ISN'T logical to assume EA is doing so, because it isn't logical to support a premiss with no evidence when it is possible to obtain evidence in support or against a given premiss.

ME1 and ME2 writer Chris L'Etoile (aka stormwaltz) on Corporate art decisions (and N7 branding) trumping his design for legion:

"The truth is that the armor was a decision imposed on me. The concept artists decided to put a hole in the geth. Then, in a moment of whimsy, they spackled a bit Shep's armor over it. Someone who got paid a lot more money than me decided that was really cool and insisted on the hole and the N7 armor. So I said, okay, Legion gets taken down when you meet it, so it can get the hole then, and weld on a piece of Shep's armor when it reactivates to represent its integration with Normandy's crew (when integrating aboard a new geth ship, it would swap memories and runtimes, not physical hardware).

But Higher Paid decided that it would be cooler if Legion were obsessed with Shepard, and stalking him. That didn't make any sense to me -- to be obsessed, you have to have emotions. The geth's whole schtick is -- to paraphrase Legion -- "We do not experience (emotions), but we understand how (they) affect you." All I could do was downplay the required "obsession" as much as I could
."

You can find that and more here:

or here:

This is one example of many I could provide.  There's a lot out there.

He used to but once he ran out of ideas he decided it was better to become a spokesperson for a Biotiball team.

I'm sooo disappointed if Bio implements this crap mechanic.  Dropping an armoured vehicle with no flying capability from space and it doesn't go Splat! once it hits firma terra? Its aerodynamics is like a  bloody brick. No sci-fi writer that I ever read and I read 3,000 + books ever... ever wrote nonsense like this.

Give me a break Bio... talk about lazy and quick fix game design.   All that awesomeness Bio is talking about is starting to be like DA:I marketing spin.

Bah.. and that's how I feel.

Someone working in the industry would have to be colossally stupid to publicly make a statement like that. It would be suicide for their career.

Ah, now things are coming together. A Soyuz capsule takes almost 25 minutes from atmospheric re-entry to landing. If we experience something similar in the MAKO in real time they'll have plenty of time to stream in the planet surface. No wonder they don't need loading screens anymore. I just wonder what the squad mate banter will be like. :)

But one of my buddies managed to play some 25 odd minutes of Andromeda. Do not ask me how he did as telling how would cost someone his or her job.

The vertical slice he played was small and he is soooo not as obsessive as we are (tho he is a fan) but he let me know a couple of things.

1: there us a Krogan character in the squad so far called Drake.

2: There is a Synthetic in the squad...it is not a geth

3: A big thing that was a focus of this was showcasing the "no loading times". Apparently there are none. From flying through the "map" to picking a planet to landing with the squad. Problem my friend was made aware that thanks to this approach graphical features were loading after game play begun. He did not care much....but the person making him aware was not happy.

4: Squad AI was better than he remembered from ME3. He pointed out the companions were aggressive and actively using shields when the team was taking damage and whatnit but he made it sound like they were more like the Geth deployable shields from the early ME1. Might have been me interpreting wrong tho. Game play was described as "familiar" and "refined" from ME3.

Sorry, not much in the way of concrete info but eh, thought I'd share

I remember that when I started my "career" as a game tester, the first thing my new coworkers told me was to remember to not to leak any information. Financial consequences are scarry enough that I find it hard to believe that someone actually decided to share this info. Not sure who is more stupid, that friend for sharing details or you for writing it on Bio forum.

*rolleyes*

Mass Effect isn't exactly the hardest of hard sci-fi - if I want detailed physics and mathematical calculations, I'll go read some Neal Stephenson or <insert name of any sci-fi author who likes throwing a lot of numbers around whose novels I've read - the list is long>, so big freaking deal if the Mako drops from the sky/high altitude/sub-orbital space/whatever.

They did it in ME1, so why are you suddenly accusing BioWare of being lazy in how the Mako is dropped and lands? Because it's a popular thing to do because you don't like the recent direction of their games? Let me point out three things here that I feel render your complaint itself lazy (because you didn't do due diligence as far as I'm concerned):

  1. The Mako has jumpjets.
  2. Modern VTOL aircraft such as the Osprey or the Harrier are perfectly capable of VERTICALLY TAKING OFF AND LANDING using their jets.
  3. The Mako is not intended to zip through the sky like an Osprey or a Harrier, but presumably its futuristic jumpjets are actually powerful enough to bring it to a safe landing (even if you don't take into account its shields, which may or may not provide some kind of kinetic dampening or other benefits).

See, that's why I appreciated my husband's cousin just giving one, basic, not spoiler'ed fact. I didn't even ask for it. He just said he thought it was cool and that he couldn't say more.

However, the info that the OP posted was stuff we kind of already knew. Everyone seems to know about Drack. He was in the teaser trailer.

The only "new" info is the synthetic.

A synth, eh? Hm. You know, I was secretly hoping Glyph would show up some way in ME:A. And perhaps try to stop the fighting by enticing our enemies to join us with the knowledge of our great benefits package.

enemy: "Oh, yeah, but does that include both dental and eye exams!?!"

glyph-y: "Yes."

enemy: *turns and starts shooting at former comrades. A lucrative benefits package goes a long way.

Uh, loading screen thing..um, yeah cool. awesome.

Witty banter, please.

that is because that vertical slice has been around for a little while. Also, the person making this possible (not my friend) is not exactly a genius or just very generous since he hooked up my buddy with already a handful of pressure release copies of games when he could.
