I'll pass on this one.

A prequel does not seem to match Bioware current Dragon Age agenda. Every game they have done, even the small ones, takes place in the present timeline which makes sense because they then don't have to make up too much stuff. The idea is to make a world with player characters shaping the politics so as to invest the player in the setting. Inquisition was the culmination of this because we got a message from the Hero of Ferelden, a quick peak on our Marquis in Serualt, and we actually got to meet the Champion of Kirkwall. A prequel would not have such connections, it would in fact be a completely different world in many respects from the one we are currently playing.
I believe that any new information we would want on codename Bald Egg will have to wait until the next major installment, especially if he also turns out to be a certain supposed elven disciple of Andraste.
He only woke up a year before Inquisition so I don't think that's him.
I'm looking at this mostly from a gameplay and mission structure view.

I'd have to read reviews from players I trust, tbh, I'm not a big tactical game player, but if the story were interesting enough, and this wasn't taking resources away from the next DA game, I'd at least give it a try.

A Dragon Age game similar to FF tactics or xcom 2? Please god let this happen.

So I've not played Xcom (or even heard of the Fire one), but if I assume turn based tactical gameplay is something along the lines of Civilization but with only the military aspect (but presumably done in greater detail), am I close?
Pretty much.
And to the topic - No i wouldn't really have an interest in this. Not that i dislike that type of gameplay, as i like X-com a great deal, but it doesn't really fit the Dragon Age style, imo.

If its gameplay and romance is like that of Fire Emblem, without the anime elements, then hell yes I'd play a DA game like that. It could be a spin-off that maybe touches on in between DAI and DA4 but obviously not give away any important details for the latter.

I'll play the game if it's combat, and class system is similar to Disgaea's, or FFTactics's or Fire Emblem's.

While I think realistically if this existed it would take place during the Dragon Age itself, but I'd honestly find the First Blight more interesting. You've got the Imperium collapsing, basically end times with a 200 year long blight, mass religious and cultural disillusionment, and secession of nations.

One of the things I fell in love with in Dragon Age Origins was how much it reminded me of my all time favorite video game ever, Final Fantasy Tactics, at least in terms of story. If the Dragon Age writers could capture that sort of feeling again, in that same sort of gameplay as well...I don't know that my body could take it.
And heck, in terms of story, I might like it better than a "main story" game, since I love Thedas primarily for the world building and am not super psyched about all the lost Elves/"fixing the world" stuff anyway.
A setpiece story with tactical combat...Mr. Darrah are you a Desire Demon in disguise? Because...damn.

A game like X-Com? Yes, as long as it wasn't the next main DA chapter.

I've been hoping they'd make a strategy game in the setting since before DA2 came out. To coin a phrase from Cassandra, I would play the **** out of this.

Besides the Dragon Age and Mass Effect series the only other games i've played as an adult were the Saints Row series and sports games so i have no idea what these other games that keep getting brought up even are. I've seen people play Final Fantasy games and i have no interest in games like that. Even with Dragon Age i don't really set anything up. I just rush in and kill the bad guys. Hasn't gone against me yet.

Final Fantasy Tactics is still one of the best games ever made for me, so yes, I would love to have something like that in Thedas. I could even spend more time on it than I spent in DAO (and I spent a lot of time on DAO).

I can see no downside here. ![]()

Yeeeeesssssss. An XCOM-styled Dragon Age would have been a better organization-building experience than Inquisition.

Just so long as the difficulty and perma-death mechanics of XCOM can make it into said tactics game.
There's nothing quite like customizing your solider, ensuring that everything is color coordinated, thinking of a snappy call sign to give him, and then having him die two turns into his first mission because he activated one pod too many and was flanked. ![]()
*Bonus points if he panicked and ran out of that full cover you had him behind and sought shelter behind a flimsy sapling.

It's really not my favorite type of games , even when it's more "RPG" like Shadowrun :Dragonfall.
Moving units around on a grid so they can go pew pew pew , erf.
I do enjoy managing ressources and building a base , I used to play the old Warcraft games and other strategy games and it was alright , and I saw Xcom has also something like this .
But still combat is a chore , story is often barebone or just some gimmick ,so I'll pass.

It's not really my favorite type of gameplay, either. But I love the Shadowrun setting enough to have tried the recent games and ended up really enjoying myself, so I can certainly be persuaded.
I kinda wish there was a "maybe" option on the poll. I ended up choosing "yes" because I would probably at least try it.

in if the first half of the game comes out on console only and the second half of the games out on PC only and only if this is kept secret during release time.
