Goddamn, I love the gifs you guys put up around here. This one is hilarious. But Quarians are heroic! They've endured for so long, seen the immune systems of their species deteriorate, found ways to compensate and still be effective in firefights.
Exactly this. When I first heared about that ME3 will have multiplayer, it sounded extremely interesting. Then I thought about possibility of roleplaying another race like Krogan, Asari or Quarian. Then I found out it will actually be possible to do that. It was instant preorder after that, I had to play this mp on day one! And I did. I didn't start singe player campaign until one month later, so I had no idea what the campaign and the enemies were about; this way the tempo and fear factor of enemies like Banshees first fighting against in mp was even higher. Was completely hooked from day one, it was the only game I played that whole year.
Mass Effect has this rich lore of races and the way they captured this in the multiplayer is done very well. Without the little touches of polish like Quarian bum-bum animation and Krogan laughing when they headbutt things, this wouldn't be what it is. Far from it. These additions add everything to the game, it really makes it feel like you're playing one of them. It's more than just a class. The MP in DA:I couldn't come close to this perfection with the races and classes in DA lore just don't feel as compelling as compared to the world of ME. It's just overall masterfully designed and never gets old to play.
I actually didn't play the MP until 2-3 months after I finished my first playthrough (got the Trilogy pack). I didn't think it would be deep enough. And now, three years later, it is be the reason ME3 is one of my most played games ever. What you say about DA: I's MP is probably one of the reasons why it didn't gain a lot of traction. But it raises questions about ME: A's MP. If they only have the existing races making an appearance, will it have the staying power? Equally, if new races are added to the MP without any background being built up over a couple of games, will they be as loved?
I love the Citadel DLC, including the Armax Arena, but the MP is richer.
I just finished the DLC last night, so I only have a couple of Bronze matches under my belt. Although some of the mods and backgrounds (Turian stadium) sound good.
The gameplay in the MP is pretty average, so for me the ME lore and turians are the #1 draw to MP. I wouldn't waste my time with it if turians weren't in the game, because turians are great. The first thing I do on any account I have in the MP is the complete 200 waves with both of the glorious fat no-dodge turians, but before MP even existed I was still really into turians and all the lore surrounding turians, because turians are wonderful. So of course MP being released and containing playable turians was a dream come true and something I'd been hoping for (playing as a turian) ever since I first saw turians in ME1.
I didn't spend much time in the combat simulator, basically just did what I needed for the cheevos and moved on. The Citadel DLC does have the wonderful tech armor turian in that arcade, though, and that turian con-artist in the casino was fabulous. Turian NPCs are best NPCs. I can only hope that Andromeda adds to the lore and has turians in both singleplayer and multiplayer.
Wow, I just realized I'm really obsessed with turians!
What? Don't you like the Armier Legion Turians? Their heavy melee is one of the coolest things in the entire game, so much so, that it makes an appearance in ME: A's trailer.
I've never been able to work with the Cabal Vanguard though.
