A synth, eh? Hm. You know, I was secretly hoping Glyph would show up some way in ME:A. And perhaps try to stop the fighting by enticing our enemies to join us with the knowledge of our great benefits package.

enemy: "Oh, yeah, but does that include both dental and eye exams!?!"

glyph-y: "Yes."

enemy: *turns and starts shooting at former comrades. A lucrative benefits package goes a long way.

Uh, loading screen thing..um, yeah cool. awesome.

Witty banter, please.

The Synthetic is Glyph, in my view, until further information.

It is on.

Believable

Drack Krogan

Cora Blonde

Synthetic

Drack - Male - Krogan

Cora - Female - Human - Biotic

Synthetic? - 'Male'?

Guessing for fun:

-Drack may be something like a Krogan Warlord. We got a Battlemaster with Wrex, and a 'Beserker' (aka especially badass aggressive soldier) with Grunt, so I can see us having a more upper level Krogan that just doesn't have biotics. In terms of combat role, like James but with Krogan-ness.

-Cora has a biotic shield/bubble. This seems to imply a sort of Sentinel or Adept sort of role. It would be interesting if she's the 'Soldier' though, just with more hybridy abilities. Though it would also be interesting if we get a pure Adept (aka not Jack, who had a Combaty element) Human, showing us how biotics has evolved.

-I just enjoyed saying the Synthetic is Glyph. I want it to be so. But in any case, it sounds so far that it is more 'male'? So we had the sneaky EDI and the sniping Legion, how about something more aggressive? A Juggernaut that isn't a Juggernaut?

One big thing to note now is that if a Krogan and Synthetic are involved, then the writers didn't entirely run away from ME3. They either sidestepped it with a strategy that may or may not work, or they're tackling the matter head on and may surprise us with how. But in either case, having a Krogan and Synthetic is a statement that our ME3 decision did not necessarily erase either from having strong placements in a Mass Effect story, at least for one more game.

Amused declaration: A synthetic squadmate along the vein of HK-47 would be a welcome, if improbable, addition. Addendum: It would also be objectively the best LI even though it would be incapable of reciprocation.

HK is capable of reciprocation, dates would just have to involve tests of marksmanship involving an Aratech sniper rifle with a tri-light scope and targets a 120km away.

So there's a synth in ME:A and a male synth, to boot.

It's Nick Valentine, isn't it? I can feel it.

Maybe what the friend played was the E3/ EA Play demo, if Bioware are preparing one. 25 minutes seems like a decent play time for a demo. I have read that it takes a while to prepare demos for games and maybe what he played will be our first taste of the new Mass Effect. If its true I mean.

The name Drack makes me think of a younger baby Krogan (older than Grunt though).  Is there an age requirement to be a Warlord?

It would be amazing to witness a 'kid' (in Kro years) Krogan running around with a big azz hammer who serves as our super tank soldier.  He's killing things with his rifle when he isn't busy smashing everything up with the hammer.

Cora can be our level headed designated human sidekick.  Giving her the full blown Adept role works for me.  But she should be able to use assault rifles and SMGs like Samara

We really don't need an Asari squaddie if there's to be a pure Adept.  Their people aren't built for the front lines as Liara's mama will tell you.

'Synthy' should be a close quarters ninja infiltrator.  Imagine a bad azz killer that can quickly cut distance to fire a shotgun.  A machine can be programmed to be alert at all times, which should make them better for sneaking roles behind enemy lines such as infiltration.  There are no natural lapses in focus unlike what you find with organics.

I like Ryder as a Vanguard.  It fits the character's job in the story.  Drack shouldn't be limited to a shotgun and rifle just because he's Krogan.

In this game squaddies should be able to equip any firearm category.

Hoping for a female Turian that's a mix of biotics and tech.

Last but not least a Drell Engineer that specializes in rigging the battlefield with traps and loves sniper rifles.

Let the remaining two squadmates be members of the new races.

My interpretation of the events in ME3 is even if you screwed the Krogans and destroyed syntheitcs they could still exist.

Genophage didn't directly kill any living Krogans.  If Shep destroyed machines, we could still make new ones in the future.  Iirc the reapers even threatened that the vicious cycle will stil continue under destroy option as future organics will inevitably create synthetics

Drack - Male - Krogan

Cora - Female - Human - Biotic

I hope Drack isn't a warlord, seems like that role would be too elevated for slumming it with the pathfinders.

Prefer to see him being something of an outcast if anything. A krogan engineer say.

I'll be happy if there are AI/synthetics present. Hopefully if they left before the ME3 ending they wouldn't have any reason to take the brat's nonsense to heart.

A synthetic... I'm seriously not fond of the idea... one slot lost for a new alien on the team ... I've read we have 7 squadmates (can't remember where.... was it on reddit last years ? ) so :

- A krogan (great!)

- A synthetic

- obvioulsy 2 humans (one man and one woman... like Kaidan and Ashley... I'm sure they can't skip that, romances obliged, but I wish they would)

3 slots left only. No way. I want much more playable characters, like ME2 !

Well, anyways, for now nothing's official so wait and see !

I'd be surprised if there wasn't an asari squadmate, though personally I'd prefer her to be a non-squad crewmember for a change. Perhaps the pilot, doctor, mission control...? As seen with Joker/Sam/Steve and the DAI advisors, they can still be important characters. And a potential LI.

If there is one on the squad, I'd quite like her to have a focus on general combat rather than pure biotics. Maybe a sentinel, soldier or vanguard? A matron commando, who's a loudmouth and a little rough around the edges. Like Aethyta, but younger. Tbh it would be interesting if her biotics were on the weaker side (for an asari) and she compensates by being superior in every other way in combat.

I forgot the asari on my list ... ! I totally support this point of view. A non-squad member would be just fine.

I'm assuming there will be an asari on the squad. Hopefully a commando similar to Shiala, who would be very different personality wise to Liara.

Why am I not surprised?

Because console is the default platform perhaps?

Principally because it is a known entity in two flavours (XB/PS) not the endless variant PC builds.
And also because console capability will be the limiting factor across all platforms (aside of some graphical souping up).

I sense some disappointment/cynicism in your tone, but surely from a development perspective console will always be where you start.

Even though we have no way to verify this information at this time, it still gets more even more excited for MEA.

                                                                                       <<<<<<<<<<(0)>>>>>>>>>>

Excited about a brick (Macko) landing on Terre Firma from a spaceship?

The one responsible for approval of this abomination must have an exceptional big azz to cushion the sudden release of kinetic energy upon landing onto an unmovable object.

A Krogan outcast engineer mechanic could fit in perfectly plot wise.  He has little chance for glory among his race, so he tags along for a foreign race's expedition.

Have you heard any rumors about a male human squaddie?  1 human buddy is enough imo.

My preference is also for an Asari to be a non-squad crew member.  A MILF nurse (in keeping up with tradition because Bioware likes em mature) or Yeoman that the main char can bang.

Which is why I took a screencap of the OP, so I can return to see if any of it was true when the game  releases.  No point in worrying about it now.
