I modded until the beta program and then stopped modding because I didn't want to confuse myself if there was a problem.
I'm on DOA Awakening now and making my way back to one last DAI and I'm going to use this thread to find the best mods for me. ![]()
Any mods really good and worth it to get on first playthrough?

yeah I was test driving a couple of mods last night as well for a possible future playthrough and it worked out pretty well for me actually too. Unfortunately I didn't take any screenshots of the female I created but I was aiming for Lara Croft as a mage type character and I think I got pretty damn close. So was thinking of going with it for my female mage I was planning to play after my Qunari run.

Right, I forgot about that one. No point adding all these great armor/outfit improvement mods, only to have them muddied up. That's a must have mod.
There's dirt build up?

Nobody mentioning "No waiting time for war table missions" ?
Is everybody in here like.. super patient and likes to wait 3 hours or more for every single mission or 10 hours for certain missions? ![]()
I think that's one of the most useful mods in DAI...
Oh and the "Yes we know about Mythal" if your Inquisitor is an elf.

Yes, but only if your Graphics settings are set high enough. It's most obvious in the cutscene right after the Inquisitor finds the camp after Haven is destroyed, on the cot talking to Mother Giselle. Also the cutscene leading up to the discovery of Skyhold. But it's applied pretty much anytime you go outside of Haven/Skyhold and do stuff.
Here's a shot that shows the dirt build-up. That's all supposed to be nugskin pink.

From the mod itself:

Meh, I don't wait. I'm forced to go to the War Table anyway to do stuff. When I am, I start missions up. When I am forced back to the WT the next time, I pick up the rewards or progress the chain or start new missions. But if they don't get done or don't get started, I don't care.Is everybody in here like.. super patient and likes to wait 3 hours or more for every single mission or 10 hours for certain missions?

exactly same with me most of the time i just worry about it when I go back to base if i'm out in the field I just get on with the task at hand. Whilst I agree it would be better on a mission counter rather than a clock one it's never bothered me too much

I hate waiting so I'll plan some time where I do as many WT things as are available and I'll set my computer clock forward and get them all done that way, instantly. I don't like finding out I messed up and killed a bunch a people the next day, after I've advanced too far to go back and redo a WT mission. But with my next play through, since I'll be modding, I'll get the WT mod along with a bunch of others.
My graphics are good so I probably won't get many or any graphic mods.

TBH sweetfx and reshade would always help with the graphic in DAI no matter your current game graphics are good or not, i am playing the game on ultra settings ( set the resolution scale to 2 via Cinematic tool for more details if i want to take screenshots ) so the graphics are at the best the game could offer , but i couldnt go back to the vanilla color once i tried the sweetfx/reshade, the game just looks so much better with sweetfx/reshade ( any games thb) ![]()
But it depends people's personal preference i suppose ![]()

It depends on what your needs are and each player should decide what they need.
Silent Chanters and some other dialogues is also pretty great.

I don't like to use mods that alter the game in this way. To your question about patience, I will prioritize WT operations based on what I'm doing. If I'm just wandering around Skyhold, crafting, talking to people, etc, I will do 10-15 minute operations. I will set 30+ minute operations before I head out to a map to quest/explore, and I try to set longer operations as the last thing before I quit a play session so they will be complete the next time I load up the game. I also clear the board before each major story mission, and I do have everything complete before I head to the Corypheus fight.

That you can mess up is one of my favorite features. I pick which adviser to send based on my Inquisitor's personality and take whatever comes from that. Much more fun for me personally.

yeah exactly I killed Clan Lavellan earlier on in my current Topal run because I chose the wrong advisor. Unintentionally of course but that was moer because I forgot which one I was supposed to pick. As I picked Cullen when I should have assigned the task to Leliana. I've managed to keep Lavellan alive in previous ones though I just ended up dropping the ball on that one.

Do any of the appearance mods work with the Mirror of Transformation? None of the ones I've tried let me fiddle with appearance afterwards.

some mods won't show up in the mirror but when you leave the BE they will work. You need to select the correct slot when you are using the mirror of the hair/complexion it is going to replace.

You usually have to disable complexion mods before entering, and hairstyles won't show up in the mirror but will show up when you leave BE. Then just re-enable your complexion mod afterward and you should be good to go. ![]()

That was really annoying for taking screenshots in that sequence. The worst part is, you just trudged through snow, not dirt. Same thing happens on stone floors ![]()

No one mentioned ConversationCameraZoom? http://www.nexusmods...tion/mods/313/?
Pretty self-explanatory, it zooms in when you're in dialogue so you can actually see the person you're speaking to.
I would say it is my one essential mod, possibly even more essential then PJ retextures.

That is high praise, since PJ retextures is must-have for me. I'd give up all the costume and appearance mods to keep PJ retex. I'll have to check it out.

I can't really play without War table-more materials. It's so handy to get about 30 Elfroot or w/e without having to go around and pick it yourself because let's face it the Inquisitor has more important things to do. Also I would recommend a mod that replaces the prologue outfit.

I gave it a try. Sadly, it doesn't work well with a dwarf Inquisitor, unless she's talking to another dwarf. Otherwise, you are staring at a human's belly button. No one mentioned ConversationCameraZoom? http://www.nexusmods...tion/mods/313/?

I was thinking about using mods for the first time in my next PT (aside from bugfixes that is) but I couldn't find a single hair mod like this ![]()
