Forget Avina, use MIRA. Harbinger hits the call button and Ark MIRA answers.... you remember MIRA from Noveria right?

RIP Mira.  :crying:

How does it prove it? Unless the Reapers hit the call button and Ark Avina answers "Hello, yes this is Ark!" they don't know where the connection leads to, could be Omega, could be Los Angeles or anywhere else in the universe.

Quantum entanglement is when a PAIR of atoms are linked and share information. They come in two "flavours" one where the pairs are the exact same the other when the pairs are opposite. Note the KEY fraking feature they are a pair. you find one QEC you know there is another out there. PERIOD that is how they work.

Ever heard of indoctrination? Maybe not as it is an obscure feature of the ME trilogy... err wait.  Indoctrination is a well know common method of infiltration of facilities it is REASONABLE to assume that every facility will eventually be infiltrated by the reapers in a scenario where the reapers win the war. Which is the "given" that precipitated the need for the ark. And by "given" this doesn't mean it actually happen but the premiss that you assume in a contingency plan. The ark is a contingency in case other plans fail. It assumes a reaper victory, with the victory comes the harvest, with the harvest comes indoctrination, with indoctrination comes perfect spies able to talk to the fraking ark and mine it for information. The ark can't put in any safe guards to know if whom they are talking to isn't indoctrinated.

The irony is I stated this all in the fraking post you quoted but you seem to have failed to read past the first sentence.

One can argue that the Crucible was more important than the Ark.

Victory being more important than an escape strategy. A threat to the Reapers being more vulnerable and under need of secrecy. Yet, we keep seeing Hackett blabber at us throughout the 3rd game.

I get what you're saying because I thought of it when I made the thread, but it doesn't make any sense not to install a QEC.

Do you not understand the difference?

The Crucible secrecy is important only until it is deployed because its vulnerability is only acute before it is finished. Once it is finished it becomes a weapon to be deployed so its secrecy isn't important to its success once it is launched in an attack. Also the reapers know that each citadel race has military assets and bases so a QEC doesn't actually put in jeopardy the base that that crucible is being built as that isn't secret. The reapers know where the bases are they just don't have the resources to strike at every single base at once which is why the harvest takes centuries not years. If they know the crucible is being buit at X then yes that base will be attacked but the base's existence isn't a secret what they are building there is.

The ark's secrecy is important over its entire existence. If it becomes known after launch it is still vulnerable and secrecy is important to its success while being deployed. If the reapers find out it exists at anytime it is "near" the milky way the ark could be destroyed. A QEC makes it vulnerable to indoctrinated spies on the MW side. It makes ZERO sense to add a piece of equipment that adds nothing to improve your chances of success but adds significant danger to the mission that increases the chances of failure.

I don't like QEC. Instant comms shrink the setting, and make the protagonist taking the big decisions harder to justify.

Indoctrinated spies would already knew what Ark is. Unless they indoctrinate a janitor, but Ark crew wouldn't tell anything to him.

I do. There's nothing stopping the losers of the Milky Way from shutting down or destroying their end of the QEC if they feel the battle has been lost.

On the other hand, if they survive, they have an active link of communication to settlers they have sent to another galaxy. That potentially solves a lot of problems like over population (which is also absurd because the MW is crazy big and there aren't Relays at every star), new perspectives, new scientific breakthroughs and so on ...

There are a lot of potential benefits to installing QECs versus very little or no immediate costs.

The first thing to do after waking up on the Ark is surely to check the QECs? To check for news from the Milky Way.

It'd be one hell of sucker punch if they're told that Reapers are now history and the Galaxy has moved on with some swanky new developments and advancement in technologies.

I'm predicting a return to the MW in the following games ... after ensuring enough time has passed in the MW (because of journey to Andromeda and return from it) to make retconning the ME3 endings unnecessary. And you return to find no surviving species ... hinting at another Reaper-like force that were reaping while you journeyed. The cycle continues!

no offense but I agree with nothing you said.
