Phew, for a moment I thought they would keep the battle system consistent for two games in a row!

Seriously, though, if this is a thing I hope it's a spin off and not the plan for DA4.

As long as it had a storyline akin to other Dragon Age games, sure.

Oh no. This doesn't sound very good, but I don't want to overreact. Like vbibbi said I hope this is not the plan for the next DA game. If it's some spin-off or side project then it's fine by me.

That nug is adorable!

Ekhm, to the topic. I grew up on strategy games, so I wouldn't mind one. As long as it's some side project.

As a side project, sure, do it. I'd rather have anything else as a side project though, feel like those resources could be put to use in something more interesting.

...oh, Maker no please no.

if it's some spin off, knock yourselves out. I won't be playing it, but I'm sure you'd get alot of players for it.

for DA4 if you switch to xcom style combat, I'm gonna be pizzed. just sayin'. since you asked.

Wrong question to ask. Would you PURCHASE a tactics based DA game?

Answer: For the right price.

I have never played Fire Emblem, but if it is a turn based RPG like Final Fantasy or Breath of Fire, then... I probably wouldn't like it for Dragon Age.

I would however like a war based tactics game like Nobunaga's Ambition or Gemfire, where the various countries and providences in Thedas could war with each other, and various generals could be appointed.

But a regular RPG type game? No, I probably wouldn't buy that.

But, throw the Hero of Ferelden into it and I would.

Are we talking a full-fledged stand-alone game or a microtransition generator like The Last Court or Heroes of Dragon Age?

So... they possibly have enough funding from EA to develop two DA games at once...? Can we just have an uber-amazing DA4 instead? Please?

A portable Dragon Age game that borrows Fire Emblem's gameplay mechanics (Conquest is goddamn fantastic) would be amazing.

I looked up Fire Emblem Awakening gameplay, and I don't think that would work as a main game for Dragon Age. But if it were a side project it could be fun. It looks like you command an overworld map where you move characters into position and then you launch an attack or spell, and then you go to a close-up battle view where the action is carried out.

Again, doesn't look like it would work for Dragon Age, but if it was a side game then it might be okay. Maybe the game could cover the war between Tevinter and the Qunari.

That would be amazing. I love the Dragon Age universe and merging the storyline and aesthetic with the fluid gameplay and politics of a Fire Emblem game (which are usually lacking in story but otherwise good) would be a winning formula in my book.

Any chance to flesh out Thedas would be great, and this gives us the chance to use regular soldiers who are usually relegated to the sidelines in the usual Dragon Age games.

But I would hope that it not be excluded from the PC like the Fire Emblem games.

Although, in order to get the full range of race and class options we all like in a Dragon Age game I think we would have to center such a venture on a Grey Warden story - perhaps some drama in the Anderfels? They have only been alluding to something going on up there for the last 3 games in the series. May as well check it out. It can be very Game of Thronesy because the Grey Wardens are a ruling political unit there as opposed to their more neutral compatriots in other countries. We can use Dragon Age Keep to port such information as Blackwall's circumstances to how we dealt with the Architect (who is likely still alive no matter what) so as to help personalize the beginning.

It doesn't have to take place in modern day. You can set it during the First Blight, there's a lot of story there during that 200 year long war that hasn't been explored yet. Plus the Griffon race were strong back then so you'd have your flying units.

The first Blight being 200 years long and happening like 1000 years ago gives Bioware a lot of creative freedom with the writing too in terms of not interfering with modern canon.

You could have flying units be Griffon wardens while maintaining standard knight/cavalier/mage/mercenary/fighter/etc units that you get in FE. Not to mention the story of how they devised the joining during a 200 year long war sounds interesting imo.

Well, the fact is that griffons have indeed made a comeback in the present age. A live clutch of the cute little things was recently found, and a romanced Blackwall sends the Inquisitor a package with an intact griffon feather. And if we set it in the present then Bioware gets to connect the game to Dragon Age Keep which seems to be a thing for them now. Some people (like me unfortunately) no matter how stupid it may sounds (again me) would be more likely to buy and play the game if  it would have some pronounced minimal teeny tiny connection to the next major installment in the series.

Come one, you know it's true.

Right, but that was a clutch, in terms of sheer volume pre-4th Blight makes more sense imo. Incidentally, taking place so far back around the time of the first Human incursion into the fade can tie into DA4 and the Bald Egg.

A prequel does not seem to match Bioware current Dragon Age agenda. Every game they have done, even the small ones, takes place in the present timeline which makes sense because they then don't have to make up too much stuff. The idea is to make a world with player characters shaping the politics so as to invest the player in the setting. Inquisition was the culmination of this because we got a message from the Hero of Ferelden, a quick peak on our Marquis in Serualt, and we actually got to meet the Champion of Kirkwall. A prequel would not have such connections, it would in fact be a completely different world in many respects from the one we are currently playing.

I believe that any new information we would want on codename Bald Egg will have to wait until the next major installment, especially if he also turns out to be a certain supposed elven disciple of Andraste.

If it had a fully customizable, Human, elf, dwarf, or qunari PC, full-fledged BioWare style storytelling, player choices with rewards and consequences, dialogue trees, and romance?

Then-
