I would be overjoyed if the Asari did not make it to Mass Effect 4.

It's funny the issues people have with the all female Asari.
Would probably uncover quite a few deep rooted issues if studied.

Seems to be elf hate, just in space.

So some want a clean slate in Andromeda so just humans? Leaving the other species behind would make the tie in to the Mass Effect franchise even more of a joke than it already is.

If think if we avoid the entire notion of

"I don't like X therefore X should be eliminated"

and use a much better

"I think X should be revised because:

1) Non-personal in-game reason

2) Plot reason

3) Gameplay reason"

This forum would be a much better place. Though I'm not holding my breath over that.

I realized that people able to formulate a critic clear from their personal bias and judgements are indeed rare.

Star Trek without vulcans or klingon.

I like the asari a lot. Whatever the ham-handed justification Bioware may have had when creating them, they've grown into their space in the setting just like every other alien race. I'd be disappointed if they didn't come back.

With Thessia nearly gone, Pureblood Asari's are not gone forever.

The asari are one of the major races in ME universe and they never had a race threatening choice in ME trilogy. They are an integral part of the universe...there is no chance Bioware cuts them, especially given their popularity. And sure, they may have started out as sexy blue space girls, but they were developed much further than that. The fleshed-out, interesting Asari characters were far more prevalent than the fanservic-y bar dancer kind (there's always room for improvement ofc, but the same applies for the other ME races)

But unlike the other species who had some degree of resistance forces fighting to retake the planet, Thessia and Khar'shan were the only two homeworlds that completely fell to Reaper forces in ME3, an outcome that we had no choice to prevent (unlike with Kahje).

I think that kind of outweighs not being a choice there, since it was far more shocking that we couldn't do anything to prevent the Fall of Thessia, because none of the characters (or anyone in the audience) expected the Asari to get utterly curb-stomped in that manner.

WTF..did they steal your lunch money or something?

I do find it odd that people hate such a benign and self aware design choice by Bioware. It's not like they were trying to sneak the fanservice aspect under the radar.

You assuming the Ark departed to Andromeda after the events of ME3. We cannot tell yet when those ships left our galaxy so this is more like an assumption of yours. If I should make a wild guess BW will make the least amount of ME3 mentions or outright ignore most of ME3 events so that they won't have to deal with the consequences of the game.

Kiera and this one "embraced eternity" many times during the production of the film. It would be hard to imagine a universe without the asari, they have the most in common with the hanar as they have tentacles on their heads. Also, their religion is based on the beliefs of the Enkindlers.

I still don't see any legitimate reasons for Asari removal. Would you still want them removed if there were an abundance of Drell in the game? Or plenty of attractive males within the game? Because if it's just jealousy of lack of female eye candy then that can be fixed.

I don't see how this is race threatening. Earth was fallen since day one. Everything after that was just insurgency, which happened on Thessia as well (one of the fetch quest NPCs mentioned that Matriarch Aethyta is leading the asari resistance there iirc)...and there are humans left. Thessia on the other was invaded late in the war, and spends a lot less time occupied than Earth or most other homeworlds (except Sur'Kesh). I suppose the occupation of the planet only lasted for a few weeks until Shepard shot the tube/assumed direct control/jumped into the beam and saved the galaxy (according to the codex harvesting a planet like Thessia would take years). On top of that, some their their colony worlds weren't even conquered.

I would not miss them and it won't bother me if they are included.  I liked Aria, she was an interesting character so if the Asari in the group is interesting and well written I wouldn't mind.

However, if we go into the local saloon and only see them dancing, that's over kill.

Thessia fell completely? As far as I was aware resistance continued just like it did on earth, palaven etc.
It's the same idea people have that the Asari didn't contribute anything to the crucible until the fall of thessia, which is also a load of bollocks.

In fact a lot of what people write about the Asari is bollocks (or could be attributed equally to any other other race).
It's also like the rather odd amount of hatred Liara attracts as well.

