I have really bad experiences with smashdepths and smashguards. It seems to me that theese are played exclusively by the desperate pointhoarders that sprint around distrupting spawnpoints and uses their all their gels in the first half of the match. Oh and ofc bleeding out in idiot places on the maps in the last few waves that are the ones that actually matters.
Those are a no go for me.

People with a total lack of logic and reason, and a complete lack of just basic understanding of the game.

Like that guy on a human adept with a widow and a typhoon, rocking shock trooper gear, and a smg amp.
No.. No, that is  not for me.

I'm usually too baked to care, or even notice what everyone's bringing to the party. The host is my first, and only serious concern - consumables equipped? If yes, we're probably good to go as long as competence is detected in the loadout. Beyond that I don't really look very hard. I'm focusing more on whether I might switch to a character with more potential synergy.

I've hardly ever left a lobby simply because of what characters or weapons people are using, unless I happen to find 3 Infiltrators when I'm not playing as one. But even then, I'm more likely to just switch to an Infiltrator myself. When I say I don't care what other people do, I really mean it, but I'm not taking that kind of aggro dump if I'm playing something with weak shields.

As others have said, suicidal map combos on PS3 are a fairly obvious no-no, and I will always leave a preset Giant lobby because, well, you all know why. But let's face it, I'm probably gonna land in the game halfway through wave 1 anyway, right? Hydra's the only map with a warning light at this stage, although Rio will still make me very slightly wary.

The only lobbies I regularly leave are the ones where the host with the N7 rank in double figures, maybe playing a level 8 HV with no consumables readies up the moment I arrive. While I usually have a chuckle and just leave, I must confess I've been known to ready up too, and then just quit the game. Good luck out there, Soldier! If you're any good you'll still get the wave 3 credits.

Honestly, the occasional lengthy wait to fill the third and fourth slots has seen me readying-up with any level 20 player with a functional loadout on several occasions recently. Mostly good games too, and none of them have been with the Usual Suspect characters. It's not all doom and gloom out there. And what's with all the Vorcha? Have I missed a meeting? Pug Land is Vorcha Land on PS3 lately. GRAAAAAAGGGHHHHH!!! BIG MACHINE!!!!!! Makes me think of you every time PAT, even if you're on hiatus. VORCHA MASTER BAITS must return one day, if only to shout, "I'M ALIIIIVE!!!" one last time.

As for Ghost, it's probably my favourite map. Not for any particular reason, and it's not that I play it particularly well or have any wonderful guaranteed win strategies or anything - I just like it, and find Pug behaviour there can be unpredictable enough to pose an enjoyable challenge. It also amuses me now, remembering that I found it quite hard to 'work out' in SP. It can be a pretty big challenge as a melee Krogan if you happen to find yourself with a sniping squad of snivelling pyjaks. On the other hand, I had one of my favourite ever matches there with QMR - that Krogan Sentinel with Claymore and QMI with Indra (Edit: Apologies, I meant Valiant - I always mix them up) were hunkered down in the LZ for a hack. There were two dead pugs somewhere, so the hack was taking its sweet time, but it was glorious. Headshot! Hahahaha! We coulda held 'em off for days.  :D

These ramblings have been brought to you courtesy of Stoners International. Apologies to all those affected. Dammit Sinful, I coulda been playing for the last hour if I hadn't started reading this thread!

^ That was a good read. And yes, when I first played Ghost in sp, I totally got lost and couldn't figure out that Ghost map either at first.

I usually don't care unless someone brings a combo like GPS + HVB + Drill Rounds.

^ I've noticed this recently too, though- tons of Vorcha in pugs. A pleasant development. A few of them have actually been competent too, surprisingly.

I am mercurial about it.

Sometimes if I see a Reegar toting AIU I will leave.

Sometimes I won't.

Sometimes I'll leave if there's a lvl 14, sometimes I will stay if there's a lvl 7.

Occasionally I'll stay with three infiltrators if I'm playing a volus because I know how to cloak better than you do.

Occasionally I'll leave when there are three infiltrators and I'm on a volus because I don't feel like having to cloak all the time and Heavy melee is really where it's all at.

Occasionally I don't play a volus and stay in lobbies I regret staying in.

I could go o...

For me, I've got different "tiers" so to speak. There's:

Tier 1: Annoying but I'll carry your ass.

Snap Cheeze/Flamer spammers. Those "Paladins" that run around snap freezing/flaming everything armed with only a Derperus Carrier or a Acolyte. They only know that button on those kits and nothing else. They're barely above leechers to me. I shouldn't have to make the distinction to these guys and actual players who may have the same builds but have actual strategies.

Tier 2: Redundant n00b kits. The Fisher Price Gold Difficulty Starter Set.

Puggernaughts/Warlords. Though the latter is much rarer, the former is rampant. It's not necessarily a bad thing as they work as great aggro decoys. It's almost like having TC when not a Volus or Infiltrator. Some people are legit new to Gold while others just fall back on the same redundant ****. Back in my day I had to learn FBWGG before and after SE and pyro grabbing with a max of 4 consumables. Again though, not a big bother. <_<

Tier 3: Derpgunz

Harriers, Reegars, Hurricanes; GIs, TGIs.

When I see these kits they tend to bring out my competitive spirit. I aim to outdo these players on the basis that their weapon choice is overbuffed TRASH. I prefer to use something Uncommon preferably just to prove that other weapons have something these things lack: fun factor.

Tier 4: Hazard Naggers

I love most, if not all maps, hazard or not (except Dagger). They're beautiful to look at and challenging. But as has been stated ad nauseum, PS3 can't handle most of them or their Thessian counterpart (and Goddess is my favorite still). If my last game had frame issues, I'm not playing this. If I see Collectors Ghost/Giant/London/Goddess/Dagger I will usually straight up leave.

