imo Vanguard would be most fitting. Ryder is a pathfinder and aggressively charging forward to colonize new planet.

Yeah, I don't think there should be a default class for marketing.
Now for me, Infiltrator would work well as a Pathfinder. That's what I'm probably going to start with.

I could see myself playing as an adept on the 2nd or so playthrough

I feel like we could probably find a way to reason that any class is somehow the right class for a pathfinder if we tried.
Assuming the classes will be what they were in the trilogy, I'm probably going to play adept for my default this time around.

To colonize, you must infiltrate...so the best class is Infiltrator.

The N7 guy was directly running towards enemies in the trailer. No cloak. No charge.
Makes me think soldier. But at the same time N7 was running forward with a pistol instead of an assault rifle.
IDK anymore

The N7 guy in the trailer is not the protagonist. Bioware has confirmed this.

How do you imagine that? Just armored dude talking to stuff? Because if you want to show combat you'll have to make some (by 'some' I mean soldier, because it fits shooter audience best) class 'default'.

So if the mook in the trailer isn't the protag, what is the trailer even about? Kinda seems like they just threw something random together to get some oohs and ahs and keep people from forgetting a new ME game is supposedly coming.
Oh, nice avatar btw. Good show and manga series.

There is no such thing as "default class" in the trilogy(correct me if I'm wrong), we get to choose Shepard's pre-service history, psychological profile and class though. So, I don't expect it from ME:A. Well, if that's going to happen then I prefer my character/protagonist to be a soldier... techs, biotics & etc., to be my crew members. I want to be that heavy guy for my party.

I would like to there to be no default class but a choice, choosing at the start a main skill tree and secondary one, for example combat+tech/biotics, or biotics+tech, or tech/biotic + combat, and depending on which is the secondary skill line you get less abilities from that.

Infiltrator is the best class to play on insanity in ME 2 & 3.I've played with all classes, but infiltrator beats all.If ME:A has Infiltrator class, this will be my first class to play the game.
Infiltrator=killing machine.

I just HOPE that there isn't any default soldier cutscenes. Where when you're a biotic or a techy and you try to open a glass window with your gun or get overwhelmed by Vasir when she uses her biotics and you don't use yours.
Man, I can go on all day about those illogical cutscenes that contradict with your damn class.

This. In the mass effect trilogy my favorite class to play for game play was adept, but for story purposes soldier always seemed the best fit. Hopefully there will be no default this time.

I actually found Soldier to be the most cakewalkingly easy... especially once they put the abominable Cerberus Harrier into ME3 SP.

I bet soldier, since that has been default pretty much always.

I hate this outfit.
(Throw it out the airlock commander.)
I seriously want it to die
(The airlock, commander.)
And they gave the Krogan the Genophage? Cut the balls off of whatever species came up with that thing!