I find it really odd that the only all female race in the galaxy gets targeted so, and with so much vitriol.

I'm 100% on board with the idea of salarian, krogan, and turian dancers too. Although presumably the only saloons we're gonna hit up are of the andromedan variety.

*Everyone* was curbstomped by the Reapers, including the supposedly tough Turians, they were reduced to waging a losing guerrilla campaign from the ruins of their civilization, exactly the type of fighting that the Asari and the Salarians are said to be much better at.

From space the Turian home world looked very similar to earth. The Turian "resistance" is a myth.

All the races were on their knees from the moment the real attack started, even the Krogan help managed to do very little to help.

Very true, everyone was being decimated by the Reapers.

Though I think that the Turians suffered the most casualties out of all the Council species simply due to the fact that they were slugging it out with the Reapers over their homeworld. The fact that Palaven never completely fell (well until post Cerberus HQ) meant that the Reapers were hitting them harder than the other species and that the planet itself was suffering more damage. You don't see any continent-wide fireballs raging on Earth, Thessia, or Tuchanka  for example.

I don't know what is your definition of falling, but IMO, when the chain of command is all but destroyed, communications and coordinated actions are next to impossible, military installations are dust, and the highest ranking general is reduced to hiding in a small makeshift base on a moon that was in itself supposed to be a "just in case" solution, used only during a FUBAR scenario...

Well... it seems to me that they have fallen just as hard as earth and other places...

I wasn't suggesting that everyone wasn't hit just as hard as Thessia, but the Asari Councillor's reaction to Shepard informing her that the situation was "deteriorating fast, the Reapers are there in strength" seems to suggest the world was in serious danger of falling or already had.

It's implied earlier in the game that part of the reason the Asari did not take more of an active role was because they believed their superior technology (about 100 years ahead of everyone else) could keep the Reapers at bay, so ended up being surprised at how easily they swept through their defenses when they finally came in force.

Asari have incredible biotics and superior technology, but it's clearly been a long time since they have had to fight in any kind of serious military campaign, unlike the Humans, Turians or Salarians. Part of the reason they were so reliant on the Krogan and later the Turians to provide the muscle was because they've never really needed to engage in conflicts they couldn't solve diplomatically. That's not to say the Asari can't fight well when they have to, just that they lack the comparative skill at waging war that those other species have, so Thessia would be less prepared to launch a resistance against invasion.

Obviously all species were getting their teeth kicked in, especially the Turians on Palaven, but the Asari definitely come across as the species with the most disadvantage when it came to having experience kicking their enemy back.

Going to need some evidence for that I think, there's nothing lore wise to suggest it.
In fact it's implied even the godlike humans would get a kicking from the asari if they chose to.

I'm not saying that the Turians weren't getting trounced by the Reapers, or that their world was still in good shape, I'm not even saying that their government was in any better condition, but I am saying that Palavan was the only home world that the Reapers were unable to establish air superiority over simply due to the Turians' never surrender nature.

Earth, and Thessia fell rather quickly, it was the Turians that bogged the Reapers down in a prolonged engagement, one that the Turians were losing by nature of superior technology and sheer attrition to be sure, but the fact remains that they were the ones taking the brunt of the Reaper onslaught, forcing the invading army to dedicate a large portion of its forces to dealing with them.

We didn't :3. They thought they could keep us tied up with some upgraded toaster slaves until we blew up the one guy they sent, idiots.

For that matter, krogan are in the same boat, though they managed to blow up their homeworld without the Reapers so that's not saying much. These two have the highest mathematically possible war asset totals of anyone other than the Mary S'humans. Reapers must've been trying to pick off the weak ones first.

You also forgot these guys. Their homeworld is still a pristine paradise IIRC.

I would be devastated if Asari were not in the game lol I think they are very important to the ME universe and it would be a mistake to not include them. Even though there is a lot of hate for Liara, I think that was more of her character and focus in the story rather then the race.  More Asari please bioware!
