I've been playing Mass Effect games since the original released on Xbox 360. I've since played them on almost every major platform they've been released on (including purchasing all DLC for each system). I've finally settled into life as a PC gamer, however where possible I still prefer using a controller as that's what I grew up with and most comfortable with (not to mention my gaming PC is the living room HTPC).

Using the fine work of a few hard working members of the community I can now play the Mass Effect trilogy with a controller on my PC. In my opinion, given that the games were originally on consoles, it was a ridiculous move to remove controller support from the PC versions in the first place.

BioWare, please don't make the same mistake again. Include controller support in the PC version of Mass Effect: Andromeda so we at least have the choice to play with the interface we choose.

No worries. It most likely will support a controller, and if it will be and absolute trainwreck-of-a-PC-port as DAI was, it might be the only way to play it.

I still have some hope though, as ME2 & ME3 were great with KB&M.

I hope for a native ps4 controle support. Assassins creed unity did it.

I really don't get why people say it was a trainwreck of a port. I never had any problems with it and I prefer playing rpg's with lots of running around on controller because it feels more natural and since you don't need to aim much controller also lets you rest your hands.

As for original question, since MEA is built on the same engine as DAI then sure there probably is going to be controller support but I am still going to play MEA with M/KB because its a shooter and you need to aim.

I see myself getting in the same boat. Can't ever see myself getting used to kb+m. Windows 10 has native support for the Xbone controller doesn't it? I think games having native support should be standard.

I don't understand that either, it seems anymore that people will use the "its a port" for any game that isn't unique to the PC.  Even Mass Effect 2 was called a bad port and it had a completely different UI on the PC.  For me at least if a game is being developed on all platforms at the same time it is not a port, unlike games like Arkham Knight, Mass Effect 1, or Jade Empire where they had outside studios make the game work on the PC.  It would be nice to know why people keep calling games a bad port without giving any reasons.

I agree since they are using Frostbite and working with modules they developed for Inquisition I would guess there will be controller support for the PC.  I probably will be using M/KB as well unless I am using my television then I will use a controller since for me at least games work better that way.

I'm the opposite. I loathe controllers. When I had a 360, I even used a third-party adapter to let me use KB+M with it.

Honestly, after DA:I, I am actually hoping that the PC version at least has native KB/M support.

they essentially removed the old tactical combat control scheme that PC had and replaced it with more of an action oriented control scheme.. and with keyboard and mouse.. you had to continuously press a button if you wanted "auto-attack".  IMO, the controls technically worked with keyboard and mouse, but they were awkward at best.

also, nobody asked for the control scheme changed.. in fact, when DA2 released.. many fans were requesting that bioware return to the control scheme of DA1.  keep in mind, i disagreed with that, as i felt that was one of the things DA2 got right.  the combat felt faster and had more impact.. yet at the same time it still honored the baldur's gate style combat system, which Dragon Age was originally based off of.

that said, i did like the info that was presented in DA:I tactical mode.  i just felt that while the scheme technically worked with keyboard and mouse, it felt awkward at best.. and there was zero reason to change it in the first place.

To me at least those issues seem to be a design choice and not a problem with a port.  For me at least it would be a more accurate complaint to say "it was designed for a controller" then saying it was a bad port. Most of the time I didn't have any issues with a KB/M on the PC version of Inquisition unless I was using Tactical mode and then it was because they spread the key binds out drastically, but then that could because I played a mage.

The fact that every picture showing Bioware staff testing the game has shown them using xbox 360 controllers is enough to be very confident of controller support on PC.

And you couldn't rebind?

I'm not sure that "it was designed for a controller" really works. What's wrong with WASD movement? (Or whatever your preferred keybinds are,) DAI is just Skyrim with a different camera, as far as I can tell. People tell me it's worse because reasons, but I never actually understand the reasons. Possibly because I'm lousy enough at action game that I can't tell good implementations from bad ones.

I think wrdnshprd's "action oriented" works. However, note that you don't have to repeatedly press the attack key to attack; this is counterproductive for mages, and neutral for other classes.

Not exactly sure what you meaning with WSAD movement or Skyrim.  My only minor complaint is about accessing a couple of keys when you activate the tactical camera for the overhead view namely the Y, K, and L buttons to give party commands which after some experimentation bound elsewhere.

I never had a problem with any of wrdnshprd's points, but only that those problems were because of it being a bad port instead of being design choices.
