I have been playing the Witcher 3 for like 150 hours now... and I got to the last part of the game. The Battle of Kaer Morhen... this part of the game made me cry alot because the phasing reminded me alot about  suicide mission in Mass Effect 2.

Even a juggernaut game like Witcher 3 had some influence I see... even though ME3 left a bad taste in my mouth I hope that Andromeda pulls off. I really do... maybe I can forgive them if it gets good reviews from everyone especially the gamers themselves.

Well, yeah. Witcher ruined everything for me too. It made me understand how crappy DAI really was and that bioware at some point turned in the wrong direction.

Yet another reason for me to avoid TW games, as I have enjoyed my 1100+ hrs in Thedas thus far.

Here's hoping MEA will be similarly inspired.

At any rate, I definitely hope that BW pulls it off and makes something amazing out of Andromeda.

Of course I do because them making an amazing ME:A means I get an amazing ME:A experience. That's a win for me.

Here's hoping everybody!

We all have our vices.

That said, I barely put a hundred hours in that game and I think I was overplaying it.

The more unlike DAI MEA is the more likely it is that it won't suck.

About the usual, people gripe about how crappy DAI is, how moderately okay the Witcher 3 was.

Etc.

The usual.

Touche, DAI was a terrible attempt at open world, especially Hinderlands. Bioware strength is in story telling and the game barely has any story, the villain is one note, there is no reason for the protagonist to care about the villain except stopping 1000 years of darkness cliche, the characters are stereotypical, and a lot of quests are made to expand game time in an annoying way like finding those freaking stones, some of which are almost unreachable.

I crap about both games, it's all about Call of Duty for me. Best series of the generation.

did I say anywhere on the top that this topic is comparing the two? as a matter of fact it seems more of "complementing Mass Effect"

Eh, I don't like the franchise but that's just because I have never really found shooters all that interesting.

I'm of the mind if you want to shoot a gun, you go out, buy one, and shoot it.

And or move to a country where gun laws aren't repressive and indicative of a government that fears its people being armed and denies the right of both possession of firearms and the safety those implements bestow.

Simply mention the word "Witcher" is enough to start off a war. It's a trigger word around here.

Yeah I noticed this as well. People at the Fallout forums are hating Witcher for taking home GOTY and now this. I never intended to start any flame war, as a matter of fact that battle in Ker Morhen looks like a homage to Mass Effect... Which I miss alot hence the topic... Because I want Andromeda to succeed after the crap storm that ME3 generated

Ahhh, memories. The suicide mission where so many friends could die a grisly death. Maybe it was an influence. Pretty sure they borrowed the biotic field idea for TW2.

Ah, okay ... can we sacrifice Ciri in some way? Because then maybe should finally find the will to continue the game where I left 8 months ago ... Searching for her was what made me stop playing it after a while, I just couldn't stand her character (I blame having read the books prior to it...all her chapters were so boring *shudders*). I wish they had dedicated more to the promise of Witcher 2 and fidning Yennefer, instead of this Ciri-finding-stuff that had me not intrigued at all...if you only look at the Witcher-games Ciri really comes out of left field ^^ And I hate if characters do that in my video-games, no matter if they wear "hoodies" or not ^^

Anyway, enough ot the pretentious "GotY-Bashing" by me in an attempt to look edgy and hipster...But I really don't see much potential in comparing TW3 to Andromeda or Mass Effect in general, to be true. And most of all, I hope Andromeda has better combat than Witcher 3 has...

Actually, I was at that forum as well, but it wasn't the Fallout fans who brought it up, it was the Witcher posters glow and talk about how crappy Fallout 4 was. Even at the Game awards, it was pretty obnoxious when some guys chant "not Fallout". Personally, I have no problem with either games, people should just play what they want to play, offering suggestion how games can learn from each other is a whole lot better than just talking about how terrible this game is and how terrible that game is and how the game of their choice rulez. It'd not only get fans of other games get defensive and turn them away from the game they try to promote. In general, every game can learn from each other. I like the way the Witcher approach open world, but I also don't like the way they do combat, which in my personal opinon, the weakest part of the game. Fallout needs more in story department as well and a lot of the NPCs don't react to the progression of the quests as much as I would like and some quests feel unfinished but I like the freedom they offer in that game. Basically, it's just the way people approach the comparison. There is a difference between a fan and a fanboy.

The only annoyance I have for the Witcher 3 combat is the god awful locking mechanic... Geralt switches between targets randomly following your mouse. But other than that I got used to it. Regarding the crap forums... I was referring to the IGN and Facebook ones.... Anyway fanboys will be fanboys no matter what