Tier 5: lol i dont need equip

GFY. Yes you do. That's why you're being teabagged by Urdnot Shagrath right now. Slap on some equipment bro. It's Gold/Plat, and I know you have a toncause I just peeped your profile. Either you leave or I do. Better yet, use the stuff you just got along with that Wraith VI and we'll have a good game.

Tier 6: Wall staring, or how my attention span is so short I need to cheat rather than enjoy the game for what it is.

I bail on this crap 100% of the time. Waaaay too boring and dumb. AHF or not, if you plan on doing this, don't invite me or expect me to sit around wasting my own time. I'd rather be Omen Thunder God Fist-ing Nina Williams through a wall. I don't mind 666 glitching because its not affecting me and I'd be lying if I said I've never done it. Hell, my Volus Sentinel is on the juice.

So basically, I like diversity and MAXIMUM EFFORT~!!

I usually play Gold. Platinum runs reserved exclusively for Huntress and Destroyer.

1. I check the CP points

2. I check for consumables equipped

3. If at least one more person has a high CP and consumables equipped, I ready up (high CP is >3000)

4. If the other 3 are low CP but have all consumables equipped, then I ready up

5. I've only recently become sensitive to being the only non-infiltrator in a lobby. I immediately switch to one too.

6. I don't mind primers like Flamers and Snap Freeze. It means the game will end quicker. In this case I pick Vanguards or good detonators.

7. When I see themed lobbied developing, I try and switch kits. However this takes time because I am constantly tweaking kits, weapons and consumables. So recently, I've started sticking to what I have equipped.

8. I do not mind preset maps. But I am aware of how devastating some hazard maps can be to the PS3. I wish Jade would come up as often as Giant does. It's a pita to play against Cerberus but it is the 2nd rarest map after Condor.

9. I hate all factions equally. They all have their cheap tactics. However, Reapers are a pain in the ass to play against because of the Banshees' screams. If the host presets Reapers again after having just played against them, I quit.

10. The cooler the squadmates' kits, the more inclined I am to stay in the lobby for consecutive games. Special considerations to kits like Slayer (pretty much all N7 kits), Ex-Cerberus, Talon, Juggernaut (if this guy played well and did not rely on heavy melee throughout the last game), Warlord, Collector, Volus (well played one), Turian Havocs etc.

Which brings me to this,

I have really bad experiences with smashdepths and smashguards. It seems to me that theese are played exclusively by the desperate pointhoarders that sprint around distrupting spawnpoints and uses their all their gels in the first half of the match. Oh and ofc bleeding out in idiot places on the maps in the last few waves that are the ones that actually matters.
Those are a no go for me.

What is this heresy? I rarely see these kits being used and when I do see them, they aren't being used especially badly. Although, that said, I can still improve with the smashguard. It's so stylish that I find it difficult to resist charging in and smashing all the things. On a decent off-host connection I usually survive and do well. I need to learn to hang back, use the weapon the character is equipped with and choose the terrain for the fight rather than go mad like a Viking Berserker. I have managed to do this with the adept (slapped the Revenant on him, goodbye boring Acolyte), time to do some experimenting with the Vanguard.

When playing Platinum, there's really no build that would make me want to kick a player or leave the match. As long as everyone is bringing powerful amps and powerful/high level weapons, they're alright in my book.

Gold and below? Different story.

Shield-Boost spamming Volus? If they stay away from me, sure. Otherwise, Nope.

Juggernauts with their c*ck block shield? Nope.

Demolishers using the Black Widow? Nope.

Lone Wolves? They can solo the damn match.

1) I avoid nothing when pugging. No map no character...

2)... But usually, when somebody ask me to play an other kit, I don't hesitate to change it.

3) When playing with friends (and I know they could care of them self) I like to try some builds I never did before. - Like the Quarian Indra 1 Marksman yesterday, what really messed me up.

So tl;dr
I don't bother, if you want me to change something, just ask.

I don't avoid lobbies because of certain kits, but I'll admit I get really bored of running into turian infiltrators and AIUs over and over and over again.

Pugging U/U/G on PS3 has been really good (in my opinion), I haven't really found many lobbies that would prompt me to quit. Whether I end up carrying inexperienced players to glory (not often), or hoping to snatch the occasional leftover crumb when playing with highly skilled players/BSNers, I think I usually have the same amount of fun. The only thing that really bugs me is when people don't ever help with objectives.

Haven't pugged Platinum at all recently but back in the day, as long as everyone came decently equipped, all good. I only avoided lobbies full of grenade reliant players since I didn't want to crap my e-diaper finding out what happened when all the grenades ran out.

I've gotten to where I just slap on the good ole BatSent and go searching. 70% of time on PS3, I'm joining GIP, so I never see what I'm getting myself into. If I get into competent lobby, I will try to synergize with team. If it is trash, sorry, I'm going Saber/Lancer Ghost, Claymore/Raider/Wraith sexbot, or BatSol. I don't leave, unless I hear loud ass music playing, thatshits a no go. Searching is just a pain sometimes, so I don't leave lobbies. However, not helping with objectives and I'm out after the match. If it's a competent player scorewhooooring objective waves, let the missile trolling, tea bagging his corpse or hiding in corner with pizza if possible.

Ha, I remember that game! Many a Goon and Fantum rushed our position only to meet a messy end at the hands of quarian precision and krogan brutality, both combining to accomplish the same result of a metaphorical melon harvest. We truly channeled our inner Kirrahe and held the line. They will sing songs about that battle on Tuchanka and Rannoch for ages to come.
