Do I believe the source? Well he WAS inexplicably hooked up with free copies of pre-release games at least a handful of times recently thanks to his "benefactor" so I have no reason to disbelieve right now.

People screaming about rumors not being true and it all could be lies.  Then almost everything turned out to be accurate.

 

I mean, as much as BW-EA wants to keep things under wraps, these aren't state secrets, and this is still a product they inevitably want to sell to the general public.  And this isn't a court of law.  It's a place for conversation.  Nothing more.

As it stands right now, I've got a mound of salt over my shoulder from all the grains I've taken.  Now, I just take everything with a grain of salt even if a developer is up onstage saying, "LOOK!  IT REALLY IS IN THE GAME!"  Ala Chris Roberts and Star Citizen.  I will never believe it until I can get my hands on it and play it.

Although skeptical, I actually welcomed the news of the OPs post.

Why? Because I honestly (not even being sarcastic here) was expecting him to say something like "my friend played the game and confirmed that Cerberus plays a major role".

But one of my buddies managed to play some 25 odd minutes of Andromeda. Do not ask me how he did as telling how would cost someone his or her job.

The vertical slice he played was small and he is soooo not as obsessive as we are (tho he is a fan) but he let me know a couple of things.

1: there us a Krogan character in the squad so far called Drake.

2: There is a Synthetic in the squad...it is not a geth

3: A big thing that was a focus of this was showcasing the "no loading times". Apparently there are none. From flying through the "map" to picking a planet to landing with the squad. Problem my friend was made aware that thanks to this approach graphical features were loading after game play begun. He did not care much....but the person making him aware was not happy.

4: Squad AI was better than he remembered from ME3. He pointed out the companions were aggressive and actively using shields when the team was taking damage and whatnit but he made it sound like they were more like the Geth deployable shields from the early ME1. Might have been me interpreting wrong tho. Game play was described as "familiar" and "refined" from ME3.

Sorry, not much in the way of concrete info but eh, thought I'd share

If the fastest SSDs in the world cannot eliminate load times completely then how on earth is a 5400rpm hard drive going to do it? 4 is incredibly vague.

I guess I'm glad they aren't spoiling anything but it seems every time there is anything about this game it's always just about the action gameplay and I honestly don't care that much about it besides I know I'll have fun I guess.

It is possible. Don't assume he meant there was no loading screen ever. Like every game it probably loads when you select "load game" (duh) but like Arkham Knight and alike, as soon as the game map has loaded, everything is streamed on the fly and there'll be no loading screens as transitions because the game can (or should be able) to render it all in time. Now, unsurprisingly Bioware is having trouble with this feature. We'll probably get texture-streaming issues like ME1 on Xbox 360 all over again.

 

But don't say it's impossible. Having played Arkham Knight and Witcher 3 I don't think this is a stretch at all, especially not when going to a ship to game map is an opportunity to mask any ugly pre-rendering stuff.

it is possible such loading times are masked. See he said something that I will ask him to clarify likely tomorrow.....he said "you can travel (he said fly around, he did mean travel not fly sim style) in real time or you can stop midway and go around the ship" which I am assuming means as you trave the destination is loaded in the background...could be wrong tho

We knew that already aswell (The flying bit) 

 

It was mentioned back in november. Masked loading screens aren't anything new though, they are pretty normal in modern games.
