We need a paid for Asari diplomat crewmember.

She can pull wool over the eyes of the natives of the planets we colonize and spin sell them into thinking our actions are good for their race.

Instead of that, can I just get a stripper pole in my captain's quarters for the asari to conduct "intimate diplomacy"? I think that feature would be easier to implement.

Star Trek is even more ridiculous. Don't forget that Spock is half human and half vulcan. The point is there is no real explanation for this "sexual compatibility" other than it's purely for fan service purposes. Not only that, but for BioWare, it's a matter of what's convenient because they want to do inter-species relationships.

The likelihood that we will ever see a romanceable female character from another species that doesn't have an accentuated figure with prominent breasts and a butt is virtually almost zero. I personally would be more interested in the dialogue and relationship building, but others love having that fan service in there because they enjoy it.

Maybe because a lot of people would want to romance this lovely lady. sarcasm

We need pole for Kelly Chambers.

I'm in support of this, as well as incorporating Miranda's butt (not Miranda) as a companion.

The Alliance 5th Fleet under Admiral Hackett defeated Sovereign. Sovereign had assumed control of this form (Saren) for the video game "boss fight" and Shepard destroyed the meaningless hopper body. What Shepard really did was stop Saren from using the master control console in the Citadel and use that magic override program disk given to her/him by Vigil to regain control of the Citadel, open it and let in the fleet. At that point it was over. Sovereign had lost.

Her/His team defeated the Collectors that were in the Galactic Core building a human reaper. But apparently there were Collectors elsewhere in the galaxy that we didn't know about at the time.

jUliA! I'm shocked! How could you forget that Shepard killed Sovereign...

Yes humans are special

Why?

- we're better looking

- better entertainment

- better vacation spots

- the best looking homeworld in the universe

- the best sports, football, hockey, soccer etc

- better fashion.

- the most important part, it took a human to stop the reapers. Commander Shepard.

So yeah. Humans are special.

We're also real.  ;)

There was a disconnect between a grown up writing team that made a race of sage diplomats and a fratbro art team that wanted hot blue ****** to ****** to. The same art team that openly laughed at the idea of female turians or krogan. "Like, what do you do with the females, put on lipstick or something, lmao".

I wonder the kind of reaction a female art director would have gotten from the righteous gaming community if she had designed every race in the game as females and said something similar to that when asked how come there aren't any males in the game. "LOL how do you even make a male, do you just put a mustache on the model, ayy lmao." Really try to imagine that interview.

When the writers face the fact that they have no alien females, they have to come up with lore excuses to keep all the females confined to one remote world out of reach, out of view. Oh sure, the salarians are governed by very powerful females in that one world over there which you never go to. Let's not be obtuse, ok? That's not ground-up world-building. That's a cop out to deal with the art team's negligence. And the same happens with the lore related to the Asari. The art team wanted hot strippers and the writers had to adapt to that as best they could, writing around what they had.

Thankfully, someone must have brought this to their attention because after the release of that interview, they were able to make a cool female turian. Well done bros. But the point is the writing team and the art team come from different places and they have a hard time working together.

Bring writers and artists closer and you remove the cause of any problem the asari might have.

Would you please post link to the interview, I find it hard to believe. And if some female made game where everyone is male i wouldn't care, it's her game she can do what she wants. Anime is great example it is for everyone, you can always find something you like. I don't go to forums and complain how sexist it is I just don't watch it. If someone else like half naked man and I don't why should I ruin her fun.

Wow calm down son, I'm speaking specifically about an issue in mass effect and how to help solve it. Not interested in anime sorry.

The interview is here, https://youtu.be/S3oypQkMsFE from 1:05. But again I want to reiterate that they moved forward from that and they're better now. The point is not to bash a team for something they did many years ago, but rather to help explain a specific issue, namely the bipolar character of the asari as a species.

I doubt BioWare will allow such a thing to happen again, when what seems like 75% of BW staff have "Fights for intersectional diversity in videogames" and/or "intersectional feminism" prominently displayed next to their Twitter handles.

Yeah, the original Asari design may have been a mistake (to some degree), but it was a happy mistake that was not intended to offend anyone,

a mark of a simpler time when games were less about politics and more about the most fun for the most people who bought X game.

I think they want to be offended just for the sake of attention and whine.

Wow  well what do you expect mass effect is more space opera than sci-fi. And how to create female Turian, look at nature. Same as male just smaller, and skin not the same. turians are lizards or dinosaurs?

Probably closer to dinosaurs since he mentioned Turians looked liked eagles, and birds are direct descendants of dinosaurs. Somewhat amusing whenever I eat chicken...

Because we need something familiar.

Because the entire premise is about the "milkies" colonizing or runing away to a new galaxy.

We will be stumbled upon plenty of species during exploration... but I don't want this game to be like that foolish movie Avatar.

Not to mention that if only humans survived to colonize Andromeda, that would be the biggest "Humans are special" slap in the whole ME setting.

"Look at those stupid aliens dying like... like stupid aliens. Only us humans are intelligent and resourceful to escape extermination!"
