I wouldn't be upset, if it were properly explained, given that the last three games reduced a fascinating culture to fanservice rather than actually exploring their culture and society, and particularly how those grew and evolved in a society with no concept of gender as we know it, but that's also the reason that I figure that they'll be back. The asari are too much a fanservice element, and, honestly, given that they're also nominally galactic leaders, having the founding seat on the Council, their absence can't be handwaved to any degree that would satisfy anyone.

 

So yeah, not inherently against it given the mishandling of the species overall, but the likelihood of it is about nil.

I honestly don't see how the asari became more fanservice in the sequels then based on ME. The race is depicted in the same way through the trilogy.

I do agree that they didn't explore their culture (that much) and society, but the same goes for almost all the other races in ME.

I'm fine with Asari, I just want them to be more alien. They're basically just psychic blue humans. But I feel that way about all the alien races, there's never any real moment when you go "****, this person is absolutely not human" even briefly.

If by "classical family unit" you mean the nuclear unit of Commander, Sexy Turian, and Krogan Tankbab(ies) then I will be severely disappointed, how dare BioWare snub the value of traditional families?!
